Confused about Youtube

I thought my AdBlock wasn't working but then I read the stickied post in this sub and now I'm really confused. Does AdBlock work for Youtube or not?

My second question, is if it does indeed work, does anyone have the same problems I'm having? I can only play/pause and go full screen mode when my browser is in full screen mode. If I have a window of any size, I can't click on any controls whatsoever. Once my browser is full screen and YouTube is full screen, then I can use all the controls as normal.

I imagine this is Adblock but it could be anything. No idea how to fix it.

Twitch adblock 2024

I've been using uBlock on Firefox (had to do some tweaking to get it to work) and it was working like a charm. Recently I've found it now just makes streams load infinitely. Has there been a fix for this/anyone know what I can do?

What are the equivalents of uBlock Origin for phone numbers, email, phone, and other sensitive personal info?

I love uBlock Origin for my browser. I was wondering if there were other apps/extensions that are so revolutionary (at least it is for me) like uBlock but for all of my other sensitive things like phone numbers (receiving tons of spam calls everyday), for gmail, for personal information and basically other sensitive personal things on the internet that hackers can steal your info, or companies can get your contact and sell it to shady companies, etc.

What is the best Dns-Level AdBlocker on Android?

Hi, i was looking for an Android Ad Blocker that is Free and Open Source and i found these ones:

  • DuckDuckGo
  • Rethink
  • DNS66
  • AdGuard

I tried all of them and i do think that the best is Rethink in "DNS (Battery Saver)" mode.

Do you have any other suggestion?

Adblocker mallware android

Adblocker mallware android

Hello! So one day I accidentally clicked a link in an convincing email which I thought was from the chamber of commerce and now I have these little icons tip right of my addblocker browser screen on my android. Sometimes it's a spinning prize wheel, other times a treasure chest or sometimes an innocent "you got mail" type of icon.

I tried removing and reinstalling app bit did not work...I tried removing app and running mallware scan but no dice....

Help! I love the add blocker app but now I'm afraid to log into anything, fearing they will steal my data...

Thanks in advance!

Hisense TV: Youtube videos unwatchable with all the ads. Anything I can do?

I love my Hisense TV, but when I put on Youtube, I have to suffer through incessant ads in the middle of what I want to watch. I know that a PiHole won't block ads since they come from the same domain. But is there a plugin or something I can install that will kill these darn ads?

Help needed

Here's the deal.
I've been using adaway free (unrooted) the last week, it's not been blocking ads on ANYTHING.

I have used blockada 5. It was great until 6 came out and it went to junk.

Adguard free Is currently running. Don't know much about it. A friend suggested it.
Here's what I'm attempting to do. When I browse. I don't want a single ad or pop up.

When I go to sites to download files. I don't want another site to pop up or stupid ads. I want to find what I'm looking for and go.

I have youtube premium. So ads aren't a problem there .

When I play games. I don't want ads.

What dies everyone recomend. I'd prefer free. But if I HAVE to pay I'd like a decent one.

Bonus. If it has a vpn. That I can select locations for great. If not no worries

It occurs to me that a plugin that mutes audio would be devalue youtube ads

you don't even have to make it do anything (Allthough you should) because it also serves as a public metric for how many people are muting youtube ads in protest of the lack of adblock support.

This metric would then supply advertising contracts with some pretty hard data on how many people are doing this and therfore leverage to reduce the value of youtube.

Youtube will have to pick the path that keeps it profitable which means allowing users to use adblock.

2.) Second thing i noticed is that when im using dev console i almost never get ads

The list of ad-free YouTube country.

Given the widespread awareness of the VPN workaround for having an ad-free experience on YouTube across various devices, including iOS/iPadOS/tvOS YouTube client and Smart TVs (both for ATV YouTube client and non-ATVs), it is now a perfect time to compile a list of countries where YouTube ads are not encountered.

This post is perfect for:

- Anyone who use iOS/iPadOS/tvOS YouTube client and want to block ads without sideloading or install third-party apps.

- Anyone who use non-Android TVs and YouTube ATV clients.

- Anyone who like to use the original YouTube app.

