PurpleTV 2.4 r2 (Twitch apk) no longer giving streamer went live notifications after getting new phone.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

I've tried reinstalling on the device. I've tried wiping cache, user data and then reinstalling. Not really sure what else to try since the other versions of the app don't successfully block ads for me.

I've also checked notifications settings on the website and on the app itself and they are all turned on.

YouTube search only shows playlists – Adblocker detected?

YouTube search only shows playlists – Adblocker detected?

(If this has already been discussed elsewhere, sorry!
I’d really appreciate it if someone could link to the relevant thread – I tried searching but couldn’t find anything that exactly matches this specific behavior)

I'm using the latest version of uBlock Origin (1.68.x) in Firefox.

YouTube works almost completely fine – videos play normally, no adblock warnings, filters are applied correctly.

But: When using the YouTube search (/results) page, only Playlists or Shorts are shown – and they repeat endlessly (see screenshots).
No regular videos appear at all. This only happens when uBlock is enabled.

As soon as I disable uBlock for the search page, all video results show up again.

Does anyone know a working filter rule or workaround to fix this – without having to disable uBlock entirely for YouTube?

My hosts file manager is growing !

My hosts file manager is growing !

So if you didn't knew about it before, I made a program that blocks Ads on your whole windows machine by using blacklists. The program name is called ZBlock and after some of you gave me your feedback, I used that to evolve and fix all of the annoying bugs it was causing.

The software uses a specific windows file called "hosts" (located under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc) to manage your connections to specific websites. ZBlock configures that file to redirect any advertisement domain to a computer that simply doesn't exist.

It is free, open-source and easy to use. If you ever come across an issue you can DM me and I'll give you a fix step by step.

Main Interface

About window (with included updater)

Just so if you mess with the app and end up destroying your computer, don't blame me because I've warned you. You'll computer will be safe if you follow the instructions on the Github wiki

adblocking on a chromebook/chrome browser

Howdy all!

Forgive me if this is a well worn topic, I'm a PC guy myself and happily use ublock origin on firefox.

My kiddo, on the other hand, has a chromebook that he uses for school (I bought it, not a school issue). Is there a best solution for killing the overwhelming advertising that he has to see?

Youtube adblocker

Hello,

a while ago I made a Youtube adblocker (GoldenAdblocker) and it only has 40 users yet, that is why I am asking you to give it a chance. The adblocker actually works differently and is not detected by Youtube. It hides the main player and uses the 'embedded' one to give you ad free experience. By using this method, the main player still shows ads and by syncing it with the embedded one, creators still get paid for ads, make money, and you see 0 ads. It is basically a win for both sides. You can download it here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/goldenadblocker-–-ad-bloc/kceccekgjgfdomichipipailldbkgbbf It is completely free to use. If you have any questions or even technical ones, feel free to ask. The adblocker is not open source, but I am planning to make it one day. All features have been remade for the embedded player, so it is like the main player, but with the old UI, so this also effectively also returns the OLD UI.

I built a free ad-blocker Chrome extension — looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹

I recently built a free Chrome ad-blocker extension that focuses on:

  • Blocking intrusive ads
  • Faster page loading
  • Simple & lightweight (no unnecessary permissions)

I made this mainly for myself and a few friends, but I’d genuinely love feedback from real users:

  • Does it block ads properly on sites you use?
  • Any bugs or missing features?
  • What would make it better?

Chrome Web Store link:

Not trying to sell anything — just improving it based on community feedback.
Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

I am so tired of being inundated with ads. It’s horrendous.

I’m so tired of them I’m willing to pay whatever I need to make them disappear. I don’t want them when I watch a YouTube video on my phone or when I am streaming something on my TV.

Any recommendations on what I should be using? Is there something I could make?

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS most likely because of ublock origin.

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS most likely because of ublock origin.

So I have an issue which is clearly stated here but I will rephrase in my own words as well:

https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/396605464/err-too-many-redirects-from-ublock-origin-lite

So basically, whenever I perform a google search, I get this error page ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS for a few seconds before google directs me to my designated search results. I think this is caused by the ublock origin lite adguard url tracking protection because when I disabled it, this issue went away. I cleared my cookies and reinstalled chrome but the issue is still there. I was wondering if any one else was having this issue and if there is a way to fix it.

