Earlier this week, PFT rolled out a new version of their site. At the same time, I started getting this "Enable Ads" message. I went into the ABP settings and disabled the "block" settings for both the website and the page. However, I still get the "enable ads" pop up every time I try to access the site. The only thing I can do is keep hitting refresh until I get the option to "Continue Without Supporting". Any advice would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Website (Pro Football Talk) Still Displaying "Enable Ads" Message Despite ABP Being Disabled
Dealing with the New YouTube blocking
Presumably its going to be a root ban, as they have access to the extension list itself, what could be done to circumvent that?

Is there some adblock for firefox that has image recognition?
Hello
Recently I've noticed that more sites seem to have some trickery to bypass regular adblockers. But there tends to be tiny pool of what images do appear.
Is there some adblocker (ideally compatible with ublock origin) that can recognize image to be blocked?
Aside of obvious (stubborn ads) it'd also help removing repetitive images, I suppose - such as accelerating reading of stuff online by removing repeating decor. It'd be handy!

Chrome users: easy transition to Brave keep Google's New Tab Page (For when adblockers are removed)
Chrome is set to rollout Manifest v3 sometime "soon" which will limit adblockers. See here: https://reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/11peeuw/
I personally use Firefox as my default browser, but I still recommend Brave to anyone who is used to Chrome but wants to move away. I have a few tips to make the transition easy.
This is NOT for de-Googleing your browser. This will in fact re-Google it to some degree. This is for people who like the Google integration in Chrome and want to keep it as much as possible. I also support de-Googleing, but that is a separate conversation.
All of these changes are found in the settings (3-line menu > Settings, or type chrome://settings/ in the URLbar)
Chrome New Tab Page
Brave's new tab page is very different from Chrome's. If you want to bring Chrome's back, here's what you can do:
Go to Settings > Appearance > Show Home Button, turn it on.
Pick "Enter custom web address" and type: chrome://new-tab-page/
Go to Settings > New Tab Page
New Tab Page shows > select Homepage
You can go back to Appearance and turn off "Show Home Button" if you'd like
If you also login to your Google account, it will be integrated into your New Tab Page, just like Chrome.
Other Appearance Settings
Settings > Appearance
Turn off "Show Brave News button in address bar"
Turn on "Use wide address bar"
Show Sidebar > Never
Turn off "Show VPN button"
Brave Rewards
Settings > Brave Rewards
Turn off both options "Show Brave Rewards icon in address bar" and "Show Tip buttons on sites"
Privacy and Security
Settings > Privacy and Security
You can turn on "Use Google services for push messaging" if you wish. Most people can turn it off and won't miss it.
Turn off the next 3 options, "Allow privacy-preserving product analytics (P3A)" "Automatically send daily usage ping to Brave" and "Automatically send diagnostic reports"
Under "Tor Windows"
Settings > Privacy and Security > Tor windows
You can turn all of these off if you don't use Tor.
If you DO use Tor, I suggest turning on only the top two: "Private window with Tor" and "Automatically redirect .onion sites" but remember that websites can still fingerprint you with info like the size of your browser window, user agent, etc.
Also, if you turn on "Volunteer to help others connect to the Tor network" people can potentially use your internet connection to commit online crimes, which could be traced back to you and not them; I would personally leave that off.
Sync
Settings > Sync
You can use this to sync several Brave browsers. It obviously works differently than Chrome because it's not tied to your Google account.
It is designed to make syncing mobile browsers to desktop browsers easy, by scanning QR codes, but it's possible to sync all types of browsers.
Search Engine
Settings > Search Engine
If you really like searching with Google, you can change your search engine to Google here
Turn off "Web Discovery Project"
Extensions
Settings > Extensions
You can turn on all of these toggles if you'd like: "Allow Google login for extensions" "Hangouts" "Media Router" and "Widevine" but I would not recommend "WebTorrent" though, because it is very buggy.
Web3
Settings > Web3
Turn off "Show Brave Wallet icon on toolbar"
Import Chrome History/Bookmarks
If you didn't import your Chrome profile when you first set up Brave, you can go to Settings > Get Started > Import
And when you're ready to switch, click "Make Default"
There are lots of other settings, but they are not Brave-specific, so just set them up the same way you would setup Chrome

I need some help please.
Ok so for some reason, ads have not been showing up on certain websites, even in Incognito mode. Another issue is that google ads has stopped working all together, meaning they don't show up in search or I can't access the website. I don't know where to look to remove this ad block device which I don't remember downloading. Can someone please help me with this?

I need help
When using Edge, Firefox and Chrome, some sites tell me to disable my adblockers to read their pages, but even after deactivating them, the alert keeps showing and I can't read them. I suspect this may be caused by some configuration the man who built my PC did. How can avoid those messages?