I'm sorry if there are any mistakes in this post. If you notice any errors/typo, please correct me in the post. Thank you.

Country Reason
🇦🇱 Albania - Europe Less developed country.
🇰🇭 Cambodia - Asia Less developed country.
🇨🇮 Ivory Coast - Africa Less developed country.
🇱🇦 Laos - Asia Less developed country.
🇲🇲 Myanmar - Asia Currently have a conflict.
🇲🇴 Macau - Asia Unknown.
🇲🇬 Madagascar - Africa Less developed country.
🇲🇻 Maldives - Asia In developing state.
🇷🇺 Russia Currently involved in a conflict.

This post shares a list of countries where YouTube has very few ads or none at all. If you still see ads while using a VPN in these countries, try the following solutions:

  • For Computer/PC: Use FedBlock to automatically fast-forward through ad content without triggering an anti-adblock warning.
  • For Android: Use Skip Ads by QuangHuyPham to automatically skip ads and mute their sound on YouTube.
  • For iOS/iPadOS/tvOS Youtube client: Unfortunately, there is currently no available option for this platform. Apologies for any inconvenience.
  • For non-Android TVs and YouTube ATV clients: Unfortunately, there is currently no available option for this platform. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Since we in r/Adblock, I recommend to try:

- uBlock Origin for computer/PC/Firefox Android (please update your filter daily)

- Brave for all device.

- NewPipe if you want the FOSS app for Android

- ReVanced if you want to modify the original YouTube client for Android

Question on ads alternative - direct pay per view?

Just had an idea, wanted to discuss.

Going off this (might not be 100% accurate):

https://www.pipiads.com/blog/pay-per-view-ads-for-my-website/

Over the past 18 months, I have earned a total of $900 from AdSense ads on tonyflorida.com. This amount is based on approximately 150,000 page views and nearly 600,000 ad impressions. On average, my page RPM (revenue per thousand page views) is $6.16. The impression RPM, which is the revenue per thousand ad impressions, is $1.51.

Okay, so that's 6.16 per 1000 views, 0.0062 per view. Of course this guy and many others are losing the game because of ad blockers, even google now youtubes customers' CPUs as a retaliation.

So here's the pitch:

Browser extension that recognises certain code on the web site and pays its author an equivalent of $0.005-0.01, let's just for simplicity's sake say ETH. As a result, you as a user get NO ADS at all.

Looking at another quite-low-credibility-article:

https://bloggingwizard.com/website-statistics/

  1. On average internet users in the US visit over 130 web pages per day

Websites are a staple part of the average person’s day. In the US, the average internet user browses over 100 different web pages on a daily basis.

So that gives 130 * 30.5 = 3965 page views per month, multiplied by 0.008 (just average out-of-my butt number) per page view, that would be about $30 per month, browsing completely ad-free internet.

Would it make sense or I'm just talking shit here?

How to skip Hulu ads on ios

I am posting about this because I have looked everywhere and not found a good method to get past the ads on ur iOS device

So what your gonna do is open safari and go to Hulu and sign in to ur account

Now what ur going to see is the page where it says welcome to Hulu and it’s going to try to direct u to open it on the app but what ur gonna do is press the AA button at either the bottom or the top of ur page right next to the search bar then ur going to click the request desktop website

now you should be able to watch on ur phone with skippable ads all you have to do is when ur watching a video and a ad shows up just press the button where it allows you to skip forward 10 seconds now if this doesn’t work you can try to use adblocker which I also had running so I don’t know if it works without it

As a extra step what I did is added it to my Home Screen but the only problem is when u go to open the app it’ll make u sign in every time and have to change to desktop view

Hope this works

can't purge filter lists in Ublock Origin?

ever since YouTube's war on adblockers started i have gotten into the habit of purging and then updating the filter list before visiting YT's site. but today when i went to do this i noticed the purge button in the dashboard is missing. as i have two different laptops i checked on my other one and it's the same on it as well. did Chrome somehow remove this feature, or did Ublock? i'm hesitant to uninstall/reinstall Ublock in case Chrome somehow decides to block reinstallation. it appears the extension is still available in the store, so i'm not sure how to proceed here.

