Update on my whole Youtube situation.

Hello, so I made a post a few days ago here asking for help with youtube detecting adblockers, and while it seemed to work initially, something seems bugged now. Every video I watch crashes about 20 seconds in, give or take. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

Hey! Try blocking ads in Safari with AdBlock Pro for iOS!
If you download it and use my code BBDE42A6, you can unlock an extra feature (like blocking of video ads, tracking or cookie prompts).

What's the best Adblocker after last Chrome update?
After last Chrome update, UBlock Origin doesn't work anymore. It was the only extensione that was blocking also that damn popups on the streaming websites.
Every extension I've tried so far blocks everything but those crazy continuous popups. Can you suggest a solution?
EDIT >> I need to keep using CHROME for some specific work needs.

Mobile IOS adblockers are not working? Any recommendations?
I’ve so far tried Opera and Brave and neither work at all. Pop-ups and ads are as bad as usual and I haven’t found a viable alternative for IOS mobile yet.
Any suggestions as to which app would actually work for once?

Blocking Twitch ads in Chrome (100% tested and working, until June)
Since Chromium users are screwed in June this year anyway, I figured I might as well just spill the beans. My hatred for intrusive 5 minute long ads on Twitch specifically is unmatched but alas, mv3 is here to stay and other browsers will probably feel forced to adapt because why would advertisers want to serve ads to users who use a browser that (openly) supports adblocking? I wouldnt.
The first part is easy -- sideload ublock origin (not lite) through dev mode in Chrome. Get this by googling "ublock origin github", its most likely also your first result. This way you can install the extracted extension easily. Ignore the warnings, they are cosmetic.
The second part is also easy, if you can read and follow simple instructions:
- in ublock settings, enable "im an advanced user"
- click the cogwheel to the right side of it
- now paste this at the bottom:
- userResourcesLocation https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pixeltris/TwitchAdSolutions/master/video-swap-new/video-swap-new-ublock-origin.js
- now go to the My Filters tab
- add this line:
- twitch.tv##+js(twitch-videoad))
- apply changes
- ????
- (no) profit (for the advertisers)
The .js is updated when needed. The way it works is rather simple and genius, it overlays the ad on stream with the 360p preview that normally appears in the top right corner, forces unmute, and once the ads are done playing it seamlessly reinstates the regular 1080p frame. With seamlessly I do mean as seamless as is humanly possible.
Since this workaround relies on the mv2 ublock exploit, it will stop working in June. Enterprise users who set the ExtensionManifestV2Availability
policy to permit MV2 extensions will retain functionality until this date. After June 2025, even enterprise policies will no longer support MV2 extensions. So, enjoy it while it lasts. Amazon has had a hard time combating this particular workaround, but as I said, the .js is updated when needed.
Enjoy!

Looking for a adblocker that an stop pop ups and redirects in Chrome
I did a fresh install of Windows 11 2 days ago and have found I am unable to install uBlock Origin.
I tried some other blocking programs like popupblocker and ublock lite but they miss the important feature where you could manually click that icon to block pop ups and redirects on a certain page.
I had my Chrome browser set up to browse pages that notoriously had pop ups and redirectors but uBlock origin took care of this. I don't care about the ads so much it was the pop up and redirect blocking.
I have not come across one adblocker that can do this. Any tips or Suggestions? (i know you can manually install ublock origin via github but I am a little skeptical about doing that)
Thanks in Advance.

How to get absolutely everything to work in Chrome (including company devices with strict security)
hello fellow netizens.
ive found a way to get ALL M2 extensions to work on M3, including all adblockers and deprecated handy tools (imagus and bypass paywalls being one of them).
and yes, it even works on youtube and twitch *gasp*! 100% tested as of today.
and yes, im aware im verbose and i could have let GPT tighten this wall of text, but please bare with me.
now for the workaround to get things downloaded on company or admin controlled devices:
- for those who are stuck at work with tightened security, as long as you have access to developer mode in Chrome, youre good. chrome and most company rules dont allow downloading files that pertain to M2 based extensions or anything that they deem sus. chrome proactively scans these files, compressed or not, and intercepts them if your company set it up this way.
- heres the trick: download the .crx or complete extension via github (softonic is good, majorgeeks just redirects to the store, here is an example for ublock origin: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock) on a private desktop device. now, ZIP the files (for maximum compatibility, as you wont have access to install even portable versions of Winrar etc. on most company desktops),
- then rename the file to xyz.gif. then, compress the file again, preferably 7z (this is also compatible with windows) and change the extension again to whatever you like but images work best somehow. repeat this process a couple of times, and keep changing the extension. then upload it to the cloud and download it on your company device. this should work, and you can unpack and sideload the whole thing into Chrome through the dev mode install package option.
- the alternative is just put it on a USB device and copy/paste it to a local drive like c: if possible
- if this fails somehow, you could try to put a password protection when compressing, this makes scanning the files impossible but executables are intercepted either way so make sure you .gif or .jpg that sucker.
google is obviously aware of this workaround but knowing google, as long as its a huge pain in the ass for normies aka the workaround is obfuscated enough, they will not prioritize hotfixing this. please for the love of all things holy and unholy alike -- dont share the detailed info from my DMs publicly.
for obvious reasons im not going to post the full thing here nor anywhere else so DM me if youre curious.

