How do I stop ads while watching videos on the Facebook website in 2023 even though Adblock Plus is installed.?

I have the Adblock Plus Chrome extension installed on my system. I have disabled the "Show acceptable ads" checkbox. However, I am still seeing ads while watching Facebook videos on website.

What can I do to block these annoying ads that appear while I'm watching Facebook videos in my web browser?

AdBlocker detected before YouTube does everywhere

AdBlocker detected before YouTube does everywhere

This is a reference to a website called dailymotion.com which shows the result as in the following screenshot. I'm using Vivaldi Browser and turned on it's native ad-blocker. There has been rumors that YouTube is going to bring the same strategy in the coming time and many people are used to Ad-blockers coz they want to see silly ads.

How silly the moves by such websites as they are literally forcing us to either turn off Ad-blockers or pay for their premium packages (which are ad free). The days of ad-driven are running out and it's better if these websites realize it better. Many websites or apps don't even force users to disable adblockers and users get rid of ads after paying for premium subscriptions, and these sites or apps are working perfectly fine.

Help with a custom rule?

I often go through a very annoying website that's just a transition page between a download page and the actual zip file URL.

I'd like to block every element at level website.dom###, but this syntax is incorrect. I also tried website.dom###* and other combinations with *, but nope. Does anyone know if there's any correct way to do it? Thanks

Trying to block an element with Adblock Plus that has a randomized ID

When I browse fandom.com sites, sometimes a survey pop-up appears in the bottom-left corner. Every time I block it, it reappears again. I looked at it, and it turns out it has a randomized ID.

For example, it could look something like "XXX.fandom.com##.sc-YYYYY.ZZZZZZ", where XXX is whichever site I'm on, YYYYY and ZZZZZZ are the randomized parts, which are always letters (both uppercase and lowercase), which can each be made of 5 or 6 letters.

How can I block these?

AdBlocks that work with Youtube.

I kind of had a problem with some of the adblocks not "working" on Youtube and what I mean by that is that Youtube would recommend me the same videos over and over again, it did hide ads etc but yeah. One of these adblocks that was not "working" for me was uBlock Origin. The one that I am using right now and works is AdBlock - best ad blocker. The point is I wanted y'all to comment which adblock y'all are using and if they "work" with Youtube. I want to test them (as I am hella bored lol).

Spotify Adblocker BurntSushi PSA workaround

For those that are using the Spotify adblocker BurntSushi by OpenByteDev ( won't link as unsure of sub rules re linking) the most recent update after the 28th of June has broken it. The most recent Spotify version is blocking BurntSushi, if you hover over the icon in the tray it will disappear. You have to downgrade to any version before the 28th June and it will work as normal. You can get the older version at Uptodown ( again not linking unsure to sub rules re site links). Just thought I would give out a PSA in case anybody uses it on here.

Crossposted from /r/piracy, thought I should also post here.

twitch must be stopped

They are fucking shoving ads down your throat. Worse than growing up with cable TV. Brand new channel i've never been to and don't know if I like. Ad. Refresh stream because quality is stuttering. Ad. Ad has 3 seconds left but you click someone else's channel. New full ad. I swear I have this theory when you type a question in a chat you immediately get an ad so you can't hear the streamers reaction. Twitch fucking blows and I hope to god I can block their ads as long as I live. I give enough money to Amazon through prime, wholefoods, ring, and whatever other shit they own. Get fucked twitch

all blockers are visual blockers online. they dont block things from being downloaded

I noticed this with adp, with adguard and even ubo. when there are things ive blocked on a page, the regular site loads, then theres a split second flickr and then its all gone.

so they are only visual blockers, not true blockers.

they dont stop the items from being downloaded to your computer. they simply hide them after the fact.

How do I find out if I have "too many" blocklists?

How do I find out if I have "too many" blocklists?

Evening! As per the title, I would like to know if there is such thing as "too many" blocklists. I have just set up Adguard on a raspberry Pi for the first time ever and I am unfamiliar with the hyper-specifics of blocklists and how well they perform compared to each other, other than looking it up and seeing public opinion. I'm also uncertain if having too many blocklists will do what having too many browser extensions will do: Slow the network down. To my understanding, it doesn't work that way, but I'd be very interested in hearing public opinion on the matter and whether or not this is "too many" and why that is the case/the bad affects of having "too many".

Thanks!

Youtube with Adblock: Experiencing Significant Delays?

Hello, everyone!

As mentioned earlier, I'm encountering an issue while watching YouTube videos. The problem lies not in Adblock failing to fulfill its purpose, but rather in a delay that occurs during the video loading process (specifically when removing the ad). Essentially, if the ad lasts for 5 or 15 seconds, I end up spending more time staring at a blank screen than watching the ad and skipping it.

Does anyone know why this delay happens and how to resolve it? I'm currently using Firefox.

Twitch streams just endlessly not loading while using TTV LOL

Recently when using TTV LOL to block ads I've noticed the stream doesn't even load now, it just endlessly spins over and over. I know it has to do with TTV LOL because when I disable it, the ad running instantly comes on. But even if an ad isn't running the stream doesn't load at all as long as I'm using the plug in. I've tried updating to newest version, same thing. Anyone else experiencing this?

Rumors of Youtube scanning users web browsers for extensions are adblock developers prepared?

https://www.tomsguide.com/news/youtube-is-going-to-stop-you-using-ad-blockers-heres-how

There's news going around that Youtube might start persecuting users for their web browsers and configurations of choice, whatever that entails in this case ad-blockers. I use Firefox on Linux with extensions like AdBlock Plus for 15 years, will never change that to appease yet more crazed tyrants that want to control even what's on my machine and how I browse the web.

I wanted to know if steps are being taken by ABP and others to avoid this, in case Youtube someday decides to go through with it. I don't know how and why an external website like Youtube is allowed to detect what's in my web browser, if this happens by default I'd rather disable websites knowing what extensions I have entirely if that's possible. For now is the issue known to adblock developers and are they prepared to ensure users are safe from Youtube's threats and intrusions?

why do elements that were blocked keep coming back?

I use adguard abp and ubo. they all need to be on, cause each one has weaknesses and strengths and I have seen things that one of the other 2 cant block something and the 3rd did it. not 1 is a do it all.

but there are elements that keep coming back, no matter which is used. how is this possible? and these are simple things like a button.

Future of adblocking on youtube?

Hi guys. I've just heard the news that YouTube is testing blocking adblockers, which is terrible news and has me quite worried.

I know other people have asked the question, but what is the future of adblocking going to look like for youtube? Will there be a so-called "adblocker-blocker-blocker"?

I'm also curious as to whether other options exist for limiting ad exposure on youtube that are not widely discussed, or that at least I haven't heard of. I'll probably be willing to try almost anything.
