Help with Imgchest?

I’m trying to look at something on Imgchest on my phone via Safari, and lately every minute — literally, I swear it’s on the dot — it’s redirecting me to some ad.

Is there any way to stop it? Most of the tips I found look like they’re for computer.

ublock and adblock plus don't work for me

Hey, since today, the two adblockers I alternate with do not work on my opera browser (and the opera adblocker doesn't work as well)
I know I could switch to brave/firefox, but I like to have the video in a small window when I'm doing something else (no second screen on a laptop). So if you know another adblocker that still works, I am interested in it.
If not, I'll switch to watching videos on Brave until they update it.

Thank you!

Block ads on GoogleTV

Im making an adblocker^3 that blocks adblocker blockers on news sites.

it will never be paid, ever.

Also. it has a "few" extra features:
- Blocks malicious redirects
- Stops malicious code from running
- Stops phishing attempts
- Blocks auto email subscribe when opening a page.
- Has built in antivirus (you should have seen this coming from the first 2)
- Is an app

only pay is that it takes 1% of your ram and storage and stuff and sends it to my bare metal server host so everyone can afford a server regardless of economic class or place. as my server host is free.
The code will be open source (read only) on the website once it launches.

what do yall think, should i add anything else before launch

uBlock AND Adblock Plus

I use uBlock Origin, Adblocker Plus, and Opera's built-in adblocker interchangeably (like when one doesn't work, I'll use another.) None of them are working anymore. Specifically YouTube. Adblock Plus is automatically adding YouTube to it's allowed listed websites, even though I've been deleting it. uBlock just isn't working, and neither is Opera's built-in adblocker.

Is there any way around this, or am I screwed for the time being?

YouTube playlist issues

Good morning, I am using Firefox on my desktop with Ublock. I don’t mind waiting a couple of seconds for video with no ad.

But recently I have not been able to use playlists. When I try to use a playlist I have put together or an existing one, the first song or 2 will play and than, YouTube will just play whatever it decides to play next, completely exiting the playlist.

Has anyone run into this issue?

Thank you!

Brave Browser is allowing some ads through even when blocked by DNS

I've just found that Brave Browser is allowing some ad domains through even though I have aggressive DNS and blocking on my network.

This can be proved by:

Running ad block tests such as https://adblock.turtlecute.org/

See that all Doubleclick ads are failing the block test as well as one of the Google ads domains.

Now turn OFF Brave Shields up, or set Brave to "Allow all trackers and ads", the page refreshes, and those categories are now totally blocked by DNS!

Brave must be using their own DNS blocking to allow domains like this on my network. Has anyone experienced this and have a workaround? I'm guessing maybe if I block whatever DNS server Brave uses might do the truck but haven't dove in yet.

I'm just shocked by this, Brave is obviously getting some google money here with these shenanigans, and this definitely reduces my trust in Brave, after happily converting from Firefox a few years ago.

Nextdns deleted my post

I posted a detailed audit of dead blocklists in r/nextdns, and instead of engaging with the data, the moderators simply deleted the post. Since they seem unwilling to discuss this, I'm bringing the technical facts here to get a community perspective.

Please clean up dead and outdated privacy/adblock lists (Detailed List)

"Hello NextDNS Team,

First of all, thank you for a great service. However, many users have noticed that the Privacy and Security tabs in the dashboard are cluttered with completely outdated, abandoned, or even empty blocklists.

Having lists that haven't been updated in years defeats the purpose of modern privacy protection and can even cause issues. I took the time to go through the dashboard and manually compile a list of outdated or broken blocklists that should be removed or replaced:

☠️ Completely Dead / Empty Lists

• Fanboy's Enhanced Tracking List (Empty, 3 years)

• 1Hosts Mini (Empty, 1 year)

• 1Hosts Pro (Empty, 1 year)

• Energized Spark / Blu / Blue Go / Ultimate / Extreme Extension / Regional Extension / Basic (All empty, \~4 months since abandonment)

❗Outdated / Abandoned Lists (2 to 6+ Years without Updates)

• Disconnect Ads / Malvertising / Tracking (6 years old)

• NSA Blocklist (6 years old)

• MVPS Hosts (5 years old)

• Antipopads (5 years old)

• Unchecky ads (5 years old)

• Shalla's Blacklists (adv / tracker) (5 years old)

