Let's end the debate between uBlock origin lite, wBlock and Wipr2 for safari browser.

I am running safari as my default browser and now I have to decide what adblocker to use. It seems like UBOL, wBlock and Wipr2 are the go-to apps. So which one in your experience is better? By the way I am wondering what happened to the wBlock developer from MIT since his reddit account has been deleted.

How do I stop this?

How do I stop this?

I’m tryna get my home account on my school Chromebook but they somehow blocked the add account page. Also the only reason I’m doing this is cuz they made YouTube unusable. We can go on the site still, it’s just every video we go on says, “This video belongs to a blocked category: (placeholder).” Honestly if that can be fixed, then I’ll be happy

Where can I find public proxies for TTV LOL PRO?

Hi! I need some help.

I downloaded TTV LOL PRO and found out that it supports using both public and paid proxies. The problem is that I've been trying to find these public proxies, but I can't seem to find a list or anywhere that provides them.

The documentation mentions that public proxies are available, but it doesn't seem to say where I can actually find them.

If anyone uses TTV LOL PRO and knows where to find these public proxies, could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!..

OTT ad block on projector

What can i do to block ads on OTT for a smart projector/tv. The ads on OTT have increased by a lot and I can install some ad blocking extention when watching OTT from chrome but I can't do the same on smart projector/tv since the OTT is on apps and not on browser. I tried screen sharing from laptop to projector also but the websites block the videos with a black screen when they detect it. Does any one have a solution for this?

What are the purpose of those "Flashing Ads"?

So, in some websites, there are "flashing ads". These are pop-up ads that often show up with a very small square-sized pop-up window at any of the corner of your screen. Even more strangely, if you try to close it down. It will start "blinking". By "blinking", I mean that the pop-up window will start jumping between any two corners of your screen to avoid it being closed.

By the browsing history, I got the address, which looks very weird too, e.g. (I know this segmentation of URL is stupid but reddit will remove my post if I simply copy-paste it. And also to avoid people from clicking it.)

The first part of the URL (after https://) is: gcpstkgpmcjwtq

The middle part of the URL is: .com/?

The last part of the URL (which seems to be generated differently every time) is: js=KIa3gQbAKrR6y5YMuHS08wbdwPOSnrM5A9HyX-hxVlEeaE86ALkXhS2IWPNbAJw9yikvFbHXlxbuqV9oWrcdlRkpIZFOB-znG4MReiUv6-qR-Kj-6ziH2oRxXIY4g3vrufEalwZaxedZ20H-kHzkPlfsG1bG91h3yrpdKGkPmjFGifcswDWngdPa6gSUzZkZfytsxjpLJVTj

Could any explain this? What's the purpose of it? What should I be aware of?

Need a good ad blocker for watching anime 😭

I used to watch anime on random websites using Brave because the ad blocker used to work perfectly. I also used AniLab since it had a download option, but now that’s gone too 😭. I still have a few websites I can use, but the ads and pop-ups are sooo annoying. Brave’s ad blocker doesn’t seem to work anymore, so what do you guys use? Is there any good ad blocker/browser that actually works?

DuckDuckGo browser doesn’t work anymore, I need MORE youtube alternatives ONCE AGAIN!!

And now the DuckDuckGo browser after an hour of working perfectly no longer works and I got the exact same ad I described last time on another video just now!!! THIS IS BEYOND AGGRAVATINGLY RIDICULOUS!!!!

I used to use keltube without any issues at all until the update last month that set a month long limit on watching videos without a subscription that made me delete the app on the spot! Keltube, my only working solution that was left, has now become a PAID ADBLOCKER with all of my Playlists I made on it effectively DELETED, JUST LIKE WITH BLUEPLAYER!!!

Now I’m left with absolutely NOTHING!!! ONCE AGAIN!!!! Piped, Invidious, Invuedious, Poketube, Skipvids, Blueplayer, Keltube, Cloudtube, Viewtube, SwizzTube, Tubo, even the Brave browser ALL DON’T WORK!!!

