Youtube trying to fool adblockers again?

Hey I use Ublock Origin and youtube seems too be presenting adds as videos themselves to fool the extension. Does anyone understand how this works or know of a solution?

Did Adblock recently start blocking Youtube Ads again? Because it's working for me!

I have had Adblock for a couple of years and it was working great until YouTube found a way around it, as I'm sure all of us experienced. That was probably a year ago. But now, suddenly a couple days ago, my ads all get skipped automatically now! I forgot that I still had Adblock as one of my extensions and at first I was confused, I thought YouTube was giving me a free premium account. Then I looked and I saw that I still had Adblock installed and this is the only explanation as to why it is skipping through the ads now. I don't see any other posts about this so I'm confused, is it just me!?

tired of Adblock pro

I bought a lifetime subscription to this app, and it works well in some ways. I used to pay for YouTube Premium, but this app allowed me to stop paying because it has a feature that lets me keep watching YouTube videos even when I’m not in Safari. Everything was great until I decided to use one of the features: setting custom settings for the URLs I open in Safari. The feature doesn’t work, and even after a while, I noticed that everything related to the entire settings, except for that feature I loved about YouTube, isn’t working. So, that’s why I contacted them to tell them about the problem, even though I’ve followed all their instructions in the app. They didn’t respond. I’m currently using iOS and macOS devices, and I’m using Safari as my default browser. Since I’m tired of paying for subscriptions for simple tasks, I decided to use Little Snitch, an app that allows me to block specific URLs. AdBlock Pro claims to have some unique features that you’ve never seen that work, except for this one for YouTube. I’m looking for your advice on how to block specific URLs without having to pay for paid subscriptions.

My friend ask why ads still appear when they use an adblocker.

My friend is starting to curious about how to block ads since ads is getting so annoying.

I know it isn't their things to ask, but it's starting to become their needs due how invasive ads are.

My friend ask why do ads still appear when they have use an adblocker, a rookie misunderstanding just like me backthen when I learn how adblocking works.

Me: remember when you get spam call?

My friend: yes.

Me: that's how ads work, so then you started to put the spammers number into the block list so the spammers couldn't call you anymore.

My friend: so I have to block ads manually?

Me: basically yes, but there are Communities that already doing that, so you can use their filter. Those filters already in your adblocker. Have you notice something as "Easylist"?

My friend: Oh I see.

My friend: But why do the ads still visible?

Me: ads is just like 'spammers', it happens all over the world, each of them has their 'unique' code based on their region.

That's why you still get some ads, because you haven't add filter which came from our region, or maybe the ads haven't been included yet in the filter.

So far, that's my best explanation to my friend. I think he get my point.

After that conversation, my friend hasn't gotten any ads, atleast until today.

Adblock for YouTube removing first two/three video upon search

Hey guys, so I got Adblock for YouTube due to the base Adblock not working anywhere, and it's definitely great, but it's been coming at a strange expense: it blocks the first two videos whenever I search. I know this to be the case b/c they were not blocked in Incognito wherein I have the Adblock disabled.

Anyone know what the workaround to this is? Or am I alone in the situation?

Is there a way to turn off adguard dns for a specific app

Hey people. I recently got a mobile game that I've been enjoying a lot and even spent money on it allowing me to bypass any and all in-game ads. When I have my adguard dns turned on, the game crashes everytime an ad is supposed to play, this doesn't happen when I have it turned off. (and since I've spent money I still get no ads)

It is sorta annoying to have to switch between dns everytime I want to play so I wonder.

Is there an actual way to allow the app to bypass the dns or no?

YouTube disabling my Adblock?

Hi, I've been using AdBlock for years now and it worked for ages on my Chrome, so I didn't see ads for like years lol. Recently, with the new crackdown, AdBlock has been rather well mitigated by YouTube. I noticed recently, that AdBlock is on for all other websites but when I go to YouTube it is instantly disabled. I did not set it up to do this so am wondering if this is some scummy tactic used to remove my AdBlock?

I was wondering if such an app exists where it blocks all those annoying & intrusive ads on free with ads versions of apps. I have a YouTube premium account that I pay for so I can listen to videos while at work ad free and with my phone off. I’ve been doing this since 2015 when YouTube red released so it would be pretty annoying to have to stop.