FAB - picture-in-picture stopped working

Please help! I use Free AD-blocker Browser (FAB) on my Samsung phone. I've used it without issue for over 2 years. Today, all of a sudden picture-in-picture has stopped working. I've restarted my phone several times, uninstalled the app, checked my settings over and over. Picture-in-picture is allowed in my settings and I've toggled it on and off to no avail. Can anybody suggest a way to fix this? [link] [comments] |

Youtube black screen with spinner couple of seconds at beginning before playing the video
I have this with both uBlock Origin and Adguard extension, and when clicking a youtube thumbnail to play a video, alot of times it will first show a black screen with spinning wheel for a couple of seconds before playing the actual video. Kinda like it's buffering. It seems youtube is targetting specific youtube accounts with this as when i log out i don't have that problem at all. Anybody knows a solution for this? Thanks.

I've got a solution for the Youtube thing
Hey guys,
As you know Youtube decided to crack down on Adblockers. However I found this one which is open source and still works perfectly fine:
https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing?tab=readme-ov-file
It's based on Tampermonkey. My best guess is that Youtube's just blacklisting extensions now.

Is there any adblocker better than Brave?
Like the title says. For context, I primarily use Google Chrome with AdBlock and AdGuard extensions, but I'm looking for a software that can reliably block ads on sites like YouTube and "subscription" pop-ups in general, and I can't seem to find anything that works better than the built-in adblocker that comes free with the Brave browser. I've seen others suggest using FireFox with the uBlock Origin extension, and I've even seen some suggest using Opera GX, but I'm not eager to learn to navigate a whole new browser, so my question stands: Can any combination of browser and extensions beat the Brave browser's built-in software for blocking ads and trackers?

Skip Ads & Control Your PC from Your Phone
Hey everyone!
I made an app called Any Command that lets you control your Windows PC using your phone—works as a touchpad, keyboard, and customizable shortcut hub. One of the features? A built-in shortcut to skip YouTube ads (via a Chrome extension), so you don’t have to get up just to click "Skip Ad"! 😆
Might be useful if you like hands-free control while watching content or working. Let me know what you think!

"Watch with Adblock" on YouTube
Trying to figure out if this is Adblock Plus' doing or Youtube's, but I had a button on videos with "Watch with Adblock" on it. Nearly every other setting option was gone, and the videos were stuck on autoplay, the volume was always reset to max as well. It wasn't until I clicked that button and made it turn off Adblock Plus where it went back to normal. The thing is that my Adblock Plus is always automatically off for YouTube. I recently had an issue with the adblock actually reactivating itself and refusing to deactivate for YouTube only. I use Ublock Origin still, so I couldn't care less about ABP (I only have ABP to trick sites into thinking my adblock is deactivated), but I can't find anything else about ABP affecting YouTube in this sort of way.
Also this JUST happened for me. The previous videos I had watched were perfectly fine until I clicked on a new vid, where it suddenly struggled to load in and then did all of that.

I Used Adblock On YouTube And Still Plays The Video But This Happened?
So I have been hearing all these reports that in 2025 if you use an adblock on YouTube it will stop you from watching the videos altogether. I curiously downloaded an adblock yesterday to find if this really is true and this happened. It made me watch a minute long ad with no skip on like they normally would have before playing the full video without anymore ads. I'm wondering if they have a different rule on ads in the UK to USA as all the reports on not been able to watch the video at all and getting a message to disable adblock seem to be in America. Inside here in the UK instead I have to watch a long ad that I can't skip before I'm able to watch the video.