Every! Single!! TIME!!! Every single time that an iOS app or browser for my tablet FINALLY works, it either suddenly doesn’t or becomes a PAID ADBLOCKER!!! Sometimes with my Playlists I’ve made over the months becoming unusable and WORTHLESS!!!

And before you say Yattee, that ALSO doesn’t work!! I’ve tried multiple times to search for videos with multiple host names and not ONE single video has shown up in my searches!!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! Is THIS what I have to deal with just because I want to watch Todd in The Shadows’ Top 10 Worst Hit Songs videos!? The ONLY solutions I now have either have ads INSIDE the app that is SUPPOSED to BLOCK ADS or demand a subscription, making them PAID ADBLOCKERS that are NOT allowed on this very subreddit!!

We now need Adblockers for fridges, TV software, PC monitors, toasters, cars and even TOILET PAPER DISPENSERS IN TOILETS THAT CAN’T GET ADBLOCKERS PUT ON THEM BY THE PUBLIC!!!! And now playstation is genuinely considering ads IN THE CONSOLE DURING GAMEPLAY, meaning that in the middle of a boss fight in a hard game, right when you’re about to deal the final blow in a game that can’t be paused, YOU GET KICKED DOWN TO THE GROUND BY A DAYS-LONG UNSKIPPABLE AD HARMING YOUR EYES AND EARS AS YOUR CHARACTER DIES AND YOU LOSE ALL YOUR PROGRESS IN THE LEVEL OVER SOMETHING THAT WASN’T YOUR FAULT MEANING YOU’VE LOST POTENTIAL DAYS OF PROGRESS SO WE NOW NEED TO HACK THE CONSOLE TO INSTALL AN ADBLOCKER ON THE GAME CONSOLE ITSELF TO STOP PROGRESS FROM BEING LOST OUT OF THE PLAYER’S CONTROL!!!!!

I keep searching!!! I KEEP SEARCHING!!!! NOTHING is a permanent solution!!! It’s every single time like this that I have to ask what alternatives are STILL remaining after I’ve used more than TWELVE different alternatives for iOS!!

I!! Need!!! More!!!! ALTERNATIVES!!!!! ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!

Want to block ads on Android? Start at the device level.

Ads aren't just annoying, sometimes they can introduce tracking, malicious redirects, phishing pages, and distracting content, especially on devices used for work or learning.

For managed Android devices, one approach is to block ads by endpoint-level web filtering rather than relying on a browser-specific ad blocker.

IT admins can Create a web filtering policy -> Block Mobile Advertisements and Web Advertisements categories -> Apply the policy to selected Android device profiles -> Monitor blocked traffic through logs.

The policies are enforced at the device level, so users don't have to configure an ad blocker themselves.

Adnauseum is basically Ublock origin, some can say its better since it also clicks on ads to poison your ad personalization data.

So why doesnt it get the same attention as other adblockers? You see the downloads on Adnauseum is a fraction of UBO, Adguard, or Ghostery.

Any idea why?

Which site has the most ads ?

I know it might not be relevant to this sub, but I have a college project on the importance of adblocker and quite a few other things on the web, So I decided to show a live demonstration.

The idea is i'll visit the site with ubo off and show how dirty the site is filled with ads and trackers and stuff. Then I'll turn on ubo and show the difference and show how many ads and trackers it blocked.

Can I get a list of site which bombard you with ads the moment you visit them ?

I would appericate if its not a NSFW site with NSFW ads since its a College demonstration.

Weird solution to new Adblock Pro YouTube error (dunno the specific error code)

Hey there! So I've noticed a few people talking about a new error that is occurring while using Adblock Pro that is making videos constantly buffer between the 0:00 mark and the end of the video. Well, I haven't dealt with it on my computer (I use opera gx with ublock origin), but my boyfriend has (Microsoft edge with Adblock Pro [yes him using edge is very cringe, he will not listen to advice]). Anyways, he discovered a weird workaround. So if you queue up a video on the same account on YouTube TV, and it loads an ad, it will make it work on your computer instantly. Also, there were no errors on demonetized content. So hopefully this is helpful to someone. Very strange, but it works.