I’m sick of paying that company money, is there a different app I could use? Maybe there’s an internet browser app that would let me use those features? The main thing is playing in the background but ad free is huge too

Thanks

UBlock origin is starting to fall on chromium browsers?

My gf has been using OperaGX as she somehow works better in it than in any other, but she has recently seen that UBlock is prompting the delay-video-by-ad-time thing and without it the in-built adblocker is prompting the message.

My question is, has UBlock already been cracked on chromium?

I use Firefox and Brave and both have had no problem, but I tried on Opera and the same thing with my gf happens.

Adblock related internet failed connectivity?

I had recently gotten very sick of all of the ads on YouTube and decided I wanted to use an adblocker. I know most recommendations were for Firefox and ublock origin. I am lazy and am fine with chrome so I didn't do that. I installed 2 different ad blockers (Malwarebytes one and another that I don't recall) and fired up youtube. Played the videos without the ads, YouTube wasn't haply with me and gave the typical warning. I don't think much of it and just enjoy binge watching youtube for the rest of the night. The next day, I open up my computer and my internet isn't working. Computer sees the wifi, says it has a connection but is incredibly slow. I go through all of the diagnosis routes (rebooting PC and modem multiple times, reinstalling drivers, uninstallijg the adblocker plugins, clearing DNS cache, checked all my firewall settings, took out and put back in my wifi card) but to no avail. I turn off my PC for the day and do some other stuff. Come back the next day, internet seems to be working just like it was 2 days ago. Don't think much of it. Reinstall the one adblocker I was using (the malwarebytes one) and used my computer for the rest of the day as normal. I wake up today to log on and do some work and my internet is down again. The ONLY thing that changed between yesterday and today was the adblocker. I verified some things with my ISP that there were no weird things going on with my service the last couple of days. Is Google stopping my machines internet from working because I'm using an adblocker? Is that even possible?

How to block ads:

First of all this is a follow up to my post called #FuckYoutubeAds

I have an adblocker, I use Brave browser with Ublock origin, + Ad guard DNS. which is the best combo for Blocking Ads, Trackers, Malware, Fishing websites, scams, and even server side ads like twitch right now. I know its a chromium based browser, But i still use i for 3 main reasons:

A: Brave is a privacy focused browser its always trying to block ads and even gives you the option of seeing sensible approved ads to still support creators. Brave will also still support Manvifest V2 AD/Content blockers when they are depleted in 2025. https://brave.com/blog/brave-shields-manifest-v3/

B: Brave Has the best Adblocker around, and works flawlessly with UBO. They are both community run and invasive Ads like YouTube are not a problem. The filter lists and methods are constantly updated so this is not an issue even if they are briefly broken.

C: Chromium based browsers are not a threat right now. Google can't sensibly stop adblockers or other programs via this method without affecting other browsers like edge. Which will piss off their respective companies.

Here is how i effectively block ads on Different platforms.

Mobile (IOS): Ad guard DNS. I use the ad guard app, with Ad guard DNS profile. I can customise filter lists, parental controls and even make custom user rules over the DNS at https://adguard-dns.io/en/dashboard/ This will block any ads you see system wide. But for ads that are not blockable by DNS like YouTube i use Either a Modded IPA or Brave browser/Safari With ad guard for Mobile.

TV: I don't have a smart TV its a Sony tv, So my best bet is Ad guard DNS. But this doesn't block all ads, however it does reduce alot of them. If you have an Android Tv with an Appstore, Adguard can be installed. This allows for ad free Youtube, Or you can install a Modded Youtube APK.

PC: I use Brave With UBO and my Adguard DNS. This blocks almost Every ad, tracker, Malware link, Fishing link and more from Millions of rules and Hundreds of filter lists.

A few other Notes:

I use https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock And Adblock-Tester.com to Test adblockers and how effective they are, as well as common websites with hard to block ads like Youtube.com Or Twitch.tv

Adblock plus is becoming more defective than Ublock origin or adguard. This is because of many reasons, but mainly because of the scripts and methods used are not always updated. Its also the Most popular adblocker on the chrome web store, making it pretty high on the target list of companies like Youtube.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Seeing ads that are pornographic or blaintently scams, are not personalised. That is simply youtube. You can only enable personalised ads if you are over 18 anyway which you can't even do if your signed out. Which is when i see them. and its not just me, others do to. Even on School computers where data on each computer is wiped and reset to a custom default everyday people can still see these ads. As i said anyway, brave is privacy focused, so its not like trackers or cookies track me. I don't watch that kind of content and its not fun or kind being told i do because of ads when the community does everything they can to stop them.

