Any one-time payment alternative to YouTube Premium for Mac and iPhone to block ads?
honestly getting tired of these monthly subscriptions eating away at my budget every month. youtube premium is $14 monthly which doesn't sound like much but over a year that's like $168 just to watch videos without ads and get background playback.
the main thing I need is consistent ad blocking on both my mac and iphone plus background audio since I use youtube for music constantly. tried free adblockers but they're unreliable and don't work properly on iphone. initially i posted in the browsers sub and someone mentioned SwizzTube as a one-time payment alternative to youtube premium for mac and iphone but not sure if it's legit or actually delivers what it promises.

Im so sorry for posting here but I have no other way and this is my final attempt with a hope of some positive response and support for me to back on my track and feed my family.
I have been living in Dubai doing job for past 16 years as credit controller , debt collector and sales executive role and I worked the long 14 years in one company where I have started my career. I forcefully left this job and the reason is company is not approving my request for a long days holidays as i hav required 5 to 6 month for my mother's treatment as she has leg joint bond problem and it is so much painful while walking standing and almost everytime, so I decided to go for some long time better treatment to get rid of the pain.
I did the treatment in my home country for almost 8 to 9 months and she got some releif from the pain and I return again dubai on visit and abale to secure other job in a company in Hmariya Freezone and I worked there one year but again I forced ti quit that job as well for my mother,s other health issue as she has getting stomach pain continously and not going out the pain then I ade some treatment angain came back to dubai on avisit nd able to secure this recent job in dec 2024 ,this is where my problem has started and still suffering by mentally physically and financially and ging in to deep trouble daybbybday.
This recent employer not paying my salary since I joined and I have been forced to open labor case which was not finished yet as the employer was keep on appealing with fraud documents for paid salaries with additional case for claiming extra money from me . Finally all of their appeal was rejectdd and got final judgement in myfavor but not received the amount as they have again requested for monthly installment and I have accepted this one month ago to close this chapter especially to get my visa cancelled for new job oppertunities
Unfortunately I couldnot secure job in my grace period and I am on overstay with fines accumulating day by day. Now I am in a situation that I dont have any amount or savings to pay overstay fines and to book ticket. The other tragedy is my original passport is with a rent car company in Ajman because the recent employer have offered a car but they didnot provide and advised me to take from rent car with this passport security option and they said the rent will paid monthly to you or renta car company ., but they have not apid any rent amount after one month. Now my mother got again the stomach pain and doctor informed her to remove utirus within 2 to 3 months and it is 4 month running , she need my presents for any hospital treatment she do as I am the only son of her and I lost my father in my childhood itself. So I am the only one to feed my family of motherv, wife and my 3 small children ( two childs are in primary class and one is 2years old).
Now tell me guys what should I do now and how I can overcome his situation and back on my tracks. One great human being have helped me to pay my last month room rent when I made a post for laptop sale and he didnot take my laptop and I have to leave the bed space tomorrow as room owner strictly warned me to pay it today night or maximum by tomorrow morning before 10am.
Now tell me guys what should I do in this situation and how can I overcome this to back on my track.
I am hoping and requesting me some support even if it is small by getting from multiple people will help me to overcome this situation and allow me and my family to live.

Youtube black screen loading
Hi there!
Youtube seems to be avoiding UBlock origin by still forcing you to wait before a video loads staring at a black screen, even if there is no ad. I even tried it with Brave, and had the same results.
Has anyone figured out a solution to this?

I'm using the latest Safari with Wipr, I'm finding a lot of websites, especially forums are crashing unless I disable the adblocker. Is this a new anti-adblock tactic or just a bug? What's the general recommendation for the best Safari adblocker?

Spotify not properly blocking Ads anymore with ublock lite? Page breaks when blocking Ads
The only Adblocker i got running is uBlock Lite on Chrome. Since yesterday i noticed that after a few songs on spotify Ads will pop up which will break the whole site. The Ad will not play, but so will nothing else afterwards. It will just show the Ad not playing instead of the last or next Song, i can't use any Controls like Pause, Play or Next Song and i also can't change the song manually. It will just stay like this until i hit F5. And if i hit F5 then the last song is gone and i have to look up what was playing last.
So my guess is its related to uBlock and they somehow try stuff to remove adblocks like google with youtube.
In the past the Ad would also not play but then it would go away and the next song would start.
Someone else with this problem? Been banned from the uBlock sub otherwise i would have asked there

YouTube violating your privacy and detecting an Adblock again?
I'm getting a few reports from users that are signed in on YouTube are getting error messages due to Adblock detection:
"Content is not available, try again later",
"Adblockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service"
and "Experiencing Interruptions? find out why."
First, sign out of your Google/YouTube account, and please stay signed out for at least 24-48 hours, that'll make YouTube take time to:
rotate you out of certain experiments,
drop Anti-adblock test groups,
assign a fresh player configuration,
and clear stuck experiment states.
Then close all YouTube tabs.