Twitch New Ad Rolls?
I tried to make a discussion about this over r/Twitch but as you can suspect, it was deleted shortly afterwards and nobody seemed to suspect anything.
Before I get to it, I use different filters and adblocks and some plugins to block out most if not all ads on Twitch. However, I noticed a small change recently with the release of FF16. Now, I watch a lot of streams and have been watching for quite a while. I noticed when I watched FF16 streams I got substantially more ads than I used to. People commented that it is up to streamer to manually run ads and such, however, I was even confronted by some streamers as they showed their ad scheduler. They were set as auto and not manual, which means 3 minutes of ads tops each hour.
The issue is I was getting roughly 6-7 minutes of ads almost on every stream that was streaming in FF16 category (almost 2-3 ads each 7-8 minutes). What's more weird was that I got no ads (adblock filters) in any other categories be it Just Chatting or other gaming categories. Perhaps a big coincidence but this phenomenon also started at the exact date of FF16 release.
Due to the filters I am not exactly getting ads but stream distruptions. It shows up as blocked ads followed by stream pause or buffering and sometimes purple screen. However, it only happens in FF16 category streams. I watched over 12 hours of Just Chatting in the past couple days and got 0 ads (due to adblock filters etc.).
Anyone else also experiencing this?

Ad Blocking browser extensions vs NAS Ad blockers.
Hi,
I am very new to having a NAS (Synology 220+) and would like to know if there are any benefits to having ad blocking at the network level via a NAS than the good old-fashioned browser extensions.
I currently have ad-blocking on all my (incl family) devices such as iPhones, Android Phones, Laptops, Desktops, etc. But I was wondering if the network-level ad block would allow them to bypass some anti-ad blockers employed by websites. I believe, even youtube is starting to crack down on these ad blockers now.
And if I do use the NAS for ad blocking, how hard is it to disable the ad blocker for certain websites? Currently, if a site refuses to load with the ad-blocking extension active, I can just disable it and use the website. It probably isn't quite as simple with the NAS version of Ad Blockers.
In short, is there anything to gain from using my NAS for ad blocking? I do not have a TV or any IoT devices in the house that cannot have an ad blocker locally installed.

AdGuard LifeTime Subscription for only $11 - Install on 3 Devices
I'm not trying to sell anything. I checked around for rules on this subreddit but I didn't see anything about sharing a good deal for ad blockers.
But I saw on StackSocial's website they have AdGuard's lifetime subscription for $11. You can install it on 3 devices. They also have lifetime family subscription for $16 (install on 9 devices). I ended up buying it. Got my code pretty much instantly. I followed the directions (don't go on google play store to download the adguard app, you have to download the app directly on adguard's official website) and it's working really nice on Android. All those google news articles that are pushed to Android phones, all those articles have ads blocked in it now. Wonderful!
Let me know if sharing a link is fine or not. You can also go on StackSocial's website and search for it there. StackSocial is legit. I've purchased other software bundles from them from years ago (VPN software).
I was contemplating if I should do it at first since I've always used Ublock origin on my Windows PC. That blocks everything. It's just Android where ads are tougher to block, especially those google news articles. So I figure for $11 I can block the ton of ads fed in those articles forever. Seemed worth it to me.

requesting help with adblock plus and youtube homepage being subsequently wrecked!
YT randomly wiped my watch history and won't "re-learn" what i like and am interested in. this happened overnight, why? this seems to have coincided with ABP having an update on the 20th june.
using firefox, i don't have a yt account and have been watching stuff "logged out" for about 3 years. yt knows (knew) what i like, my feed was always full of asmr, cat vids, kpop, other music i listen to, and so on.
on the morning of the 21st i discovered it was all gone - the homepage showed only the generic clickbait popular crap like mr beast and whatever else is trending. i've spent the last 3 days manually searching content i watch/listen to, to see if yt will pick itself back up, but nada.
is this a known occurence? has there been a recent change which disables logged out watch history on desktop now? my phone (also logged out) hasn't been affected, but since i only watch asmr on there that's all i get recommended.
finding this super weird and if anyone has any answers i'd be v grateful for your input! i'm thinking it has something to do with ABP but i have no idea how i can tweak the settings to get back my videos without compromising the ad blocking part.

AdBlock tab popped up randomly. Is it legit?
![]() |
Today it happened me two times on Chrome (Windows) that, when i opened a new tab, also a second tab popped up. It told me AdBlock has been updated and suggested as always if i wanted to give a donation. It never occurred to me that AdBlock opened tabs. And surely not two times in a short amount of time. (like 10 hours). Is this legit? Or it's some sort of malaware? [link] [comments] |

Is turning off "Luna AdBlocker" from the VPN settings safe?
I've recently switched to iOS and found Luna AdBlocker to be a great solution for apps with persistent ads. I don't need to run it at all times, only when I when using certain apps. I'm also a bit concerned about my device's insecurity when running it.
So I'd like to know if turning it off from the VPN settings is enough to keep it from accessing all of my traffic. Sorry for my bad English and thanks in advance.