• WindowsSpyBlocker (Spy) (4 years old)

• CAMELEON (3 years old)

• yhosts (3 years old)

• AdAway (3 years old)

• notracking (3 years old)

• Lightswitch05 - Ads & Tracking (3 years old)

• ad-wars (3 years old)

• AdAway Blocking Hosts File for Japan (2 years old)

• add.2o7Net (2 years old)

• bkrucarci turk adlist (2 years old)

• Personal Blocklist by WaLLy3K (2 years old)

• Latvian List (2 years old)

• No Facebook (2 years old)

• Goodbye Ads (2 years old)

• Barbblock (1 year old)

Keeping these lists active gives users a false sense of security.

Suggestions:

Please remove the dead/empty lists.

Thank you for looking into this and keeping NextDNS up to date!"

[YouTube] Playlist issues with ad blockers.

Adguard Premium Mod (Liteapks) not working on FireTV Stick anymore

Hi everyone,

I've been using the Adguard Premium Mod from Liteapks on all my Android devices for ages without any issues.

Today, I wanted to update the app on my FireTV Stick. I uninstalled the old version, downloaded the latest release from Liteapks, and installed it via atvTools.

However, the app suddenly doesn't recognize the patch/certificate anymore and asks me to purchase Premium.

What I've already tried:

  • Used the APK from Kpfire instead (same result).
  • Installed it via EASY Fire Tools instead of adbTools.
  • Cleared the app cache and data completely.
  • Tested the installation on a completely fresh/factory-reset FireTV Stick.

The strange part: The exact same new version works flawlessly on my Android smartphone. Also, my FireTV Cube (which is still running the older version) works just fine.

Has anyone encountered this issue with recent updates on FireOS, and is there a workaround or a specific version that still works?

Thanks in advance!

How to stop Adblock from blocking ads on a web site.

I'm trying to stop adblock from blocking ad on Snoops and a few other sites like Bored Panda but am unable. I click on the icon in the upper right and click on this website (the blue dot). Both this website and this page vere to left and go gray. Then I click on refresh this page. But that doesn't work. So I click on the icon again and I can watch it going from allowing to vering over to the left and not allowing.

What's up anyone know? Bored Panda, if I do that about 4 or 5 times it will finally allow ads. Not Snoops. Frustrating, hoping someone can help with this.

I use Google Chrome and Adblock Plus with Premium.

Got the adguard lifetime plan. Have few questions?

  1. I was using NextDNS free tier on device level (not router) to block ads. Do i need that? Should I use a faster DNS instead?

  2. How do i login using the windows app? i can see only option is to activate license or create an account. no login option

  3. On android there is no adguard app on playstore. But found that on samsung store. Is that legit?

  4. If i bind license to a device and reset that device, do i have to remove that license and bind again? or is it still attached with hardware ID or Mac

YT sponsor add-on

I've tried to post this yesterday but it was flagged by Reddit, not by the mods - not sure why. So I'll try again:

A year ago, I changed my default browser to Brave, specially due to the built-in function of blocking ads on YT - both on my computer and on my smartphone.

On my computer however, I went a bit further and installed as well an extension that detects and skips automatically the sponsor section of any video.

And since it works perfectly, I was wndering how can I do the same on my phone. I know that the app doesn't support extensions, but I remember when I found out about the sponsorblock add-on, someone else commented that it was possible to have something similar on your phone too (but I can't find that anywhere now).

\- Can someone help me with this? Thank you ☺️

(side-note: English is not my main language, so if anything sounds a bit confusing, let me know so I can try rephrase it better. Thank you!)

Since YouTube's war on ad blockers is clearly never going to end, what's your long-term game plan?

Yeah, I know we've seen a ton of posts about YouTube glitching out video players if you have an ad blocker enabled.

But let's be real for a second: Google isn't going to stop.

With Manifest V3 stripping down extension capabilities, the current workarounds and script updates we're relying on feel like temporary band-aids. What works today will probably be obsolete by next month when they change their server-side ad injection again.

Browser extensions are losing this arms race. So, what's the actual endgame here? are we all eventually going to use a VPN to spoof our location to some random corner of the world, and buy YouTube Premium for like $0.99 a month? (JK... unless?)

Let's hear your long-term setups.

I made a device that automatically mutes TV ads. Would love some feedback.

I made a device that automatically mutes TV ads. Would love some feedback.