TL;DR- run a video that is on the same account as your PC on the YouTube TV app until an ad plays. Your queued video on your PC will instantly boot up.

ai Adblocker

So i know that many loath ai, but some of the bigger models are great classifiers and believe it or not do a great job finding ads. ai is currently too slow to do on first page load, but in the background it can work and after a couple of page loads, it starts detecting very well. It also relies on tried and true public lists.

It does initially download an ai model depending on your hardware. Everything is transparent in the system tab if you want to see under the hood. it also does Anti-Fingerprinting, Auto Block Cookies and cookie popups, Canvas fingerprint randomization, WebRTC leak protection, and Navigator spoofing too. Most sites also use cookie cutter ad placeholders, the extension "sees" this and kills them on other sites as it loads.

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/lmhbchhcggpedeldekklklkobjpgbbip

Since everything is 100% local, If you have a decent GPU and care to provide some feedback, would like to see what the world thinks. Some sites it acts pretty aggressive, I'm working to see if I can find a better balance. I used to rely on blocking at the DNS level, but want better control in the browser.

YouTube Ads

YouTube Ads

These are screenshots of the android YouTube app on GrapheneOS (I've covered over anything identifying the channel). The person who's phone this is thought their phone had been hacked and that's why they're seeing these messages. What they said to me was "I'm getting messages on my phone that my photos are not safe and I need to ..." What had actually happened is they had "accidently" installed the native YT app and prior to August 2026 they never had to see malvertising like this because FF for Android has uBO in it and aggressively blocks this stuff.

What I want to point out is the fine details of the malicious ad:

  1. The ad reads "Warning. You are currently using an older version of the PDF reader. If you do not update, you may lose your data." and has what appears to be a button on it that says "Update". It is designed to look like a system message.

  2. The user had already clicked on "Skip Ad" at the start of the video, and thus it had not registered with them that this was in fact another ad but not a video ad. Remember the context: they usually have a clean experience of YT thanks to adblocking, it was not intuitive that after clicking on "Skip Ad" another non-video ad would pop up.

  3. The malicious ad abuses its position in the viewport. This is made possible because of the design of the Android app; as mentioned this phone is running GOS hence it's a Pixel series phone with a standard sized screen, YT are the ones in control of the viewport.

  4. As above, the ad itself is not labelled as an ad until you scroll down; and that's not intuitive to a new user to the app. There's no visible scrollbar and no indication that anything about the ad continues further down, and the word "Sponsored" is not visible until you scroll down.

  5. The app itself is obviously a malicious app, and herein completes the circle. YouTube is advertising it, Google is publishing it on their Play Store and ordinary users put far more trust into the Play Store.

  6. These malicious ads had been appearing regularly.

  7. A malicious ad does not need to be particularly sophisticated to trick the user.

The point of this post is to clearly demonstrate to the people who say "we need advertising to pay for ..." that the advertising we have is malicious and there is no way for anyone other than the ad publishing networks to fix it. The YT channel owner can't make sure ads like this are correctly labelled, they can't reposition them in the viewport, and they can't review malicious ads like this that get shown to their viewers prior to them being shown.

Lapsing "Skip Ad" button

I wanted something that skipped ads as soon as possible, so I made an app.

Are you cooking, showering or simply can't be bothered to wait for that "skip" button to turn solid white?

This app will do just that.

https://github.com/ComfyDoug/Test

There is a readme file with descriptions and instructions in case you want to recreate the same yourselves.

Or you can download the already compiled file.

I'm also working on another one to hide/obscure any ad that I deem inappropriate, like AI dating, gambling and such.

Curious to know if anyone would like to try that.

Stop Posting those Pesky Ads online, and Sending Junk and Spam through Email.

I am in my 60s, and I like to play games on my iPad to keep my mind sharp. Many games have these pesky ads that pop up every 10 minutes. Most of the ads are about learning AI programs that claim to be free. I learned from experience that not everything is free.

I will admit I have watched ads until the end, filled in my personal information, then thought about it, changed my mind, and canceled the free trial.

In the past, the mailman delivered junk mail, and we usually threw sales ads in the trash. Email arrived and shortened the time for letters and bills to be sent and received, and those pesky ads started taking up more space in your inbox than your usual mail.