I need EVEN MORE alternatives to youtube (on iOS) YET AGAIN!!

Now Blueplayer has decided to put ads on their app through a banner and I’M UTTERLY DEVASTATED!!!

I had finally found a means of watching youtube WITHOUT ads that only ian watkins would approve of and hack my system the moment they play and now it has gone the way of skipvids with YET ANOTHER subscription to remove ads like Adtube premium!!

I am left with absolutely nothing YET AGAIN!!! Invidious suddenly worked again, but it was only for 2 days before it suddenly stopped working with the video format suddenly not being supported out of nowhere despite videos working like usual just minutes prior, meaning ALL other alternatives relying on Invidious don’t work either!!

Now it’s back to square one YET AGAIN!!! Piped is broken like it has been for years and Poketube‘s site can’t even be accessed anymore! Cloudtube is worthless as usual and the same goes for tubo!! Invuedious, which I just discovered from a quick search, doesn’t play videos, and refreshing just gives me a 404 error like the bad gateway error from Poketube while Viewtube just gives me host errors!! SwizzTube used to work perfectly for three days when I discovered it this week before it suddenly stopped working and instead just punched me with pop-ups to donate every time I tap on ANY website!!!

I’m BEYOND fed up with the Adpocalypse and War on Adblockers!!! I just want to watch Caddicarus & all of Todd in the Shadows’ Top 10 Worst Hit Songs videos in chronological order and I now can’t do that without either getting my devices hacked or being stuck with only one hour of videos per day, meaning that if I want to listen to the entirety of All the Grand Memories of All the Lovely Years, I’ll have to do it over the course of ONE WHOLE WEEK AND FOUR DAYS!!!!

Are there ANY means of watching youtube WITHOUT all of this device-hacking ad crap left!? AT ALL!?! I’ve done EVERYTHING MULTIPLE TIMES and absolutely NOTHING works anymore!!! I’ve searched eveywhere multiple times on multiple occassions and at best, the solutions are only temporary!!

I! Need!! More!!! ALTERNATIVES!!!! I’m not even asking for a Fridge Adblocker, a TV OS Adblocker, PC Monitor Adblocker or Toaster Adblocker or Car Adblocker!!! JUST YOUTUBE WITHOUT ADS!!!! This mental health hazard can genuinely not stand!!!

What is left!? WHAT!?!

Best practices for ad-blocking:

As title.

There is more to it than just installing an ad-blocker. There are more angles everyone must cover in order to keep things working. I have a setup with Firefox that has not failed even ONCE in years. Never had an “adblocker stopped working today on youtube” or anything else.

What do you need to know?

First, you need to accept the fact the the browser that you use plays a good role on this. You might have hear this many times: avoid Chrome. This is the heart of the wolf that is ruining adblocking for everyone. The main Google house. Just avoid and import it to another browser. Do your research about which one fits you better. Firefox. Brave. Etc.

Go for the most praised and known effective ad-blocker. In this case, uBlock Origin. Avoid ABP, it is not the same as it used to be. Also NEVER use more than one ad-blocker simultaneously.

Assuming you completed the very first and main step of running away from Google Chrome and you chose a browser that can use uBlock Origin (preferrably not uBlock Origin Lite, but it is also solid), you need to set your browser privacy settings to the most strict setting. After this, clearing all cache and cookies to ensure no evil leftovers remains.

You also need a Canvas Fingerprint defender/scrambler so websites cannot place a permanent identifier on you.

You MUST also use other protection addons to cover different bases. If these addons have ad-blocking feature, you MUST disable them and exclusively delegate specific ad-blocking to uBlock Origin so that way you keep other protection types without interfering uBlock process. This way it does its job properly. For example i use Malwarebytes Browser Guard for malware, scams, phishing and trackers with its ad-blocker totally disabled.

Use a User-Agent switcher and manager. These spoof websites trying to gather info about you and your browsing arrangement. You can tell website you are using a specific version of Chrome when really using Firefox or another browser.

