My friend and I got tired of the deliberate playback lag on YouTube for using uBlock, so we created an extension to bypass it automatically using the YouTube No-Cookie service.

i've been having an issue with discord's "tRuSt AnD sAfEtY tEaM" features as the unhelpful support bots put it where doing a random specific thing (posting more than 3 images in my case) has me temporarily muted with the automated system thinking i was hijacked.
research has yielded that similar problems were caused by VPNs (turning mine off did nothing) but recently someone told me based on their own experiences that it could potentially be my ad-blocker instead
is there any sense behind this?
This is getting ridiculous.
My Pinterest feed is completely flooded with ads — Etsy, Temu, Amazon, nonstop. It barely feels usable anymore.
I’ve tried basic stuff like DNS-based blockers (NextDNS), but they don’t seem to touch in-app ads at all.
Does anyone know a free method that actually works for blocking ads inside the Pinterest app specifically?
iOS preferred, but open to anything that’s proven to work.
Not looking for “just use the browser” — I want the app experience without the ad overload.

as i said in the title, i would like to find a way to prevent any pop-up ads from appearing on my phone. i have a samsung galaxy s20 plus, and the browser i use is google chrome.
i do not want to use a different browser, as my issue is not with the browser itself - i refuse to pay for any streaming services other than youtube because i believe they're a bunch of greedy money-grubbers, and here is why: with youtube, you can use it without paying for it, but you get ads, and when you pay for the subscription, you don't. with most other streaming services, you can't use it at all without paying for a subscription, and if you don't want ads then you have to pay even more for a higher tier of subscription. it's ridiculous.
ANYWAY, rant over lol. i use free sites to watch shows and movies, and most of them that i've found have pop-up ads every time you touch the screen - to play it, to pause it, to put it in full-screen, to search for a show / movie, et cetera.
sooo, does anyone have any recommendations for a way to prevent that from happening, or recommendations for sites to watch my stuff on that don't have pop-up ads? thanks in advance! ♡♡

adblock always works just fine on youtube but for the last few days I notice when I click on a new video, my captions spam on and off and it says "something wrong? find out why" in the bottom left of my screen. If anyone else has experienced this or if there is a way to remove the captions feature maybe to stop this, please let me know. Thanks.
I just realised that if I use an andblocker on my laptop, YouTube will literally display a black screen instead of a video or will hit me with a "this content is not available, try again later"

Well, it's been like 4 months now that I keep getting this, sometimes it just goes away and everything comes back to normal, but it's been like weeks now and the only way to make it work is to open youtube on a private tab (I don't know why that happens, but adblock works fine on youtube if I'm on a private tab). I tried using Brave, multiple adblocker extensions, even setting UBOL's settings to complete, but youtube still lags in Chrome. What else can I do?

The ad blocker arms race is exhausting. YouTube breaks things, uBlock patches, YouTube breaks again. Manifest V3 made it worse.
What if the answer isn't blocking but acceleration?

The ad still "plays" so the impression counts. No network interception. No arms race — YouTube has no reason to detect or block this because the ad was served and watched.

I’d prefer not doing a browser related thing (simply because I find the website more annoying to use on mobile than the app) but everything I saw besides that seemed to involve side loading or whatever it’s called, which I am very unfamiliar with and am worried I’d fuck up. Chrome is my preferred browser. I read online that Total Adblock was the best option, but unfortunately this extension comes with it's own ads, which pretty much defeats the purpose. The ads coming up from total adblock are even more annoying than the ads it's supposed to be blocking. Any advice on a free adblock for chrome which doesn't have it's own ads?

So very very recently I've been getting an issue where if i click on a Youtube video of a monetized channel, No matter what Adblock extension I use, or even if I use Chromium Brave's built-in adblock, or a Firefox framework with adblock, It loads all the other elements of the Youtube page, except for the video and audio (even the captions load.) I can go forwards and backwards in the progress bar, but the video just doesn't play for 10~30 seconds, depending on the video, but standard for the same video. (My guesses are channel size = how many ads attempt to run, or channel type = the diversity of ads attempt to run)
And then 10~30 seconds later, the youtube video loads as usual.
This is just inconvenient by itself, but what's worrying is that it implies that Youtube has all the power over adblockers now. There is a possible, not-to-distant future where Youtube simply perma-rejects the adblocker and just never loads the video.
For people who experience the same problem as me, please ping my reddit when you find a updated adblock which fixes this. (No im not switching to Linux over this, not considering it at the moment)