Personally, I like my mail being delivered by the mailman because it is a hard copy that can be used as proof. Email has become so complicated that I rarely check it. The spam, junk mail,
and email from people I don't even know.

I do not like those ads that offer a free trial period, because I often forget to end the subscription before the trial date ends. These ads, spam, and junk mail need to stop.

My YouTube now says Translate to Chinese?

I’ve never used ad blockers before and downloaded one called pop up blocker due to the number of downloads and reviews and it worked pretty well tbh. But I’ve noticed this on my youtube. Location and language all are correct however this is still what shows up, I’ve since removed it and started using uBlock Origin Lite however It still shows that. (it’s barely been 10 mins, I refreshed it lol) should I be concerned and how can I fix it, if it is indeed a problem.

I’m not the greatest with stuff like this as you can probably tell. Thanks!

Problem with "secret adblock"

So my line of thinking is that anyone on the street wouldn't be able to see into my pockets like a RPG NPC, and requesting a servers information and ads while simply not displaying the latter should be relatively unknown as well.

https://preview.redd.it/zjln7hov77jh1.png?width=816&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab16ed3d30ed15e3a41826819a5ec45e44e8a401

A recomendação do site oficial do Blockify é NÃO BAIXAR QUALQUER TIPO DE EXTENSÃO QUE SE PASSE PELO Blockify OU BAIXAR DE FONTES DESCONHECIDAS.

Blockify update: I had Claude strip it's tracking capabilities

After Blockify being blocked from the Store I had Claude look up the reason for it by uploading the CRX file. This is what it gave me back:

1. It uploads your entire browsing history. The background script (analytics.js) registers listeners on every tab navigation and, with no opt-in or consent gate, sends the full URL of every http(s) page you visit, plus the referrer, a persistent per-user UUID, your user agent, OS, browser version, and timezone to insights.getblockify.com. The payload is encrypted with a key hardcoded in the extension (ej0hie1MThoo8Ri2), which hides it from you, not from them. stat.init() runs unconditionally at startup. This is the single most damning finding — it's a browsing-history harvester.

2. It can post YouTube comments from your account. opt/yt_autocomment.js (injected into every YouTube page) posts promotional comments like "loving this video ad-free with Blockify!!" via a hidden iframe while you're logged in, up to one per 24 hours. The comment texts are fetched remotely from blockify.b-cdn.net/cc.json, meaning the developer can change what your account posts at any time. The code claims it's opt-in via a promo popup, but the mechanism itself — remotely controlled comments posted silently from your identity — is a spam-bot capability.

3. Remote configuration / kill switches. It regularly fetches switches190.json from a CDN to toggle behaviors remotely, and there's dormant (currently commented-out) code for injecting hidden iframes from browsebetter.io — a domain associated with monetization frames — into pages.

4. Excessive footprint. It requests host permissions for every website (*://*/*), runs content scripts on all sites, and exposes all its resources (web_accessible_resources: "*") to every page and every other extension, which makes you fingerprintable and is a security anti-pattern.

Therefore I had Claude strip these capabilities and give me the hardened version of the add-on:

I stripped (each is now an early return; before the network call, or removed outright — the ad-blocking code paths are untouched):

  • Browsing-history uploadanalytics.js reportAction no longer POSTs every visited URL + referrer + UUID to insights.getblockify.com/process.
  • YouTube auto-commenter — removed from the manifest's content scripts and the file stubbed to a no-op, so it can't post comments from your account or fetch remote comment text (cc.json).
  • Three /metrics beacons — the Spotify, YouTube, and promo-opt-in event pings (each sending your persistent UUID) are disabled.
  • Two Sentry error beaconsreportErrorToSentry / reportErrorToSentry2 no longer send your UUID + diagnostics to sentry.getblockify.com.
  • Auto-update removed — deleted update_url so Chrome can't silently pull the original tracking build back over your clean one.
  • Store verification metadata removed — deleted _metadata/ so the edited files load without a content-verification mismatch.

PM me if you want the ZIP file.