Hey everyone, over the past few months I've been working on a device that will automatically detect and mute TV commercials.

I started this project after growing frustrated with the sheer number and repetition of TV commercials particularly on streaming services. I started manually muting commercials when they came on, but for those of you who also do that know, it can get annoying to keep on top of. I realize I could pay for "ad-free" streaming tiers but with a lot of the services you still get served ads and the costs of those tiers are getting pretty pricey nowadays (especially if you have multiple streaming services). Plus ads on cable or other non-streaming platforms still exist, so it doesn't totally solve the problem. So I set out to build something that would silence commercials regardless of the platform without having to manually mute.

The device I've built analyzes real-time outbound audio data from TVs to detect ads, and then modulates the downstream audio depending on the detection state. This modulation could be muting, turning down the volume, or perhaps splicing in your own audio content. For now, it just mutes, but those other options would be pretty trivial to put together. The hardware involved in this project is pretty straightforward and currently uses off-the-shelf components since I'm still in the testing/demo phase. Right now it can accept audio from an aux, RCA, or optical source and the outbound audio is played through an aux. The bulk of the technical complexity and challenge is on the software side. So far I'm able to pretty reliably detect ads, but it's still fairly buggy and a little ways off from being ready to fully share with the public.

One thing to note, however, this project/architecture requires the use of external speakers. Since the audio analysis and modulation has to happen after exiting the TV (due to the HDCP encryption used to protect content and DMCA 1201) this project isn't able to mute commercials on the TV speakers themselves.

To be perfectly candid I'd love to be able to turn this project into a product. But before I spend even more time and effort on it to get it to that point, I thought I should reach out to relevant communities and get thoughts/feedback from folks to see if other people care about this problem or if this is something that just uniquely bothers me. Since I don't have anything to sell at this point and am not sure if the final product will be closed/open source, hopefully this post is consistent with the rules of this sub.

With all of that said I would love to hear what people's thoughts are on the project. Really what I'm trying to figure out is:

  • Are you bothered by TV ads enough to want to use/pay for a device like this?
  • Would you prefer a soundbar/speaker system with this tech built in, or an inline device that would allow any speakers to be used?

If you'd like to answer these questions in a survey format so I can analyze the responses a bit easier, here's a link: https://forms.gle/Mzr9YPAfu3rkNnw96. It's just the same questions as above so shouldn't take more than a minute.

Please let me know what questions, concerns, feedback, or input you might have. Thanks!

MinusPod: self-hosted podcast ad remover now has opt-in crowdsourced patterns, learns from everyone else's corrections.

MinusPod: self-hosted podcast ad remover now has opt-in crowdsourced patterns, learns from everyone else's corrections.

MinusPod is a self-hosted server that strips ads out of podcasts before you play them. Whisper transcribes the episode, an LLM finds the ad segments, FFmpeg cuts them, and your podcast app subscribes to the cleaned feed. Bring your own LLM.

It also learns from your corrections. Fix a bad cut once, and MinusPod saves that sponsor's ad script. The more you correct, the better it gets. But every fresh install starts from zero. You re-teach your instance about Squarespace, BetterHelp, NordVPN, and a couple of hundred other sponsors that everyone else already taught their own instance about.

So the new release adds community patterns. Here's how it works, and what it does with your data.

What it is

A shared pattern set lives in the project's GitHub repo. Your instance can pull it on a schedule you set. Common sponsor reads get recognized without you correcting them first. It ships with a small starter set and grows as people contribute.

It's opt-in and off by default. Nothing syncs unless you turn it on. Leave the setting alone, and MinusPod behaves exactly like before.

Matching

Patterns are tagged so they only run against relevant podcasts. A VPN ad won't fire on a true-crime show that mentioned privacy once. Sponsors get tags like vpn or finance, podcasts get tagged from their RSS category (you can add your own), and a pattern only runs when the tags line up. Sponsors that advertise everywhere, like Squarespace or Audible, are flagged to always apply. The tag filter runs before any heavy text matching, so it stays fast as the set grows.

Privacy

Contributing is a separate, per-pattern, manual action. It never happens automatically. When you submit, the app strips everything that identifies you or what you listen to: which podcast it came from, the network, your timestamps, and match counts. It also strips PII out of the ad text itself, so personal email addresses and non-toll-free phone numbers get removed, while business contact info that's part of the actual ad copy stays. It runs quality checks, then downloads a JSON file.

