How would you all feel about not an ad blocker, but an AI Blocker

Potential Chrome Extension AI Blocker

Feature 1: Blocks all Spotify / Apple Music / etc AI artists in regularly updated list
Feature 2: Scans content of pages and determines if any text is likely AI generated and highlights it
Feature 3: Scans images of pages and determines if any are AI , highlight or block these
Feature 4: Allows for configuration to block, silence, flag etc
Feature 5: Determines if support chat is AI
Feature 6: Determines if video is AI (stretch goal)

And probably a lot more

Basically the idea would be to flag AI content, and block it the same way ad blockers work

Block most ads on ios

Block most ads on iOS. 1. Download DNSecure -> set dns to adguard doh (block ads on most apps and websites)

  1. Download enhancements for YouTube (alternative YouTube app that would recommend)

  2. Go to TikTok settings -> ads -> turn off personalised ads (blocks ads on TikTok somehow)

  3. Open settings -> safari -> Block popups (Blocks ads on safari if some ads slip through DNSecure)

This is what I use. If you have any questions or recommendations, please tell me.

Prevent YouTube Video ads

Hey funky people,

Back in December last year, I decided to create a Chrome extension to block YouTube video ads.

The main reason? At the time, other blockers weren’t working for me, and the pub I hang out at didn’t want to pay for a YouTube Premium account. So, to save our ears from annoying ads while chilling, I built this.

What makes it different from other blockers?

  • It’s focused only on YouTube video ads.
  • It has an ultra-lightweight URL list.
  • It doesn’t use an observer, so it won’t eat up your memory.

It works by watching network responses and tweaking YouTube’s ad parameters in our favor. As a fallback, it can manipulate the DOM

I didn’t really advertise it much, but I can tell users aren’t uninstalling—so I guess that means it works

Chrome AdShield Ultimate YouTube Ad Blocker
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/adshield-ultimate-ad-bloc/gmjaaefflbggfiacjihajgijemdlhkeb

Firefox (uploaded few days ago)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ultimate-youtube-ad-block/

Enjoy ad-free YouTube! 🚀

Also someone noted in other post that this is more ad skipper and not ad blocker, but since it prevents ad from showing - I guess it fits ad blocks category?

Beware of Pie AdBlock Scam ⚠️

I am using AdGuard AdBlocker to block all ads, especially YouTube ads. It has always worked for me, until I installed Pie AdBlock. I used it for a while and didn't like it, so I uninstalled it. After I uninstalled it, somehow, I started seeing YouTube ads, however only Pie AdBlock ads. It was super weird because their extension was uninstalled. This went on for multiple weeks. I decided to disable some other extensions which might have some partnership with AdBlock. That fixed it. But it was super freaky and scammy that they hijacked YouTube ads to advertise their own AdBlocker through some other extension.

General advice

Hello Reddit,

I have read a couple of articles about ad blockers from pcmag, tomsguide, and nytimes with the goal of finding a non-scammy ad blocker. However, I am wary of paid endorsements and hesitant to download anything that will have any semblance of control over my browser. I trust reddit more than media conglomerates to give me the truth.

I don't really care about cookies. Companies can track me if they like. As long as I don't see the ads they try to force on me as a result, I don't care.

So, what ad blocker do you use? How has your experience been? Are there issues you didn't expect?

Thanks in advance, hopefully this can help somebody else too

Some people have concerns about using Pie because of it is related to one of the co-founders of Honey, but I assure you that this adblock is great. And a neat little feature is that they actually reward you for seeing their selected ads by paying you. Highly recommended.

Control D - big scam - stay far away

I got to say, this has been the worse service I have received.

Signed up for a trial account but got charged to my credit card anyways. I contacted support within 5 hours of having created the account requesting a refund.

Receiving all sort of excuses, first they mentioned that there are no refunds for renewals and I had to correct them that it was not a renewal. Next they indicate that I should have not been charged to which I replied, ok, then refund.

Next I receive a message indicating how obvious it is to setup the trial and how It is impossible to miss as I have to enter credit card details (yep entering credit card details is common for many trials), to which I replied that yes, this is why I am surprised I was charged.

Their final response was that they will not proceed with further conversations and I am free to proceed with a chargeback. Please stay far away from this company, this is a bad sign.

Looking for a good ad blocker for Chrome

Hi.