Youtube ads have started showing up again? (on the right hand corner)
I've successful configured my adblocking settings to basically never see ads on YT/FB and the Net (except 1 or 2) However, today I'm seeing ads on YT.
It's a 50/50 thing, so I wondering if something changed server side. Is there a new update or another program I can download to stop it?

How to block adds on Google Chrome YouTube?
Hey, since yesterday, uBlock Origin Lite failed to stop anti AdBlock on YouTube. Before each video, it is showing anti AdBlock. Does someone know the way to block ads on YouTube on Google Chrome.
PS: I sometimes use Chromebook, so changing the browser is not the option for me always.

Targeted Ads Are PMO :-/
A colleague and I were looking up products online and thought one of us had gotten confused because hers showed only images of Black people while mine showed only young blonde women. But, nope, it was the same exact listing engineered to what were assumed to be our demographics. We logged out of our accounts to test the theory, and the default image on a product became an older white woman, which made sense for the product but was also more of a fit for her she said because her search was motivated by age not color.
While I get that perhaps people may respond to images they can "identify" with, it's a bit creepy and reductionist to mine data and boil customers' essence down to the most superficial aspects. I personally would much rather an ad with various different models rather than having some company or AI mirror back to me who they think I am and am comfortable seeing. While this may seem innocuous, the echo chamber created by algorithms regurgitating "you" back to yourself is designed to boost numbers, but when that goes beyond sales and engagement to reinforcing limited ideas and perceptions, it also increases the entrenched ignorance from a lack of expanded perspectives.
For example, I clicked on a few femicide IG posts out of curiosity, and now my feed is filled with male-bashing rhetoric that could poisin my mind if I didn't know amazing men IRL to counterbalance social trying to predict and force feed me what it thinks I want more of. I like learning from others who are male, female, young, older, or from different socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds because my world and the broader world they've exposed me to via travel, wisdom, and culture is so much richer for it. Heck, I learned investing from an 80-year-old neighbor who became ne of my closest confidants, definitely not from my blondetourage.
Kinda annoying that they believe everyone can only stomach those who look and think exactly like their socially constructed selves (yes, I know many are close-minded like that). It turned me off from buying anything. All we wanted was some darn face cream, and they had to go and make it weird lol! Vent sesh over.

Deploying ABP without the EasyList default filter
I am pushing out ABP to use on one specific webpage, I have a custom filter list using ##Software-display (this is a specific pop up on a niche software) as a block. I noticed that this did not work and tracked it down to the EasyList that comes preinstalled. When I disable the EasyList my custom filter works, when I enable the EasyList the custom filter does nothing, not sure what they are fighting with.
Is there any way I can push out ABP with custom settings or at least without the EasyList so my custom filter will work? Or at least a way to automatically disable/remove the EasyList after the install?
Was initially using uBlock but a lot of the customers are using Chrome and uBlock Origin does not work with Chrome anymore, and I could not find a way to use custom filter lists to deploy with uBlock Lite.

The title may be self-explanatory, or potentially confusing. Does the rule against using multiple adblockers on the same browser apply only when they are active simultaneously? In my scenario (macOS), I use AdGuard Mini (formerly AdGuard for Safari) for overall ad filtering, and uBlock Origin Lite (extension) exclusively for YouTube ad filtering (mustn't forget to mention SponsorBlock ^_^). Since the two have mutually exclusive website access, can there be any downsides to having both installed? "Pause on this site" EXPIRES after 7 days
This explains why I seem to be needing to pause Adblock on the same sites over and over.
After 7 days of no visit to a site, Pause turns itself off.
Apparently this is a recent change (months?)
I hate it. Can I disable it globally? (apparently I can disable it site by site)

Ad blocker for Chai app
Does anyone has an safe alternative for AdAway for chai? Bcs apparently chai's ads getting thru the AdAway's blocker unlike before when I open it, it automatically makes the app ad free. In AdAway, im trying to block and include some sites to DNS log request and sometimes it wont rlly block it nor accept it if I refereshed the log which is frustrating. So even if its turned on, ads would still pop up. It used to be simple as starting the vpn/app and now it wont wooork. Hulu Commercials
I use Hulu to watch NFL games, it’s essentially the only live TV I ever watch. The commercials are insufferable as I’m sure anyone who watches live tv can attest.