I was wondering what the best adblocker for iOS was. I’ve been using AdGuard which was good for a while, but I still have some issues with ads sometimes. I recently found Luna Adblock, which works really well, but I don’t really need an adblocker for anything but safari, and I hear they sell a lot of your data. Are there any good alternatives, or do I just have to stick with one of these.
(I prefer to stick with free adblockers, but if there happens to be a really good one for cheap, I would consider that too)

Does anyone else have this issue? I added Adnauseum to ungoogled chromium and later to brave to confirm if this is a browser issue or something else but when I turn off my pc and come back to it later I see that I have to go back into my extensions manager again and do a "load unpacked" for Adnauseum to add it back as an extension again. Developer mode is still on so I don't know why it keeps getting removed when I shut down my pc. Can't be a browser specific issue either since it happened with both Brave and Ungoogled Chromium. Anyone else had this issue before?

Let’s be real though. In 2026, that disclaimer doesn’t mean much. With enough signals, aggregators can easily track individuals without needing a name attached. “Non‑identifiable” data is basically a myth at this point.
It’s depressing how normalized this has become. Companies trying to squeeze money out of every click, scroll, and pause is just accepted as the cost of existing online.
My take: block all ads, everywhere.
Or even better: click all the ads and poison the data.
I haven’t been using AdNauseam (https://adnauseam.io/) yet, but honestly, I think it should be used. I’m seriously considering starting. At this point, it feels like one of the few practical ways users can push back. If companies insist on building massive profiling systems around us, flooding those systems with garbage data seems fair game.
This whole surveillance‑driven ad ecosystem needs to stop — and if companies won’t self‑regulate, maybe it’s time users push back a little harder.
I'm on PC. Things I tried:
- Chrome with Ublock Origin Lite
- Firefox with Ublock Origin
- Brave with Ublock Origin and without, so the integrated adblocker. Also with an imported profile, and with a new one.
Nothing works, it always delays the start of videos that are meant to have ads. At some point I gave up and decided to just let ads play, but it can easily take 30 seconds of unskippable ads, multiple times during the same video or back to back when simply changing video. This whole thing has been going for months now lol, please help.

So suddenly my youtube video in chrome wont run the video at all and only show black screen today. Ive thought that this is youtube usual anti adblock shenanigans; however, even when I turn off the adblock extension, It still only show black screen and wont run the video. So far i makeshift this problem with a clean brave browser for running youtube videos and it worked even when I log in with my youtube account there.
I see a lot of people here asking for good ad blockers, so I figured I’d share one that’s been working really well for me.
For a long time I bounced between a few different blockers because something would always break — YouTube ads getting through, sites detecting the blocker, or things just slowing down the page.
A few days ago I started using TubePower and honestly it’s been one of the smoothest ones I’ve tried. I haven’t really run into issues with ads slipping through, and it also lets you block certain videos/channels and hide stuff like Shorts on YouTube.
It’s been pretty set-and-forget for me so far.
Just curious if anyone else here has tried it or has other blockers they think work better?

Hello, so here's the thing: I've never had a problem with videos freezing except for this little pop-up and the 5-second loading screen every time I start a video. I use YouTube a lot and it's driving me crazy. I use Ubo Lite with Chrome, and I had it paired with Adblock for YouTube, which worked for a while, but the problem came back. I tried Safari with wBlock, which worked well, then it came back. Does anyone have a solution for this "Your video is freezing?" pop-up? Hey, so I've been struggling with adblock and youtube for a bit (mostly adblock and addlbock plus) and I've seem to have solved the "adblockers not allowed on youtube" problem with tampermonkey or uninstalling. HOWEVER, no matter what I do, uninstall adblocks, mess with tamper, delete mix options, no matter what videos listed as MUSIC VIDEOS always get flagged and get the annoying adblock warning, and even when I press allow youtube adds, it appears again and again. any idea how to fix this? I've sideloaded the YouTube Ad-free app via the developer mode as explained here.
While it does work great in removing ads, I am now locked out of changing the playback speed of YouTube videos. I've found some old comments referencing the same issue, but not much else.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and hopefully found a solution?
If not, I might as well use the official app, as the ads tend to be shorter than the time saved by watching at faster speeds.

I'm looking for a VPN that blocks ads, systemwide, not just for an app. So far there's NordVPN Proton, and Surfshark mentioned. Also saw Windscribe has ad blocking on their free plan but limited. Proton's NetShield seems solid but only on paid. Nord's Threat Protection is comprehensive but pricier.
Just wanna get some personal inputs from people who are using, or have used these. How well do they actually work? Does ad blocking slow down your connection? Do they really block all of the ads?
