I am someone who uses the pretty basic ad-blocking ublock origin as my primary (librewolf) and Brave as my secondary. I want to see both of these flourish as much as possible. Pie Ad blocker
I've been using Pie for almost 6 months and it has done miracles (I mainly use it for Youtube). It all the sudden stopped working on Youtube and if I try to watch a video with it turned on it says an "error occurred". Can anyone tell me if this happens for you as well? block youtube auto advance, 2025 edition
Setup : desktop, linux, firefox, ublock origin, unhook (youtube element hider).
I don't see ads, but at the end of a video, youtube automatically loads another one and starts playing it. That's what I want to block.
This is not in a playlist, just a single video.
Firefox' "block autoplay" doesn't stop it. Nor does unhook.
There is supposedly a button to turn off auto advance, but it doesn't appear for me on desktop. I get it on android, but not on desktop.
I tried the recommended
/annotations_module.js$script,important,domain=youtube.com
/endscreen.js$script,important,domain=youtube.com
but that doesn't do it anymore either.
Any ideas?

I'm using Firefox, I have many adblock extensions but adblock Ultimate is the one i prefer because it kills every unwanted thing

Would you whitelist a site that had ads which didn't animate or scroll?
I have an idea for a website/app that I'm gonna develop soon and I'm wondering how you guys feel about ads that don't animate or scroll while you scroll. The site will be cooking themed and all ads will be food, cooking, and kitchen related aka relevant ads, they will also be static images which do not scroll along while you scroll or be placed in annoying spots. I myself hate ads too especially if they are animated because they're distracting, curious how you guys feel about this and if it's a site you'd be willing to whitelist. If not, what can you recommend for monetization that doesn't involve subscriptions and other cancerous stuff like that?

Solution for bypassing YouTube ad blocker detection

It allows you to install user scripts. And you can use them to bypass YT ad blocker detection and block ads.
This is the place where you can find scripts. Search for "YouTube ad" you will find lots of scripts for bypassing ads.
It's a never ending war between YT, ad blockers/script creators. YT comes up with ways to detect ad blockers, ad blockers/script creators come up with ways to bypass them. Till YT blocks them again. But i found that even if ad blockers stop bypassing, some of these scripts still do their job of bypassing YT.
I have 17 YT bypass scripts installed. Right now only 3 of them work. Doesn't mean others are useless, they are just not updated yet to bybass latest YT detection. Anyway here are the ones that work right now:

By the way don't let Greasy Fork scripts "last updated" times fool you, they are updated frequently. It's just that most of the script creators don't bother to update these pages.
Install Tampermonkey, click install button on user scripts pages, go to Tampermonkey dashboard, you can see installed scripts there. Open YT, and clik on TM extension icon, enable installed script. (only enable one at a time) After enabling a script, reload the currently open YT page. Then the YT will work without ad blocker warning or ads.

uBlock Origin/Adguard no longer blocks ads on YouTube, any solution
I've been using uBlock for a while on Vivaldi and it's worked up until today for YouTube, Adguard extension doesn't block ads for the same. Neither one blocks the video ads for Twitch anymore. If I have to use Firefox, I will, but I'd like to see if there's a solution that works for Vivaldi first.

BlockTube VTuber list.

Any alternatives to 12ft.io? It was technically a paywall bypass but was generally good at scrubbing ads from messy sites.
I used to use uBlock but lost it and honestly I can live with ads except for when a site is really cancerous. In which case I'd use 12ft.io but that's gone now. I saw there was a client side alternative but I'm not really savvy like that and couldn't figure out how to download/install it from GitHub.
So, are there any sites that work like 12ft.io did where you paste a URL and it scrubs the site? The paywall bypass was a nice bonus too but that sorta worked less and less over time. OR anyone want to explain to a dummy how to install/use the GitHub alternative?

I have read many threads here and people hating on Chrome, and I can understand why from your point of view. Google kind of is evil, I am the product, they force me to watch ads yadda yadda
But before you shout out "just switch dude!", here me out.
I have had Google Chrome since it came out.
I have all my passwords saved there, all my bookmarks and the extensions I use are really good. Over all those years I have got used to the UI and I really dig it.
My phone is an android as well, I'm connected through Google in many places and it may sound dumb but I fear the switch and the inconvenience and "stress" getting used to the new things and everything that includes such a switch.
So how was your switch? Where did you go to? Are there any tools/applications that make that switch more comfortable?