From there you open a PR the normal way: fork the repo, drop the file into patterns/community/, commit, push, open the PR. The app gives you the exact git commands to copy-paste, so you're not guessing. Every submission gets reviewed by a human before it's accepted. Nothing auto-merges.

Controls

Sync schedule is a cron expression, defaults to weekly, and there's a manual sync button. You can pin any community pattern so a sync won't touch it. You can turn the whole thing off whenever you want, and existing patterns stay until you delete them yourself.

Caveats

The starter set is small right now. It gets better as people contribute, which means early adopters carry more of the weight. That's just how this kind of thing starts.

Tag matching is a heuristic. It will sometimes skip a pattern that would have matched, or run one that doesn't apply. When it skips, detection falls back to the normal LLM pass, so it fails soft, but it isn't magic.

This does not make MinusPod faster at processing audio. The Whisper transcription step is unchanged; it's still bring-your-own-LLM, and it still needs the same hardware. The patterns improve detection accuracy, not speed.

This is a new feature, and the contribution process isn't fully ironed out yet. If you try it and something is clunky, or you see a better way to handle any of this, I want to hear it.

Free & Easy Ad-Block on iOS using DNS (No subscription required) using DNSecure

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a quick guide and open up a discussion on how to get completely free, system-wide ad and tracker blocking on iOS without needing to keep a battery-draining VPN active 24/7.

If you want to block ads inside Safari and native iOS apps/games while using an elite, privacy-respecting DNS, this setup pairs DNSecure (an open-source native iOS profile configuration utility) with Mullvad’s Public Encrypted DNS.
Why this combination?

  1. Zero Logs: Mullvad runs their public DNS servers entirely in RAM and keeps absolute zero logs or metadata.
  2. Native Performance: Unlike apps that run a local loopback "fake VPN" to filter traffic (which drains battery), DNSecure leverages Apple’s native encrypted DNS framework. Once configured, iOS handles it natively.
  3. App-Wide Blocking: It doesn't just block ads in Safari; it blocks tracking and commercial banners inside third-party apps and mobile games.

How to Set It Up

Step 1: Decide on your filtering level
Mullvad provides specific endpoints depending on how aggressive you want the filtering to be. Choose one of these DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) URLs:
Ads Only:
IP: 194.242.2.3
URL: https://adblock.dns.mullvad.net/dns-query

Extended (Ads + Trackers + Malware):
IP: 194.242.2.4
URL: https://extended.dns.mullvad.net/dns-query

Step 2: Configure DNSecure
1. Download DNSecure from the App Store.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dnsecure/id1533413232
2. Open the app and select Custom (or tap the + icon).
3. Set the Protocol to DNS-over-HTTPS.
4. Paste your chosen Mullvad URL from Step 1 into the Server URL field.
5. Tap Save and select your new profile.
Step 3: Activate in iOS Settings
1. Open your iPhone's native Settings app.
2. Go to General > VPN & Device Management > DNS.
3. Change the checkmark from "Automatic" to DNSecure.

Critical Limitations to Know
First-Party Ads: This will not block ads inside YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook. Because those platforms serve ads from the exact same domains as their actual content, DNS filtering cannot separate them.

Carrier Blocks: Some strict mobile carriers block non-standard DNS endpoints. If you apply the profile and your cellular data completely stops working, it means your carrier is blocking Mullvad’s IP blocks.

Alternative Note: If Mullvad fails due to a carrier block, ADguard is an incredibly reliable fallback that uses heavily whitelisted infrastructure. And it’s already available in DNSecure predefined list.

**I would suggest you to do some research on the best private DNS filtering based on your region.

Curious to hear if anyone else is running this setup, or if you've run into any specific carrier blocks with Mullvad's endpoints on mobile data!

Adblock in Cloudflare Zero Trust

This started as a “fine, I’ll automate it myself” project after manually updating lists to block unwanted resources in Cloudflare Zero Trust one too many times.

Now it just pulls the official OISD small list, handles Cloudflare limits automatically, updates the lists and keeps the blocking rule in sync. No more manual copy-pasting and cleanup.

Originally built for my own use, but I cleaned it up and thought maybe other Cloudflare Zero Trust users here might appreciate it too.