YSK you can in fact block ads on iOS

For YouTube: download the AdGuard app. On the YouTube app, press “share” then “more” then “Block YouTube Ads (by AdGuard). It will open the video in the AdGuard app and play it there. This is not 100% optimal as it does not save your place in the video or your YouTube account, but it’s an option. If anyone has a better solution that works within the native app, i’m all ears.

For twitch: I have found that ProtonVPN is 99% effective at blocking ads from playing on the twitch app. For this, you need to download ProtonVPN, turn on the VPN, and click “NetShield” then “Block malware, ads, and trackers”. I don’t know if a proton subscription is required for this, as i have had a subscription already for the proton platform as I use many of its services.

Put your suggestions below! <3

is Adblock same as DNS?

I am using Firefox with Ublock Origin and its working well with the ads, however, I am looking for more privacy on the internet. So I was looking at the AdGuard DNS which has a free tier.

Will I need an adblock if I have a DNS provider?

Also, on a side note, is the free tier subscription enough for a couple hours online everyday?

Pie adblocker

Felt I should mention this since I haven't seen anyone talking about this and I keep getting ads for this adblocker. Just wanted to give everyone a fair warning its probably some sort of scam, the reviews are obviously botted for both their adblocker and shopping rewards. Pretty sure this also flags on malwarebytes and it seems too good to be true, earning money from watching regular ads?? anyways thought I should just post this as a fair warning to those who might want to install it.

How to watch YouTube videos without ads on Chrome

How to watch YouTube videos without ads on Chrome

Hi everyone,

Apparently YouTube can now pause the AdBlock once we click on videos so it can then throw ads in our faces, which is annoying so I played around with AdBlock's settings a bit and seemingly found a fix for now!

(AdBlock extension is required, it can be imported from the Chrome Web Store)

  1. Open AdBlock settings
  2. On the left side of the screen choose "Customize"
  3. Look for "Manually edit your filters" and click on "Edit"
  4. Add line "@@https://www.youtube.com/watch"
  5. Click on "Save" and that's it!

https://preview.redd.it/0w87jg4idkvd1.png?width=739&format=png&auto=webp&s=df407c44d781ab9a2b788e2b82b936ecc1a09fc1

*You might have to manually un-pause the AdBlock once after doing all this upon clicking on any video (if the ads start playing), you can restart the browser too just in case but from there it works flawlessly, at least for me!

Hope it works for y'all too! :)

"Video unavailable. This content isn't available" Is it ban? Does it have to do with using an adblock?

From today, my account and many others reported on reddit got "infected" with the message of "This content isn't available" for EVERY video on youtube, both on PC and phone.
Switching account works for now, but I read some other posts that up to 4th, 5th alternative accounts got "infected" anyway.

My question is that does it have to do with using an adblocker? That by using one according to some "terms of service" and whatnot they can silently ban you without any warning beforehand?
Please help if possible.

Youtube and Adblock

Youtube is turning off my Adblock. I can see the icon in the upper right of the page turn from red to green. The good news is, Adblock seems to be able to push past the longer (usually 30 second) ad at the beginning and only show the ad that displays the "Skip" prompt after five seconds. It's kind of fun to watch Youtube and Adblock struggle for control.

Adblocker for your entire network!

I've started a new project recently and I want to do some market research.

It is a ad-blocker that goes between your modem and your router.

The black box is the ad-blocker

At the moment it is just a raspberry pi running a DNS server with a list of banned domain-names.

I have a strong feeling that this is a product many would benefit from.

Imagine if your:

  • TV
  • Computer
  • Smart Phone apps

Were rid of ads in one fell swoop!

Even the streaming-services are starting to display ads even when you're paying for their service.

YouTube can't detect your ad-blocker because its not on your device.

I have high hopes for this product.

Would you pay $50 for this product?

Me first, the moment I found out that ads was so much annoying. It made me try to find out how to block ads.

I think the history repeat itself. The number of downloaded adblockers and "Modded apk that the ads 'removed' from it" are growing when ads is more annoying.