I use an Enhancer for youtube, which lets me cuatomize options otherwise not available on YT. I mention this only because it is part of my set.

So long story short, perfect ad-blocking is more than just one ad-blocker addon, but a set of multiple ones covering the other needed angles. Take your time and learn about this. This is also known as Browser Hardening.

Hope this helps. This has never failed me for so many years, not even once. Wishing these tips bring this for you too!

So here I was doing my usual daily peruse of youtube and I finally got the "we dont allow adblockers" message on youtube. Usually it's 100% tight though, it's strange, I know to restart the extensions and the browser when it happens with places like youtube, but this other sites and that didnt work anyway

E' possibile segnalarla? Lo volete provare? Saluto

YouTube's Anti-Adblock Detection 5-second delay update.

I'm not sure YouTube keeps changing scripts frequently to track us from using adblocks ever since the war began in October 2023. It's the most difficult to bypass and I'm pretty sure I cleared caches and cookies, and using one Adblock extension correctly using AdGuard or with uBlock Origin (using Edge or Chrome).

If you want to prevent YouTube from using a 5-second delay on a video page, make sure you avoid refreshing on a video page, and also add these scripts to AdGuard (in "User Rules") and uBlock Origin (in "My Filters"), (note: don't use multiple adblocks at one place, this can cause conflicts and more adblock detections which can be difficult to bypass).

vpn with ad blocker and i’m kinda overwhelmed trying to pick one

i’ve been looking for a vpn with ad blocker because my browsing experience has been getting super annoying with all the popups and random ads. i’m in the US and trying to keep my budget reasonable, but there are just so many options out there that claim they’re the fastest, the safest, or the best at blocking ads. it’s hard to know which ones actually deliver and which are just hype.

some reviews say one vpn works great for streaming but the ad blocker is weak, others say the ad blocker is solid but speeds drop too much. i just want something reliable that actually blocks ads, keeps me safe, and doesn’t slow down my connection. i’m not super techy, so i’d like it to be easy to set up and maintain too.

if anyone here has used a vpn with ad blocker recently, which ones actually worked well. did it slow your internet too much. do you need extra steps to make the ad blocker actually effective or does it just work out of the box. also, how trustworthy are the companies behind them, any weird privacy stuff i should watch for.

any advice or experiences would be super helpful before i commit to one service.

Can I get rid of ads on the YouTube app somehow?

I started using an adblock on Firefox today, but that version of YouTube is really bad. I did it because the ads on yt have become unbearable. It's not even about the quantity, it's just that suddenly a lot of the ads are some AI generated gooner stuff and they refuse to ban them. The only ways to possibly get rid of these ads on the app seem to be turning on personalised ads or buying premium, but I would rather avoid these, as they would definitely benefit YouTube and they don't deserve it. Is there any other option?

We've launched an enterprise ad-blocker!

We've launched an enterprise ad-blocker!

Hey r/Adblock! I'm Ansar, creator of Zen.

I wanted to share something we've been working on for a long time: Zen Enterprise, a version of Zen designed for small and mid-sized orgs that need reliable, centrally managed ad-blocking.

With the enterprise edition, we're focused on the security issues caused by online ads. Malvertising has become a major attack vector – Confiant recently reported that 1 in every 78 ads in early 2025 carried some form of risk, but many companies still rely on under-configured firewalls or browser extensions that can be disabled. We kept hearing from admins who wanted something trusted, simple, and lightweight that worked across every browser and OS.

Zen Enterprise uses the same open-source engine as Zen Personal, so improvements flow both ways. Zen Personal stays free and central to our mission; the enterprise edition just helps us keep the project sustainable without needing VC money or drifting away from what matters.

You can read the full announcement post or start here if you'd like. If you're curious, happy to answer questions or talk about the technical side!

Not trying to sell anything – just wanted to let you all know what we've been building and get your thoughts. And genuinely, thank you for the support many of you here have given along the way!

I made a free extension that auto-skips video ads, speeds up playback, and tracks time saved. No data collection.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called Flow Optimizer.

I got tired of constantly clicking "Skip" and waiting for slow content, so I built a lightweight extension to handle it automatically. It’s designed to be a productivity tool that keeps you in the "flow."