BEST ADBLOCK FOR MOBILE
Imma make a video later but install Blokada go to advanced then blocklists and enable all of them. Took me a hour to figure out what to do since a lot of ad blockers aren't working. Also make sure to go to apps in blokada advanced section and bypass all the ones you don't want adblocker to work in. I just let twitch be the only one using blokada. Another alternative is Purple tv but I stopped using it because it's sort of unstable. Lastly which ill get later once I make it out the mud, Twitch turbo.

Block browser based ads in Android Apps solution
So I know there are a bunch of settings in browsers to help with the browser based ads, but annoyingly they just don't work with some apps. One example would be an anime app that's named after a green haired guy with a cut on his left eye and sometimes seen with a sword in his mouth (Won't name it here for reasons). Well this app has these annoying ads that open your default browser (placing unwanted cookies everywhere) and its just a pain.
Well there is a solution. You see, some samsung phones, A or S series, has a feature called "Samsung Kids" mode, allowing kids to use apps separately from accessing your actual phone apps. I use this for my kid and I have seen promising results on ads that open via your default browser. It blocks it, showing a notification "Can't open this in samsung kids". It doesn't completely block other types of ads, only prevents them from opening the redirect.
TLDR: Use Samsung Kids to block ads from apps that use your default browser when tapped

Instagram ads not blocked
Adblock Plus has stopped blocking Instagram Ads more than a month ago. It keeps showing me ads in the stories and in the feed and I can't take it anymore.
I have everything updated: filters, extension, browser. I have even tried different adblockers and browsers. None of them block the ads anymore.
Does anyone know a solution? I'm desperate. Thanks!
Update: I've just tried AdGuard and it's the only adblocker that works for now. Adblock Plus and uBlock just doesn't work on Chrome, sadly.

Total Adblock????? People’s experiences/opinions
Hi just under a month ago I had a pop for Total Adblock saying “get Total Adblock $2.99 one off” (or something along those lines) which I stupidly took as once off payment for lifetime (in hindsight it was for the price for the first month) anyway I’d forgotten I had it and found it today looking through it had renewal due 16th June and at $9.99 a month which I didn’t want. So this brings me to where I became incredibly suspect of this company NO where on there app could I cancel my sub there were links to cancel it but when you clicked on them they asked you a reason and gave you 3 boxes to choose from 2 of which just said click on the link below which only took you back to previous screen doing absolutely nothing the 3rd was technical support which after a bunch more hoops you finally talk to someone telling them I want to cancel my sub there response I’ll just transfer you to someone which on both attempts this next person does everything except cancel your subscription. They try tell you what you’ll be missing out on and that you’ll be at risk of viruses etc constantly just telling them to CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION then they try offer you a much much cheaper deal on your sub (the 1st attempt dropped out at this point and had to go back through entire process) eventually after typing CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION over and over and over again he tells me an email with a link has been sent and could take an hour. Why do I need to click a link when I’m asking you to cancel it??? Anyway I received the email and it has a special offer of 💯 off for a year subscription yes that’s right 💯 off if I stay. Cancelling Netflix or foxtel Spotify etc is a process of clicking on 1 link and then sometimes a are you sure confirmation I’ve never had such a hard time of cancelling something. I decided to Google this company but there either is glowing reviews (which I’m suspicious are probably made by them) or no real information. So I was wondering what other people’s experiences or opinions were and does having a full subscription with McAfee and YouTube premium cover things? As I don’t have a clue what people are talking about when they talk about malware etc
Thanks and sorry for such a long post
not to good with technology these days so I hope this is the right place to post this

adblock that hides ads from me but still loads them?
hi, I'm a firefox user (windows and android) and have always used ublock origin which works well in general. however my understanding is that sites like youtube can tell I'm using it, so the video maker doesn't get any ad revenue when I watch. for this reason I still use the youtube app a lot because I watch a bunch of small/medium creators and want them to get money.
are there any adblocking techniques that still load the ad as far as the website can tell, but doesn't show the ad to me?

Any way to make uBlock's element zapper permanently block selected elements?
I recently switched over from AdBlock Plus to uBlock because ABP wasn't working on certain YouTube ads anymore, but one thing I miss that ABP had was when I would use the block element feature, ABP would remember that element and block it all future times it attempted to load. But uBlock doesn't seem to do this. Is there a way to make uBlock do this?