Blockify gone

Just booted up my PC and I've been informed that Blockify has been removed from my browser "due to malware, suspicious behaviour, or a policy violation" but when I looked on the Chrome Web Extension, the page is gone. Does anyone have an alternative to Blockify as my usual adblock stops Spotify from working?

Weird YouTube ad free experience

Hello! It’s my first time posting anything on this app, but something’s been bugging me and I hope it could at least be explained. For the past 3ish years I’ve had YouTube on my iPhone 14 be ad free. And no I wasn’t subbed to YouTube red for three years without me knowing. When it first started I hardly realized and hoped it would continue because why have ads when I can enjoy my videos. UNTIL RECENTLY, I found out how to download local music onto the Spotify app. I downloaded a file onto my iPhone files, uploaded it onto Spotify and the song worked, but after that… ads came back. WHY WAS THAT THE AD FREE KILLER?! Am I the only person to come across ad free YouTube without any vpn or ad blocker on my phone? I also didn’t know if I should post this on r/YouTube or here but I thought it to be a safer bet here. I’m not that knowledgeable when it comes to tech either so I’m hoping to learn a thing or two from this mystery

Is there a way to stop temu from opening tabs? (Android Mobile)

Recently whenever I try to X out of a temu ad it redirects me into opening the Temu website and it's getting really irritating to have to close it every time, is there a way to stop this or am I doomed?

new release of zed adblocker

Hello,

I just noticed a new release of Zen Ad-blocker and privacy guard for Windows, macOS and Linux.

https://github.com/irbis-sh/zen-desktop

It is a system-wide blocker, free and open source (so it doesn't depend on MV3 and works on all browsers).

I'm using it and I really like it.

Is uBlock Origin down on YouTube for anyone else?

I've witnessed repeated ads on YouTube despite having uBlock Origin on. I am concerned about when it will begin functioning again, and whether or not this is an isolated incident. Any information?

Mental Health + Quality of Life Upgrade = Adguard

I don't think I've ever left a public review of any software I've bought - but AdGuard has genuinely helped shift extremely bad habits I have with social media, and also made me realize how insanely aggressive data gathering is on everyone. I read about adguard on this forum after trying a number of VPNs (I landed on windscribe which I still dig overall, especially w/ split tunnel working), and I installed it on my mac laptop, iPhone and then Windows PC I use for gaming. I was able to ditch the IG app completely and instead saved it as an icon on my phone screen to load the browser version - and I literally get to use IG without seeing ads. Felt like the first time "social media" is social again...(fingers crossed MySpace actually gets brought back)

Also getting to visit sites I know are struggling and regrettably having to lean on ads to support them but....now I get to ignore all of that, and still visit sites I love without having literally any ad interruption.

So unsponsored rambling with a software product that feels like the equivalent to fridges they used to make 20 years ago......built to last, just works. Please never let this thing get sold to a conglomerate.

The Woes of Youtube Adblocking

The Woes of Youtube Adblocking

Recently, I've started getting into a repetitive tussle with YouTube and my ad blocker of choice, Pie Adblocker (PAB).

This isn't exactly a new problem, but it's become increasingly annoying. I used to have three ad blockers enabled at once: Pie Adblocker, uBlock Origin, and AdBlock Plus. I've since had to rely primarily on PAB, as YouTube has become increasingly aggressive about detecting and combating ad blockers.

Here's what's been happening:

YouTube, as it should be.

Previously, I could watch videos to my heart's content with PAB enabled. Now, when I try to watch a video, I get a gray screen.

Aw shit

If I toggle PAB off, the video plays and ads run normally. If I turn PAB back on, the gray screen reappears.

I don't want to deal with this.

At first, I figured I might need to update Chrome, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. I'm not experiencing anything similar on other sites.

... :/

The workaround I've come up with for now is to repeatedly toggle PAB off and on and refresh the page until the video eventually plays. Obviously, that's pretty tedious.

**Is anyone else using Pie Adblocker experiencing this same behavior with YouTube? If so, what did you do to fix it?**

I specifically want to know what might be causing the gray screen and whether there's an actual fix/workaround beyond repeatedly toggling PAB and refreshing the page.