Key Features:

  • Auto-Skip & Speed Up: Automatically clicks skip buttons and speeds up ads/interruptions (up to 16x) so you barely notice them.
  • Productivity First: Includes a focus mode to hide distracting sidebars/comments.
  • Privacy Focused: No data collection, everything runs locally on your device.
  • Time Saved Tracker: A dashboard that shows exactly how much time you've saved.

Twitch Adblockers periodically becoming ineffective

Twitch Adblockers periodically becoming ineffective

This has been going on for a while now.
The ads are still being blocked, but as long as it says they're (stripping) it refuses to show anything on the screen. refreshing over and over does nothing to solve this issue.

(the userscript for ublock is in use already. so no it won't help here.)

what do you use for safari on a Mac?

I've used Adblock, Adblock pro/plus, adguard, ghostery... they all stop working a few months in. The only ads that really bother me are the YouTube ones... is there anything that works for you?

Targeted ads feel too accurate lately. Which ad blockers should I be using + other tools?

I swear something has shifted with the way ads behave lately. It is not just showing me stuff I searched for anymore. It feels like it knows the kind of day I am having. If I am stressed I get mental health apps. If I am tired I get coffee ads. After an argument I suddenly got relationship therapy ads. It feels too specific and too timely.

The weird part is I am not searching for any of that. I am not posting anything about my mood either. It feels like it is picking up signals from somewhere and I cannot figure out how. I am not trying to go down a conspiracy rabbit hole but it feels different from the usual tracking everyone is used to.

So now I am wondering if there is any way to actually block this kind of thing. Is it just normal ads being smarter or is there something I should be tightening up on my end. Are ad blockers enough or should I be using multiple tools together. Do people combine blockers, privacy browsers, VPNs, or anything else to stop this level of tracking. I am open to learning because this is starting to feel a bit too close for comfort.

Is ReVanced a trusted sight to block adds for my Android phone?

I mentioned this post before for my PC, but as of rn, I just want it for my phone. I like to listen to asmrs while I sleep, but those stupid adds keep waking me up and I've had enough of those adds doing this to me.

I just wanna make sure I'm not downloading a virus or anything that'll mess up my phone.

Anyone else having issues with news.com.au asking you to turn your Adblocker off?

This morning as I do every other morning hop on my PC to check the overnight news and one of the first sites I go to is news.com.au and I used Google Chrome and have never had an issue. This morning however out of the blue a big banner comes up that blocks 1/2 the screen and asks you to turn the adblocker off if you want to keep reading.

I followed the instructions from news.com.au to turn the adblocker (Ublock Origin Lite) off and I even went to disabling it totally when their instructions still wouldn't work and I still get the message to turn my adblocker off but there isn't one running..

Has anyone else run into this issue at all and I have ublock origin lite to block ads on youtube and it has worked seamlessly for me for over 12 month now but now this stuff comes up with the news site I get my news from.

I have even now just removed Ublock Origin Lite and Adguard from my PC completely and it still says that I still have an adblocker running.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

C

That albania vpn trick actually works lol

saw that meme going around about connecting to albania to avoid youtube ads and decided to test it because why not switched my vpn to an albanian server (was using purevpn but prob works with others) and holy shit, youtube is actually ad free. like completely. no pre-rolls, no mid-rolls, nothing. been watching for like 3 hours now and not a single ad apparently youtube doesn't serve ads there because of some legal thing? idk the details but its wild that this actually works and isn't just a meme only downside is some videos are geo blocked but honestly worth it for the ad free experience. way better than dealing with ublock filters breaking every other week anyone else tried this or know why albania specifically?

Youtube Adblocker (GoldenAdblocker)

Hello everyone,

I recently made a really powerful Youtube adblocker, which uses a different method that normal player filtering. It uses the embedded player to block ads. It also returns the old Youtube UI, includes all of your favorite features (e.g. auto play, theater mode, and more!) and videos loads as fast as possible. I will really like if you check it out here: Chrome Web Store or Official GoldenAdblocker Domain. Hope you will enjoy it, and give me some feedback!