A lot of my friends are used to embrace ads so the content inside the sites they have been visiting are free.

But since the ads are gradually more annoying for them, they are starting to ask me how to block ads, even asking about Modded apk.

I know it's not their thing for being curious about it, but I thing it started to be their needs.

How to simply block POST requests???

Your options:

The "Network Request Blocking" option in the DevTools. Problem: only accepts URL patterns, not HTTP methods or other parameters.

Using a userscript solution. This is incredibly complicated for this supposedly simple task. It doesn't help that most existing solutions are either not MV3 compliant or need workarounds around it. Not as user friendly too, even for developers like me (imo)

AdBlocker. I don't want that. It's too much for me. Too much script injection.

What to do? Is there no simple way? Are browsers literally made to help people collect data from you nowadays?

Youtube automatically disabling adblock?

So, this started happening today, I have Adblock on, I load a video and the usual Adblock is against TOS screen comes up, then goes away after a second, and then ads start to play. I check and...my Adblock is disabled? So Youtube can now actively turn off your adblock extension.

Chrome is warning that uBlock Origin may soon lose support. This aligns with YouTube's recent crackdown on ad blockers. Google plans to phase out Manifest V2 extensions by mid-2024. YouTube is implementing new anti-adblock measures.

I usually recommend consumer electronics and sponsored results are mostly accurate in finding what I want. I have configured both uBlock and AD Block to allow ads on Google.com but I am still not getting the sponsored results.

How do I solve this?

Is there a way to block Google ads on Windows?

Context: I'm playing Android games on Windows with Google Play Games and I'm sick of ads.

Normally, I'd install AdAway or Blokada 5 or DNS66, but, obviously, they're not availabe through the PC Google Play.

Adblocker for iPhone to stop youtube and browser ads

(First timer, on iPhone)

Is there any workable ad blocker for iPhone that stops browser and youtube app? I have AdBlock Plus and AdGuard but neither of them work. Adblock Plus used to work but hasn’t for months now. Luckily I don’t really use the browser to watch/read things often but I do use youtube and it’s sooooooo bad right now.

youtube manages to load an ad before adblock kicks in

i'm in opera gx, not limiting ram or cpu, i'm using ublock origin, whenever i open a youtube video, an ad comes in but is stuck in loading and is just a black screen, i'm thinking the page is loading first then the adblock kicks in, which lets the ad through, i have to refresh the page just for the ad to go away, which is starting to get frustrating

i remember reading somewhere that there's a way to not let the page load before adblock loads, but i can't find it anywhere, how do i do it?

Adgaurd no longer works on comic sites

Anyone have any recommendations on how to get around this. I use 2 websites to read comics (manga/manhua/manhwa) kaliscan.com and webtoon.xyz which are both pretty cancer to read on without a adblock. For context I use the dns adgaurd thing to avoid ads and ot has worked reliably on everything except YouTube.

Adblock Plus stopped working on youtube for me

For the last 2-3 days I've been seeing youtube adds constantly. I've been using ABP for years and never saw any adds on youtube, so it's quite annoying. It makes youtube unusable. Has there been some change on youtube that breaks Adblock Plus? I'm using Firefox btw.

YouTube Testing Server-Side Ad Injection: How's the Ad Blocking Community Planning to Fight Back?

Hey everyone,

I recently saw that YouTube is testing server-side ad injection, potentially making it harder for ad blockers to function effectively. This has me concerned about the future of ad-free viewing and its impact on the community.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts: How do you think the ad-blocking community plans to respond to this? Are there any strategies or tools in the works that we should know? What can we do collectively to push back against this development?

I am looking forward to hearing your insights!

Any alternatives to Adblock?

I am receiving ads about adblock premium, with the title of the window or tab being "Adblock plus has been updated". This happens every single day, not once or twice a week. It is ironic that the software I use to block ads is now the only thing throwing ads at me.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a different ad blocking extension that won't hit me with a pop up every single day?

why uBlock origin is the best Ad blocker in the chrome extension store

uBlock origin actually blocks youtube ads without an adblocker warning, and its also free, its in the chrome extension store and the best thing is that it blocks every ad, EVERY AD, i would recommend downloading uBlock origin to be ad-free!
and guess what, it does not need ur credit card, its free and stops showing 18+ ads!