SponsorBlock wasn't catching everything for me, so I built an extension that combines 5 detection methods (Heatmap, Chapters, Timeline...) to skip YouTube sponsors.

Hey guys,

I wanted to share a free tool I've been working on called Sponsorless. The goal was to create the ultimate ad/sponsor skipping experience for YouTube by combining multiple layers of detection.

Here is how it works under the hood:

  • It integrates the SponsorBlock public API (huge thanks to their community).
  • It uses a Heatmap heuristic (analyzes the "most replayed" data to find valleys and peaks, automatically skipping boring sponsor segments).
  • It parses YouTube Chapters and description timestamps looking for ad patterns.
  • It skips standard Google Ads.

I also added a feature where you can choose to just "fast-forward" (up to 8x speed) the sponsor segment instead of skipping it entirely, which is great if you want to make sure the heuristic didn't skip real content.

Everything is stored locally (chrome.storage), totally private.

If anyone wants to test how it holds up against the current YouTube ad waves, here is the link: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hmomgkigdemhaakjhemanocchicopaaj?utm_source=item-share-cb

Any feedback on the detection accuracy is highly appreciated!

Why doesn't everyone serve ads from the same domain just like YouTube?

Hey,

at this point it's well known that DNS ad blockers can't block YouTube's (or various streaming services') ads because they are served from the same domain like the actual content.

That begs the question why doesn't everyone serve ads this way if it's such an easy way to bypass DNS ad blockers?

Thanks!

AdBlock, FaceBook and Firefox.

Those are the programs/applications together I use on Linux Mint OS. When I turn on AdBlock it slows down the typing in comments on FB. Example I depress any key on the keyboard and it takes a second to display on the screen. Turn off AdBlock a keystroke displays immediately on the screen. I do notice an overall slow down on FB. AdBlock is uses to me.

Question about youtube on ipad lol

Hi all!

I have an issue on my iPad where I block ads in Safari on YouTube, and it leads to my home feed taking several tries to refresh to new videos (selected by the algorithm). I have to click "not interested" on a bunch of videos at a time because they appear over and over. If I don't do that, then I am looking at the same videos in the same order after refreshing.

Sometimes, closing out of Safari and reopening it does not fix it.

Just curious if anyone experiences this. TY

An adblock observation, S.M.H.

There's a magazine web page, not saying which one, but today an article caught my eye, what I was looking for, was stoked, clicked it to a new tab, literal huge red "SUBSCRIBE" dead-end flag appeared, copied the URL to text, pasted it in a private session of same browser type, read the gist of the article, looked at my most basic freebie ad blocker's count and by the time I finished scanning the article over 500 ads or whatevers had been blocked.

Rant over, thanks if you made it this far.

Reddit refuses to stop malicious ads

Reddit refuses to stop malicious ads

I made on post on r/RedditforBusiness that brought up the problem of malicious adverts to make Reddit aware of it. A Reddit customer support agent responded telling us to report such ads. My best guess is that dozens if not hundreds of people have reported such ads so far, and 3 months later, it's still a problem. In fact most adverts I see on Reddit are these scams:

https://preview.redd.it/eenjhwqvh31h1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=2dae499a48c1db6c4162e5edc5be7bb7ab9a6aba

As we can now see, reporting them clearly does not solve the issue, it doesn't purge to root cause. (No hard feelings towards the support agent, they are just forwarding information given to them). The scammers embrace their articles being short-lived, meaning they create literally thousands of different ones, using hundreds of different Reddit accounts to advertise them. Doesn't even help exposing one crypto scam's name, as almost every article is about a different one.

Reddit has to be able to detect these CLEARLY fake articles. Reddit seems to have a TERRIBLE system for approving adverts. It makes me think either that 1) there is no system in place to filter out malicious adverts, 2) people/AI checking for malicious adverts are incompetent, or 3) Reddit is intentionally slacking on this to make more money. What's going on, seriously?

People aren't happy with their adverts on Reddit, thousands spent with no results. I don't think it's too far fetched Reddit is slacking on this to make more money, perhaps there's a lack of better ads?