YouTube Isn't Recognizing When my Adblocker is Turned Off
Like many people, I use an Adblocker when going on the internet. However, as many of you have experience, YouTube doesn't like Adblockers and prevents me from watching videos when I have it on and gives me a notification to turn it off. Free adblocker for Mac?
I have a mac laptop and want to download an adblocker. I tried uBlock Origin Lite but it says it requires macOS 13.5 or later, and my laptop says it is on macOS Monterey 12.7.6 and up to date. I am guessing this is because it is an older model and cannot be updated further?

Is there an adblock that does not get detected by YouTube?
I'm using uBlock Origin on Firefox and when I'm on YouTube I experience the following:
- No playback speed control the first time I visit a video. I have to refresh.
- When I hover my mouse over the playback bar I don't get a preview frame of the video at that timestamp.

Android Browser?
I use various sites on Android that have frequent popups and redirects. Such as video streaming sites for ToS reasons. Is there a browser out there that truly blocks these or at least well? I've tried the mobile of opera gx and brave but the redirects and popups still happen.

A Simple Opensource ad blocker/Patcher for Spotify(Flatpak) on Linux

I've been using the official Spotify Flatpak on Linux for a while, but the ads kept getting more annoying. I tried finding an alternative for BlockTheSpot for Linux. but nothing promising came up. I do know that you can just use a spotify web with firefox and ublock origin, but it just wasn't doing it for me., so I built a small patcher that works directly on the Flatpak install instead, with a single command. It modifies the app's bundle to: Skip audio and video ads entirely Remove banner placements Hide the "Explore Premium" button in the top bar Everything is done with string/regex patches on the JS and CSS files inside the xpui.spa archive. It makes a backup first (xpui.spa.bak), so you can always roll back. There's also a dry-run mode to preview changes and a status check to see what's applied. Or run the uninstall script to clean everything up. The patches are based on current Spotify versions, but client updates can break them—when that happens, it's usually just a matter of updating the signatures in the code. Two iPhones, both with Adblock, but one shows ads?
My old iPhone 7 had Safari with Adblock. I never saw static or animated ads on sites like BBC or CBC.
I migrated everything to a "newer" XR, updated iOS and Safari, migrated same Adblock settings, but now every time I want to watch a news clip I get an ad video. Is there some setting I'm overlooking?

Adblock broken overnight?
I can't get anything to run with adblock on since last night. Was working fine, but this morning no websites will work even google search doesn't run correctly. This is on Firefox, was something changed or is it just ATT being hot garbage.

The adds for magma are so annoying and I haven’t found one adblocker that removes them yet.. any suggestions?

Solution for Youtube videos buffering at start (Web)
Have you ever had Youtube videos buffer/pause at the start with a textbox saying "Experiencing Interruptions?"? If you have, I found a possible solution and want to share it in case anyone else got it.
What you have to do is disable your adblocker, then open a video. You should be seeing a 6 second ad that's just the youtube logo. If you proceed to block this ad using the google's ad settings visible on the ad, then you can turn on adblocker and you will no longer experience the buffering.
I'm assuming this is a new way for youtube to try to jab at adblock users, but either way hope this helps someone!

What's the best twitch adblock for android?
I'm on android and i tried twire and while it works for blocking ads i cant chat it just redirects me back to home page. I've tried brave with adblock and it works and i can chat but no points. I tried some other recommended apps like purpletv which don't block ads.

Remove Prime ads without paying for ad free
I signed up for Prime just for one month but I am getting annoyed by the show trailers they keep previewing and you have to wait. Like I already pay so why are they forcing more ads on me?
So I don’t want to pay even more just to remove ads, is there any decent ad blocker that will remove this? I’m looking at uBlock, open adblocker, pi-hole, ghostery but want to know it’ll definitely work before i waste time configuring one. So has anyone managed it?

Website completely blocks its contents with uBlock Lite active. What to do?
Hi,
as some of you might also enjoy, I usually play the dulls every day and beginning today, the Website flagle.io blocked its content off with uBlock Lite enabled.
Anything that can be done there? I actually enjoy that game a lot and it would be a bummer to not play it anymore, but I also just cant the atrocious ads on that website.
Any ideas or hints? Appreciated, thank you.

For context, I have a 18.6.2 IOS and needed to find a Youtube app that has no ads. I ended up finding this strange app by someone (4th picture) that seemed to be suspicious judging by the amount of comments they made. So I ended up trying it out and felt flabbergasted. It does exactly as it told. Yet, I still feel suspicious, so I decided to check more and ended up finding more reasons why I should be more skeptical of this. Not only did I not find any posts regarding about Tube PiP, but this is the same company that owns an allegedy AI-generated gaming app (2nd picture). With that, I cannot trust this app any longer and uninstalled it. Never signed in either, despite what it says (3rd picture). It was too obvious. Now I'm stuck without an efficient and legit way to watch youtube videos ad-free. If someone can provide a way, I'll be happy. [link] [comments] |
