I've spent my entire afternoon on this, configured NextDNS and other similar software level solutions, and it's looking like my only option is to spend some money on either a raspberry pi to use pi-hole or a new router to support installing custom firmware. Before I go through this though I was hoping to ask if anyone else has gone through this and came out successful? Ive seen people claim that chromecast hardcodes the DNS but through my own testing this is false as you can change the dns1 and 2, they are just set to google's by default but very much changeable. It seems however that youtube and hulu ads come from the same domain as the videos themselves so DNS blocking doesn't work.
I'm specifically looking for input from anyone who has successfully blocked youtube and hulu ads on a chromecast google TV, not speculative answers from what others think might work, no offence intended to anyone, but Ive spent all day searching for answers and have tried everything short of pi-hole or custom router firmware. I'm also aware of youtube vanced, but this is only a half baked solution as I still have to deal with hulu ads