Issue

I opened up adblock browser on my Motorola 5G but then I see new things:

  1. Tab groups and standard tabs is now visible

  2. Search tabs option is new

  3. Doesn't show the number of web pages you've visited when deleting browser data

How can I return everything back to normal? I feel like this had updated just like Chrome, which is why I haven't seen this before on my LG G6 phone.

The Different Types of Ads on the Mobile Web (and which ones really hurt)

You open one recipe page and your phone sounds like it’s trying to launch a weather satellite.
Welcome to mobile ads. They’re not all equally terrible—but a few are repeat offenders for battery, data, and sanity.

(Context: I work on a privacy-focused Android browser, but this isn’t a product pitch. Use whatever you like.)

What you’re actually seeing out there

  • Pop-ups / forced redirects.
The classic “Congrats!” page that steals focus or dumps you into a new tab. It’s less about sales and more about hijacking your session. Fix: keep pop-ups/redirects blocked; if one site keeps doing it, consider killing JS for that site only and move on with your day.

  • Sticky bars and floaters.
A banner glued to the top/bottom with a close button the size of a pixel. They cause layout jumps, fat-finger taps, and general grumpiness. Fix: Reader Mode or a quick cosmetic hide usually calms the page.

  • Autoplay video (sound optional, rage guaranteed).
Looks harmless until your CPU spins up and your data plan cries. If your battery melts while reading the news, it’s usually this. Fix: disable autoplay where you can; data saver helps too.

  • Full-screen interstitials.
You scroll… and boom, the whole screen is an ad with a tiny “×” hiding in the corner. These are pure flow killers. Fix: stronger content blocking helps; for sites you actually like, switch to Reader Mode or find their RSS instead of fighting every screen.

  • “Native” in-feed ads.
The ones that look like posts with a whisper-grey “Sponsored.” They’re first-party, so they dodge simple domain blocks. Fix: train your eyes; Reader Mode strips a lot of this fluff on article pages.

  • Content recommendation grids.
“Around the web” tiles with dramatic thumbnails. High tracker density, low signal. Fix: block the usual widget domains or just skip them entirely.

  • Pre-roll / mid-roll on videos.
Ad stitched before/during the video. Heavy on data and delay. Fix: if you’re on mobile data, lower default resolution and kill autoplay; that alone saves a chunk of pain.

  • Notification “ads.”
Months ago you tapped “Allow” on a site and now you live in Casino Town. Fix: prune site notifications; better yet, block prompts by default.

Some pages add a bonus layer: AMP / heavy page builders that shovel in a slot every few paragraphs. If a page thrashes around like a washing machine, you’ve found one.

So… which ones hurt most?

From the field:

1) Autoplay video and full-screen interstitials — top battery/data wasters + rage taps.
2) Rec-widgets and sticky bars — constant layout shift and tracker soup.
3) Native in-feed — hard to mentally filter; slips past basic blocking.
4) Pop-ups/redirects — security risk spikes and lost context.
5) Notification “ads” — out-of-band noise you forget you allowed.

A realistic 10-minute cleanup (no lifestyle change required)

  • Flip the basics: block pop-ups/redirects, mute/disable autoplay, hide notification prompts, enable “enhanced/strict” tracking protection (or equivalent).
  • Use a real browser, not in-app browsers: set it as default; long-press links in social apps → “Open in browser.”
  • Lean on Reader Mode: for long reads and widget farms, one tap = 80% of the clutter gone.
  • Fix repeat offenders once: clear that site’s data; if it still misbehaves, save a cosmetic hide rule or loosen blocking only for that site.
  • Notification amnesty: Settings → Site permissions → Notifications → revoke whatever you don’t recognize.

Optional: turn on a data saver and drop default video resolution on mobile data. Your battery will write you a thank-you note.

Quick myths, quick reality

  • “Install one blocker and native ads vanish.” → First-party units are built to look like content. Reader Mode helps more than people think.
  • “Autoplay is just annoying.” → It’s also expensive: CPU, GPU, and radio time stack up fast.
  • “All sites with ads are villains.” → Many are just trying to keep the lights on. We’re optimizing impact, not starting a holy war.