Built a Chrome/Edge extension to skip ads and block trackers automatically — open sourced it

I've been annoyed by ads interrupting videos and tracking scripts everywhere, so I built StreamBoost — a browser extension that auto-skips video ads, blocks trackers, and adds video shortcuts (Picture-in-Picture, playback speed control, etc).

It's written in vanilla JavaScript using the WebExtensions API, MV3 compatible. Blocks 20+ known ad/tracker domains and handles popup/popunder blocking too.

Fully open source under GPL-3.0 — repo has the full source, README with setup instructions, and it's open for contributions if anyone wants to extend the blocklist or add features.

Repo: https://github.com/abushama1-ar/streamboost-extension

Happy to answer questions about the implementation or hear feedback on the approach.

YouTube runs better through vpn?

I’m finding YouTube struggles even at 360p through Firefox + uBlock

However when I run YouTube through Browsec VPN I can stream in higher quality without buffering

Can anyone explain this? The vpn is going through Germany and I’m from UK

Is YouTube capping me for running uBlock? How would a vpn bypass this? I’m so confused

Does this aggressive advertising feel like extortion to anyone else or am I overreacting?

Did they really have to word it like this? It's like they are fully aware of how annoying they are and they are smugly telling you that you can get them to shut up if you pay up.

Microsoft Edge officially dropping Manifest V2 support by the end of 2026

https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/1tlkaaw/comment/p2bmcpm

https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2026/08/07/moving-the-microsoft-edge-extensions-ecosystem-forward-with-manifest-version-3/

For those exclusively sticking to MS Edge for allowing full uBlock Origin installs or other MV2-exclusive privacy extensions from their Add-ons Store will have to start looking for alternative blockers/tools or switch browsers altogether.

Adblocker for YouTube? [Android tablet]

I know that there are already posts about this on the sub but I've only seen the private dns trick and brave browser for Android tablets.

I tried both but sadly the private dns thing doesn't work for me on YouTube and brave browser lags wayy too much and my device isn't able to handle it.

I'm looking for some more options which preferably let me use the YouTube app itself instead of a browser

Thank you in advance :)

I poked around the settings a bit and I do see that disabling "wBlock Scripts" in the extensions menu fixes it, but I haven't been able to drill down deeper to see how I can disable this feature specifically.

If you really have to use uBOL, what do you use to complement it?

Hi everyone, I'm curious what you all use to complement uBOL. I was wondering, what do you think of using it alongside the AdGuard Extra (userscript) + Unwall combination?

Note: My English isn't great, so this post was translated by an LLM.

By the way, please stick to the question and don't suggest other alternatives—for the sake of this discussion, let's assume uBOL is strictly the only primary blocker being used.

[uBlock Origin Lite] YouTube Playback Issue: Time Showing Section (Timestamps?) Flickering between 0:00 and the Length of that Clip

[uBlock Origin Lite] YouTube Playback Issue: Time Showing Section (Timestamps?) Flickering between 0:00 and the Length of that Clip

Has any chromium-based browser users also encountered this issue using uBlock Origin Lite? For mine Arc Browser here, this hassle pops up after playing the first video, the second video playback halted and kept doing some like refreshing the page. One notable mark is that time indication section flickers between 0:00 and the length of that video.

I've tested Librewolf + uBlock Origin and there's no issue there on YouTube video playback.

I'm looking for a solution. :(

Weird issue with youtube and ublock origin on both opera gx and firefox. Videos stuck in a stop and start loop.

I am not getting any like anti adblock warning but what is happening is the video is constantly stopping and starting as if the page is refreshing. Almost like it tries to skip the ad and gets kicked back to the beginning of the ad and stuck in a loop of that.

On firefox refreshing the page actually fixes it on Opera GX it doesnt. But I have to do it everytime for every video.

Has anyone run into this and fixed it by chance?

What if ad blockers could do more than just block ads?

What if instead of just removing ads, an ad blocker could create a cleaner experience and give users some value back from the attention they already spend online?

Still just an idea we’re testing. Curious what people think.
