How to block ads:

First of all this is a follow up to my post called #FuckYoutubeAds

I have an adblocker, I use Brave browser with Ublock origin, + Ad guard DNS. which is the best combo for Blocking Ads, Trackers, Malware, Fishing websites, scams, and even server side ads like twitch right now. I know its a chromium based browser, But i still use i for 3 main reasons:

A: Brave is a privacy focused browser its always trying to block ads and even gives you the option of seeing sensible approved ads to still support creators. Brave will also still support Manvifest V2 AD/Content blockers when they are depleted in 2025. https://brave.com/blog/brave-shields-manifest-v3/

B: Brave Has the best Adblocker around, and works flawlessly with UBO. They are both community run and invasive Ads like YouTube are not a problem. The filter lists and methods are constantly updated so this is not an issue even if they are briefly broken.

C: Chromium based browsers are not a threat right now. Google can't sensibly stop adblockers or other programs via this method without affecting other browsers like edge. Which will piss off their respective companies.

Here is how i effectively block ads on Different platforms.

Mobile (IOS): Ad guard DNS. I use the ad guard app, with Ad guard DNS profile. I can customise filter lists, parental controls and even make custom user rules over the DNS at https://adguard-dns.io/en/dashboard/ This will block any ads you see system wide. But for ads that are not blockable by DNS like YouTube i use Either a Modded IPA or Brave browser/Safari With ad guard for Mobile.

TV: I don't have a smart TV its a Sony tv, So my best bet is Ad guard DNS. But this doesn't block all ads, however it does reduce alot of them. If you have an Android Tv with an Appstore, Adguard can be installed. This allows for ad free Youtube, Or you can install a Modded Youtube APK.

PC: I use Brave With UBO and my Adguard DNS. This blocks almost Every ad, tracker, Malware link, Fishing link and more from Millions of rules and Hundreds of filter lists.

A few other Notes:

I use https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock And Adblock-Tester.com to Test adblockers and how effective they are, as well as common websites with hard to block ads like Youtube.com Or Twitch.tv

Adblock plus is becoming more defective than Ublock origin or adguard. This is because of many reasons, but mainly because of the scripts and methods used are not always updated. Its also the Most popular adblocker on the chrome web store, making it pretty high on the target list of companies like Youtube.

Seeing ads that are pornographic or blaintently scams, are not personalised. That is simply youtube. You can only enable personalised ads if you are over 18 anyway which you can't even do if your signed out. Which is when i see them. and its not just me, others do to. Even on School computers where data on each computer is wiped and reset to a custom default everyday people can still see these ads. As i said anyway, brave is privacy focused, so its not like trackers or cookies track me. I don't watch that kind of content and its not fun or kind being told i do because of ads when the community does everything they can to stop them.