30-second triage when a page feels awful

Video starts itself? → pause/mute, kill autoplay, try Reader Mode.
Everything jumps around? → sticky bars/rec-widgets; Reader Mode or cosmetic hide.
Random redirect? → pop-ups/redirects must be off; if it’s the same domain, consider JS-off for that site.
Site breaks after blocking? → loosen for that site only and report the breakage so the lists can improve.

tl;dr
Mobile ads aren’t equal. The big villains: autoplay, full-screen takeovers, tracker-heavy rec widgets, and sticky bars.
Use built-in blocks + Reader Mode + per-site tweaks, and prefer a real browser over in-app views.
Goal isn’t “zero ads forever”—it’s less junk, less tracking, same content.

Disclosure: I work on a privacy-focused Android browser with built-in ad blocking. This post is product-agnostic—use whatever tools you like.

Should I stick with uBlock Origin or use AdGuard Browser Assistant extension?

I recently reinstalled the AdGuard app (lifetime family plan) that I purchased from Stack Social long ago. The ad blocker works well & it doesn't interfere with my two AdGuard Home DNS servers at home, as there's a setting to automatically turn OFF the DNS protection if I'm on certain wifi hotspots. It comes with a browser assistant extension that I also installed. The extension syncs well with the AdGuard app. I can't seem to decide if I should uninstall uBlock Origin & use this other extension.

Looking for rpa dev in geelark urgently

Hi, I hope you’re doing well.

I’m looking for a developer who can build an MVP automation flow directly inside Geelark, using the native RPA tools.

For now, I need only TikTok and Instagram account creation, running inside the cloud mobile devices. The flow must support: • Integration with SMS-Activate • Upload of profile picture, bio and name (variables provided by me) • All steps executed directly inside the Geelark device (app-based, not web) • Proxy and device setup already handled inside Geelark • After creation, the account must be properly warmed-up

Geelark already provides a warming-up flow, but we can customize it to make it more human, unique, and less detectable.

This is an MVP, so we can keep it simple, but it must work reliably.

If the MVP performs well, I will expand the scope to other platforms.

I have urgency for this, so please send your price and estimated delivery time.

How to teach computers that if I wanted it, I would have clicked it. Since I did not click it, it's always a "No".

If I wanted to share my location, I would've clicked that setting to turn it on. Since I never turned it on, don't ask me to share my location, you already know the answer, it is no.

If I wanted to subscribe to your email list, I would've clicked on the button to subscribe. Since I never clicked on the button to subscribe, don't ask me to subscribe, you already know the answer, it is no.

If I wanted to share cookies, I would have clicked the button to enable cookies. Since I never clicked on the button to enable cookies, don't ask me to enable cookies, you already know the answer, it is no.

If I wanted to log into my Google account, I will click the button and type in my password to login. Since I never logged in, don't ask me to login, you already know the answer, it is no.

If it were a yes, I would've taken the initiative and led myself to engage such settings. Since I have not taken a lead to engage such settings, leave me and my settings alone. I'll take the lead to set what I want to set. Computers need to stop trying to take the lead for us. They need to stop pushing things onto us that we never requested. Humans are the masters/leaders. Computers are the subordinates/followers, who need to follow our commands. Not the other way around.

I'm perfectly capable of doing what I wish and not doing what I do not wish. I do not need a computer trying to step on my toes. Back the ____ off and follow MY lead.

How do we finally get this set in stone for good so we can stop going over the incessant No's?

How do we get computers to only do the things that we command them to do, nothing extra?

How do we compute without having to constantly continually say no to every single thing that they try to throw at us?

I was looking at a system wide adblock solution for android and ended up comparing those two premium versions of adblockers that were suggested by Samsung.

I see Adguard is a lot more well-known but it's also a lot more expensive for a lifetime purchase ($80 vs ~$16). Is it worth the difference?

Any way to filter content on AdGuard ?

  • I bought premium AdGuard. Ad Block works fine!
  • I want to block feed content for various apps - example LinkedIn
  • But with the html components having rotating values for its attributes it keeps showing up (See Image)
  • I would use aria-label but it doesn't seem to work
  • uBlock used to have this feature where it would just help zap out a component and it stayed that way.