These scams are not only a problem because people might lose money, but I believe these adverts are tied to a large scam operation controlled by some larger entity. The call centres might be connected to modern day slavery. When someone inputs their details into these the scam sites, they'll often get a call from someone that tries to get them to invest or something else:

https://preview.redd.it/hcs11p66k31h1.png?width=7228&format=png&auto=webp&s=b213f3e202b0b2bbb655dd86d4af5eb39ba61f9e

This just serves as a reminder that adblockers are as important as antivirus software, especially for non-tech-savvy people. Platforms might tell you they lose revenue from them, but they don't deserve it if they aren't looking out for your or other's safety in the process.

I made this post initially to r/RedditforBusiness, as I already did with the previous one, but this one got removed by them for not being constructive feedback. Hopefully this community can appreciate it.

https://preview.redd.it/qxyftfzcz41h1.png?width=553&format=png&auto=webp&s=9ed6ced850963800afd0eed44088b95b9cb406bd

The things I talk about on this post are something you are all familiar with here, but non-tech-savvy people clearly aren't as these scammers keep advertising here. You can visit my earlier post to r/RedditforBusiness (linked at the start of this post) to see how large scale this scam operation is, so it's a huge problem Reddit is willingly ignoring.

Any sign of a Twitch adblock buffering fix?

I've noticed that the adblock issue on Twitch showed up with the current filter where instead it's buffering lately. I saw a post for it a couple months ago and it looks like, at least the code base for that original adblock script, hasn't been fixed. Has anyone seen anything recently that might work? I don't like this annoying infinitely buffering thing.

Does anyone know how to block ads for apps on Android?

One of my favorite games on my phone is Words with friends but it has a ton of insanely annoying ads after every play! I'd buy it but their game is a stupid monthly subscription scheme to get rid of ads. I'm not paying $10 a month just to get rid of ads. I'm hoping there's another solution. I appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Youtube blocks Sblock

I used the Sblock expansion for over a year since the last time Youtube blocked adblocks. Now it has been disable in the manner that if you turn Sblock on, the video won't load, citing internet error.

When I disable Sblock, it works fine (of course with ads now). I just downloaded "Adblock for Youtube" extension and it works fine (Minus a 1 second displaying the network error but after that it loads fine).

Tried a "clean" browser today without uBlock. I don't know how people live like this.

First , thanks to everyone here who recommended the Firefox + uBlock Origin combo. It's been a lifesaver.

I had to use a fresh browser today for some testing and visited a few news sites and a cooking blog. It was a total nightmare. Between the giant "cookie consents," newsletter popups, and auto-playing videos, I could barely even find the actual article.

The modern web feels literally unusable without filtering. It's like a high-stakes game of Minesweeper just trying to find the tiny 'X' to close the junk.

Does anyone else feel like browsing without an adblocker in 2026 is just self-torture at this point?

Best set up for protecting kid from seeing innappropriate ads, especially when playing games on smartphone?

I went ahead and purchased YouTube premium, but that doesn't help me with the ads my child sees during playing mobile games.

My main focus is my kid, but if I can stop ads on my partner and I's phones, laptops, or for streaming services on RokuTvs, that would be cool as well.

For our kid I need to make sure the wifi is covered as well as when only cell service is used.

On a side note. I am also looking into purchasing the Bark app in addition to all this stuff, for what it is worth.

If you guys could explain terminology that would be great. Idk what a lot words in subs related to adblocking even mean...

But any help is appreciated!! Im so lost

working for months now, BEST ADBLOCK i have ever used and i will never look back!!

NOT SPONSORED OR ENDORSED/PAID
JUST A HAPPY CUSTOMER WHO WANTS TO SHARE.
I am just sharing this to help other people with youtube adblocking, i had issues with finding a working one for years, moving through adblock pro, adblock plus and even tamper-monkey (none of them consistently worked)

This adblock extension has completely solved that problem and has been working non stop for many months now, you can start with the one week trial, and then after that it is a one time payment of $2, this is NOT a paid advertisement for the extension, i am just a person that appreciates when things WORK well and continue to do so without issues, I don't know what sorcery they are using but I'm extremely happy with the extension and would GLADLY pay $2 a month for this, everyone knows that advertising sucks and on youtube it can be extremely annoying! youtube premium is also way too expensive especially when most are already paying for other streaming services alongside it.
having an account with Goodtube works on multiple devices (main computer laptop and tablet for me)
Do yourself a favor and add it to your browser, it's absolutely worth it and i haven't had any ads in months! Also this extension has the edition of completely BLOCKING shorts and keeping your videos in your specific quality (1080p/1440p/2160)

is the pop up blocker on my TV's browser enough and reliable?