As you guys all know, chrome finally did it. Adblockers aren't working on YouTube anymore. After years of loyalty, I made the jump to Firefox; and honestly, it's painless. Bookmarks transfered, browsing feels faster, and most importantly, uBlock origin WORKS.

Here is the best Combination of Adblocks that is the absolute best rn. These are working on other browsers as well.

Is there a way to block ads showing up on Google Play Store?

Anyone else feel like YouTube ads are getting worse?
Lately it feels like I’m spending more time watching ads than the actual video. Even with an ad blocker, some still sneak through or break the player. Has anyone found a solid setup that still works in 2025? Extensions, filters, tips, I'll take anything that helps.

any anti ad blocks for youtube that still works for firefox?
gotten the stupid error 4 message on youtube till i turned off some ad block extensions but i still got one more left that still works so far but fearing that even that will get hit any other extension for firefox i should take a look at?

YouTube is pausing the playback for 4 minutes or more.
I use Chrome. I had uBlock Origin extension loaded before Google blocked it so I can still enable it and use it. I'm not sure if it's region locked but for what it's worth I live in Canada. I have seen the violation pop ups but that hasn't happened for months. I watch a couple of hours a day of yt. What is happening lately is as I watch, the video pauses or freezes. When that happens im like okay, open a tab and cruise reddit for a bit. 4 or 5 minutes later the video starts playing again. None of my other tabs are affected so it aint my computer.

Ublock and Twitch
Hey all, been using Ublock on Firefox for a while now to avoid ads on twitch, but unfortunately it turns the quality really low during the ad. I never really minded, but recently someone told me their Ublock on Firefox doesn't lower the quality. I'm wondering if anyone knows how this person supposedly accomplished this?

Calculating how much time ive saved using a adblocker on youtube
My yt channel was created 2 Aug 2022
I used google takeout to export my watch history and the data says i have watched 608 yt videos in the last 3 years.
Assuming the average yt ad is 30 long and there are 2 ads per video.
Time saved per video = 2 ads × 30 seconds = 60 seconds Total seconds saved = 608 videos × 60 seconds = 36,480 seconds Total minutes saved = 36,480 ÷ 60 = 608 minutes Total hours saved = 608 ÷ 60 ≈ 10.13 hours There fore by using a adblocker for 3yrs i have saved 10.13 hours of my life.

Anyone know of an extention similar to the Brave browser's Block element function for other browser's?
For context I wanna read stuff on the Asura scans site because they're some of the only ones that translate some series at a good quality but they have this annoying pop-up to buy their premium every damn chapter that covers your whole screen and you gotta wait 5 seconds to close, just an overall annoyance, and I've heard people say Brave's block element can circumvent it

I’ve been a loyal Chrome user for years — maybe even decades. But my loyalty has been tested time and time again. After the latest update and the fact that adblockers barely work anywhere anymore, I finally decided to make the switch to Firefox.

A soliton to YouTube war on ad blocker
If like me you are frustrated with YouTube constantly forcing you to disable you AdBlock so you can watch videos I have a potential solution.
obviously besides switch to another network (like Firefox, which I haven’t done due to having Gmail and having a YouTube account tied to that) You can still use adblocker, while YouTube disables it try refresh the video and that might work.
If it doesn’t (which if often donest for me) I recently downloaded a video control speed and use that. For the one that I use I press the x button on my keyboard to advance video by 10 seconds, this allows me to “fast forward” through the adds. (not going to post the link here as I don’t know if that allowed just type video control speed on whatever browser you use)
This steps are easy
1 disable ad blocker (so that you can get past the stupid “no adblocker allow screen)
2 use the video control speed whenever and ad starts to fast forward through the ads. If you get to the end and you see the “skip ad” button just press it and the video should play.
To be honest, It’s a bit if a mixed success as sometimes YouTube says I need to disable ad blocker (which I already did so that I can use the video control speed download that mentioned before)
Also, while I disable or turn off adblocker I DON’T remove it completely as sometimes (usually on Wednesdays for whatever reason) it works as intended and skips the ads for me

I can't believe people are still struggling with finding a good adblocker
There are 2 simple options that have been working reliably for a long long time, in almost all browsers:
- Adguard Browser Extension + Adguard Extra (free, open source, good enough; Adguard Extra is for blocking some special cases like Twitch...)
- Adguard for Windows (not free but a bit better, more powerful)
Make sure to:
- remove all other adblockers, disable the browser's built-in one
- remove any extensions that could modify some pages and trigger adblocker detection