Since I don't want to get into the world of VPNs and I don't trust them too much, I'm looking for an ad blocker for Chrome on MacOS (even if it's paid), but that blocks ads on websites, popups, annoying videos that appear in the middle of the web, and even removes pages with trackers and malware.

Is there any ad blocker that does all this correctly and isn't a scam (like Total Adblock, for example)?

Thank you very much.

Adblocking on iOS in 2025

Hello!

I've been trying for days to safely browse the web on Safari BUT there is NO way to get rid of overlays.

Those annoying overlays that flood you with popups whenever you just tap randomly on a web page. Did I already say overlays? Not regular ads....

uBlock on Android still makes wonders. On iOS Orion browser is okay-is.

But on Safari? Wipr, Wipr 2, baking soda, hush, and others that I've tried are simply NOT enough. And for a paid app this is not acceptable.

Any other trick up your sleeve?

You're kind of little demanding, Pie.

Recently, I have seen hundreds of advertisements for Pie. Personally, I use adblockers because I don't like that Youtube is shoving ads in my face to earn money without my consent, so I don't feel bad about blocking ads. At first, I saw an ad for Pie and heard that you earn money when watching ads, and I felt like it was too good to be true, so I ignored it. But now, I haven't seen an ad that ISN'T Pie nowadays, and they all are very demanding that you get this adblocker. The newer ones make you feel that someone could die if you don't install it, or how your life will change forever, which are good persuasion methods for adblockers, but it is taken to the extreme. The fact that Pie is also made by the same people that created Honey is a little sketchy as well. I personally am not going to install Pie because I haven't seen a non-sponsored person that confirms Pie is not a scam.

Also, why should I get an adblocker to block the ads made by the same adblocker? Kind of ironic, is it not?

Looking for an Android-Wide Adblocker to Block In-App Advertisements

It seems to work fine to just press the OK button and reload the site without turning off the adblocker, but it is getting annoying having to reload the site every time I want to watch a video. Is there anything I can do?

Pie Adblocker won't block its own ads.

Hey all,

So, I'm using Opera GX and uBlock Origin on YouTube and I've been noticing these ads for Pie. Tried a bunch of different ways to block the ads, but no avail. Bit the bullet, downloaded Pie, and set its site permissions to only change data on http://www.youtube.com. Lo and behold, I am still getting Pie ads. And they're no longer the fake loading to a black screen but instead a video ad for the adblocker I just installed to block that specific ad.

Help, please.

Edit: So it turns out that I might just have had to allow it to change data on youtube.com/watch. I'll keep this post updated if it still works.

Anyway to block ads ios from streaming sites?

I currently don’t have a pc setup in my room to easily stream stuff with ease so I have to airplay from an old phone to my tv. The sites I use have a redirect to another tab every other click and it’s driving me insane.

Click play, redirect, click search, redirect, full screen, redirect, pause, redirect, etc

Why pie ad block is good.

I’ve been using Pie Adblock for the past couple of weeks, and honestly, it works well as an ad blocker. On top of that, it gives me money every now and then.

Some people criticize it, saying it steals commissions from creators, but frankly, I don’t care. I don’t care if it’s stealing my information either. It’s giving me free money, which we all know is useful.

If I could get paid to watch ads, I 100% would. If I could sell my information, I 100% would.

And honestly, what’s the issue with targeted advertisements? I see ads for things I actually need, and companies don’t have to spend as much on advertising. This means the profit margins on the items don’t need to be as high.

Malewarebytes Causing Ad block Problems

I’ve noticed that several websites, including Pinterest and YouTube, are detecting an ad blocker and preventing me from accessing their content. After troubleshooting, I discovered that this issue disappears when I disable Malwarebytes.

This has become a significant problem, as it interferes with my daily work. If there’s a way to resolve this I would greatly appreciate any guidance. However, if no solution is available, I would love to learn about alternative options. I have a MAC OS.

Pie Adblock and Honey Scam

So is Pie Adblock a scam? It's one of those things that seems too good to be true. If it was just another adblocker then sure, whatever, but apparently it pays you to see ads. But where does this money come from? Obviously, it couldn't be like Honey where it's partnering with stores to hide the best coupon codes from you, which makes it even both less and more suspicious as to where the money is coming from.

It's even more suspicious because it was made by the same people who made the scam that is Honey. Is this like Honey where it somehow steals ad revenue from creators? What could possibly be going on here, and could I just be overreacting and something like this isn't a scam? You guys are the experts.