You realize that all AdBlock, secure VPN services, and secure web browsers etc. are all spying on you?

They all sold out. They all have shill companies that have a direct relation to Google. Even Nord VPN and Duck Duck Go. Don't believe the commercials - they are not required to tell you the whole truth. Nobody spends a thousand hours or more of development time and never gets paid. It simply does not make sense.Do me a favor and count each time the word "Google" or "Alphabet" or "Third Party" appears in the EULA for any of your ad block programs that supposedly don't send their data to "Google" or supposedly they have a whole staff that works for free. The only way an ad block program works for free is if you write it yourself. Every single one of them has a relationship to either Google or a shill company that has a relationship with Google, and they are still collecting your buying and banking habits. They are selling to Google behind the scenes. Granted these third party browsers and vpn services don't do pop ups to notify you of ads, this will happen later, in a disconnected fashion so you are less aware that they are still getting top dollar for your private browsing habits.

Sans you writing your own adblock sofware, browsers, or VPN tools - the best method to block ads is still the hosts file update. All known spam adware companies get 127.0.0.1 IP address.

With YouTube's recent aggression regarding all adblockers, someone needs to make a website or community thread that allows users to submit screenshots or videos of inappropriate ads, whether it's on YouTube or YouTube Kids.

I understand YouTube needs to stay profitable through featuring advertisements on the videos on their platform, HOWEVER the audacity to be this aggressive with anti-adblock despite all the inappropriate, sexual, and just disgusting (scat, animated gore on yt kids, etc) ads and content featured on their platform is simply unacceptable. I don't know much about law when it comes to this topic, but there has to be some law or rule that is being broken right? Am I crazy for thinking so?

iWebTV has the best pop-up blocker I’ve seen on iOS. But you can’t really watch videos in the browser with it. Any fix or alternative?

There’s an app called iWebTV for iOS that allows you to browse any and all streaming sites and cast the in-screen video directly to your TV or streaming box. It’s pretty nifty. One of the great parts about it is that it blocks all pop-ups super effectively. However, I’d like to watch video on my tablet rather than on the TV (for instance if the TV is being used by someone else) but whenever the app detects a streaming video, it takes over the player and sets it up to stream. So, it’s almost impossible to watch the videos in the iWebTV browser. I checked the settings but I see no option to disable that. Are there any alternatives? The pop-up blocking is fantastic in this app, but I don’t think i can use it for streaming in-browser.

Not sure if ayone else noticed the "Product Badge" in some videos of youtube a rectangular publicity at a side (because Youtube don't give enough publicity), but the problem is that when I noticed I did what is common, using adblock to try to make it disappear, the problem is the banner keep appearing even while I tried to use adblock to make it disappear, but it keep appearing, and the option of remove it was not there anymore. I decided to reload the page and even remove in filters but it don't seem to work, when I put the mouse near it, it disappear but when left alone in the video it keep appearing. I was not sure if leave it here or in youtube reddit but maybe someone have a suggestion or also happened to them.

Blocking just annoying ads

Is there an ad blocker that actually lets me block only annoying ads, which may be defined by some critera like

  1. pop ups
  2. if there are more than 3 ads
  3. if add blocks your view with a countdown
  4. if add is covering full screen with a tiny x button to close

e.t.c e.t.c

Most sites ask me to unblock ads, but then I have no idea what my experience is going to look like. I wish there was an in between customizable solution, maybe there is? I am newish to the topic.

Does it matter if user web analytics are sent to the website's domain vs sub-domain?

Figured this community might know how ad blockers work more than others:
If I'm only sending user web analytics/logs/performance metrics to my own servers (no third party tracking), is it more likely for them to be blocked by browsers/ad-blockers/privacy-trackers/party-poopers if these logs are going to a website's domain (such as website.com/sentry or website.com/snowplow) or to a sub-domain (like sentry.website.com or snowplow.website.com)? This is assuming I have user permission, more of a technical question attempting to avoid certificate/cookie-related trouble I might not be aware of in this scenario.

Why is my Adblock paused?