Eliminate Annoying YouTube Ads: Try the YouTube Ad Muter & Skip Extension Now!
Hey everyone,
I’m excited to introduce the YouTube Ad Muter & Skip extension – a must-have tool for anyone tired of those long, intrusive ads on YouTube.
What It Does:
- Automatic Ad Muting: As soon as an ad starts playing, the extension mutes your video so you don’t have to suffer through loud commercials.
- Background Audio: Instead of a jarring silence, it plays a soothing background track to keep your viewing experience pleasant.
- Smart Ad Skipping: After a short delay, the extension attempts to click the “Skip Ad” button – and even tries a second time if needed – so you can get back to your content quicker.
- Customizable: Choose from a selection of background sounds to suit your mood via the options page.
Why You’ll Love It:
- Uninterrupted Viewing: No more forced ad breaks interrupting your binge-watching or research sessions.
- Efficiency: Save time and maintain your focus without the constant interruption of ads.
- Simplicity: It works quietly in the background, integrating seamlessly with YouTube’s interface without any hassle.
- Lightweight & Privacy-Focused: The extension is designed to be fast and secure – it only operates on your YouTube pages and doesn’t collect any personal data.
If you’re looking to reclaim your YouTube experience and want a smoother, more enjoyable way to watch your favorite videos, give YouTube Ad Muter & Skip a try. I’d love to hear your feedback and any ideas for further improvements.
Thanks for reading, and happy viewing!
P.S. Here's the link if you're interested:

Anyone else have constant buffering as a result of using ad block on twitch??? What do I do?
U block works great everywhere but twitch. It’ll block ads and drop in quality which I’m fine with but then it’ll buffer for like 10 seconds then play. It’ll do this about 3-4 times before I get an error code 3000.
On chrome btw

accidentally used a browser where I don't have a block installed
Holy shit, how does the majority of the population tolerate the user experience on YouTube or any other site without ublock or sponsor skip? I accidentally use the browser where I don't have any of that installed, and the Internet is pretty much unuseable as far as I'm concerned. And just the other day I tried installing ad blockers on my eight-year-old nephews iPad, and he didn't want it. He didn't like that the video took almost a second longer to load, and would rather sit through minutes of ads instead. so now you have this generation growing up where being exposed to ads is the norm. I resented watching commercials back in the days a rabbit ear television, so my tolerance is low. but still, what a hellscape.

adblocker + wierd website in allowed
adblocker + is already horrible, i know this, but they also have some ripoff of spotify in their whitelist:
sspotsify.com
from the whitelist, when searching this up it gives an error, and it also doesn't look like a safe website even when it was up
(from this website given by them: https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/exceptionrules.txt) in their thing about "good ads". Does anyone know if this even existed (also don't use this thing)

Adblock Pro getting disabled since iOS update 18.3.1
Since I updated, every time I change websites, it gets disabled. At first I thought it might be YouTube doing it, since I read here that it had been an issue for a while. But it's still happening each time I go to a new webpage.
Is this an issue with the iOS update? Adblock Pro has been loyal to me for years with no issues 😢

So whats the scam with Pie?
How are they making money? Literally every ad I'm getting on youtube is them. Are they stealing money from affiliate codes like its sister Honey was? Is it selling people's information? How are they affording all these ads and is there actually a payout system or did they find a way to scam people out of it?

Ublock Origin Alternative - why use an ad blocker when you can set your VPN to Albania?
![]() |
I discovered that YouTube doesn’t seem to have an English ad inventory in Albania, meaning no targeted ads for English speakers - commercials don’t play because they don’t exist. I’ve been watching hours of ad-free YouTube in the UK on my phone and Apple TV by setting my VPN to an Albanian IP address. No ad blocker needed - it just works. I first noticed this while traveling in a non-English speaking country, when YouTube ads suddenly vanished on my phone. Which is when it hit me… I wasn’t a valuable target for advertisers in that region. Since I’m not using an ad blocker I don’t think I’m breaking any rules… unless Albanians are against YouTube’s terms of service? Has anyone else tried this with other countries? [link] [comments] |
Ublock Origin Origin Lite still opens links when clicking on play buttons, etc... is there a better alternative for Chrome?
Just curious. The links are ultimately blocked by Ublock Origin Lite so I guess for now it's working... but are there better alternatives to the Chrome addon? I do use Firefox which is more ad-block friendly, but Chrome's history is useful to me and Firefox's history recording features are complete garbage.
Has anyone found better alternatives to Ublock Origin Lite? Or maybe a better browser that has history recording features similar to Chrome?

Re: Total Adblock
The getting a subscription was on of my biggest digital mistakes. There is no way to get rid of the pop-ups that are sent if you don't renew. Even its name is a scam. There is nothing about it that blocks ad. Save your money. Check listing for best virus protection and avoid Total Adblock at all costs.

Adblock360 what is it?
So i redwonloaded chrome and when i turned on sync the extensions came on , one of which was adblock. it opened a page to download adblock360 and i downloaded it. Mid installation i noticed it was asking for a lot of permissions so i googled adblock360 and the following is what came up :-
What is AdBlock 360? AdBlock 360 is a fake ad blocker extension that can install malware on your computer. It's available for download in the Chrome Web Store and even has an official-looking website.5 Jan 2025.
all the search results are similar to the one above.
i cancelled the installtion and now i'm wondering if i downloaded a software i shouldn't have. since the software belongs to adblock which i've used and trusted for years, i had to make a post looking for answers here. Thoughts?