my Samsung CU8100 smart tv has a browser (Internet) and the browser has a pop up blocker option which i have already enabled. i watch movies on sketchy websites that include pop ups that can give you malware on the tv browser, but since i have the pop up blocker enabled, it's not showing. but i still wonder if relying on my browser's in-built pop up blocker is enough, or do i have to download a different browser with stronger adblock on the tv, which i don't think is possible. so how good/reliable is the pop up blocker on samsung's tv browser? if you have a samsung smart tv and is using the browser for the same purposes or if you know a thing or two then please let me know. because i really don't want my tv to get malware. would also like some tips about adblock on tv. thank you.

From a recent Twitter thread: Windscribe claimed that its extension can replace uBO, Ghostery, PrivacyBadger, ClearURLs, and HTTPS Everywhere. I like Windscribe but this is a bit of a bold claim, especially versus uBO whose full version (not uBO lite) does replace the remaining top 4.

YouTube videos purposefully buffering?

Has anyone noticed an increased amount of buffering at the start of almost every YouTube video recently? This happens on all of Brave, Chrome + uBO, and Safari + uBO. If you disable the adblockers, the video (or an ad, usually) loads instantly. It seems way too convenient and happens way too consistently.

edit: I should clarify this is only on desktop browsers, not mobile. Also, not sure why this was downvoted, Redditors never fail to be mad about nothing lol

is the pop up ad blocker on samsung tv's browser (Internet) reliable?

i go on p*racy websites on my samsung tv's (samsung cu8100, os 2211) internet browser to watch movies and such, and you guys already know that those type of websites contain pop up ads which can lead to malware if clicked. i did turn on the "block pop ups" option on the browser's settings so i don't get pop ups. i do want to ask if do i actually not get pop ups because of that setting or is there another reason why i don't get pop ups? because on chrome browser on my phone i blocked pop ups and redirects but i still get them so i wonder if the internet browser on my samsung tv is just as unreliable. if you go on p*racy websites on the samsung tv internet browser too, please let me know regarding your experience about the whole adblock and such. thanks.

i also want to ask if there are any other browsers with stronger adblockers that i can download on my samsung tv?

Is it even possible to block YouTube ads anymore without a headache?

I’m about to lose my mind with YouTube’s latest adblock detection. It feels like every time I update my filters, they find a new way to break things.

I’ve tried switching to Firefox with uBlock Origin since Chrome’s Manifest V3 update basically killed my old setup, and it’s been a bit more stable, but even that gets flagged occasionally.

Is anyone actually winning this cat-and-mouse game right now? I’ve heard people mention using DNS-level blocking or even custom scripts on Tampermonkey, but I’m curious what’s actually working for you guys in the long run. Are we all just destined to watch three mid-rolls per video, or is there a "set it and forget it" solution I haven't found yet? Thank you.

AdGuard “Error updating filters” on iOS

picture:

[ https://ibb.co/CKP7bQc1 ] -> Issue

[ https://ibb.co/pvqwWW2P ] -> My filters

Hi everyone,

I’m using AdGuard on iOS and recently ran into an issue that I can’t figure out. The app says protection is enabled, but there’s a message showing “Error updating filters.”

My setup:

• Device: iPhone XS • iOS version: 16.6.1 • AdGuard version: 4.5.19

What I’m seeing:

• Ad blocking is turned on and appears active • Most default filters (Ads, Privacy, Annoyances, etc.) are enabled • But the app fails whenever it tries to update filter lists

I’m not sure whether:

• My filters are now outdated and might not block ads properly • Or if this is just a temporary issue (server or connection related)

What I’ve tried so far:

• Turning protection off and on again • Manually refreshing/updating filters • Checking my internet connection

The error still persists.

Questions:

1. Is this a common issue with AdGuard on iOS? 2. Does this actually affect ad-blocking performance? 3. Any known fixes or workarounds for this?

Would really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks!

iPad 6th Gen (17.7.10 max) YouTube, Brave, and Safari/AdGuard not working or 360p. Alternatives or workarounds?

Been having issues, particularly tonight.

Both either won’t even load the video I’m trying to watch or it’s stuck to 360p.

(Firefox and Ublock require iOS versions higher than this tablet can get.)

Anyone using older iOS versions have any suggestions?