Hey, I downloaded Adblock from the Chrome extension store about 2 months ago and had no problems for a while. I didn't get any of the premium or enhanced versions and just got the basic one you can download after paying a one-time donation. However, a couple of weeks ago I lost all ad-blocking capabilities and all ads are back to being visible. I didn't tinker at all with the settings apart from pausing it on Kelly Blue Book's website because they would not allow you to use the site with it on. Does anyone know why this happened? I tried looking in the settings for something I might have accidentally switched on/off but they seem to be the same as I have always had them. Did Adblock just get this bad or could they also be trying to push users to sign up for monthly/yearly donation plans to access the same features you could with a one-time donation?

Ads and web sites - a proposition

In most real life situations, you have ads for various things. Walk into a subway, you see ads. Drive down the highway, you see ads.

You have the choice to look at them. Or not.

Web sites and web browsers should work together so that there is ad space on some part of the screen. If you want to look at ads, you look there. If you don't, you don't have to sit through 30 seconds (or whatever) of video ads or intrusive ads that don't go away easily.

Life would be more normal and the user experience would become so much better.

Ads would get served and people would be less like to use ad blockers.

Ads are getting out of control with today's methods.

Can't use YouTube with Adblock

Can't use YouTube with Adblock

I'm using uBlock origin, and YouTube no longer loads videos or the home page, it's just black or still pictures of the thumbnail.

How do I bypass this?

AdBlocking on SmartTVs - possible? Through Firefox + AddOns?

Hello,

I’m thinking about getting some sort of (Smart-) TV. Haven’t been using one for 10+ years but I need something to consume media from while comfortably sitting on the couch. Sitting on the PC all day everyday gets pretty exhausting.

Because I’m a PC user, I have AdBlockers in some form running 100% of the time.

The YouTube vs AdBlock thing and doing Watch Together on Discord showed me that I much rather don’t consume media at all than having to sit through that amount of intrusive, toxic advertising.

When on a (Smart-) TV, I’d probably watch YouTube 90% of the time and Netflix for like 10% - so having the ability to AdBlock on YouTube is tremendously important and the absolute priority.

Because YouTube is a bit difficult to use with actual AdBlocking, I have some sort of extension in Firefox that plays the ad at like 500% speed or so - that works great.

But also AdBlocking in other applications would be great.

My question regarding (Smart-) TVs is: are there any that I can install Firefox + AddOns on? Or some that allow AdBlocking altogether?

Because if no, I ain’t buying a TV. Ads are an absolute deal-breaker.

YT - blocking ads excepts for videos

I would like to stop ads on Youtube, without blocking videos ads, because I want to support youtubers.
I want to block only in-feed ads and the ones appearing on the right of the video player.

I use adblocker ultimate, is there any script/rule for block every ads except for the videos ads?

AdGuard is Russian…

I’d considered using AdGuard but I was a little concerned about providing my entire web data to an unknown private company.

Turns out that company is Russian, so maybe one to avoid: https://adguard.com/en/blog/official-response-to-setapp.html

Is there a way to use an adblocker and not get that youtube adblock popup?

For context, I use Chrome and I have been wanting to use an adblocker but with Youtube's anti adblocker popup, it got me thinking on whether there is a way to use an adblocker and find a way and somehow not see the adblock or specifically block ads on all websites except for youtube. Is there a way you can do either or these things?

YouTube to alternative frontends

If you're a Firefox user, I've developed a plugin that redirects videos to an alternative front end, such as piped.video. This lets you not watch YouTube videos and also means that you not need to verify your age.

When you click the home button on a redirected site, there's an option to seamlessly return to the YouTube page, helping you keep your recommendations on track.

Check it out here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/yt-redirect-tab/ or explore the code on GitHub: https://github.com/SO9010/YT-Redirect

I welcome any feedback you may have!

What is the best adblock for YouTube?

I would normally be fine with YouTube premium, but they raised the price to a ridiculous amount. When I saw 20 dollars taken off my card by YouTube premium, especially at a time when I really needed the money, that right there was it, lol, they doing too much now.

So now, I wanna look into some good adblockers. I heard Total Adblock is really good. But I'm also kinda a novice at this, lol.
