How to officially block Ads on SoundCloud for Windows/Xbox/UWP!
In the SoundCloud App for Xbox, theres a bug (or feature?), that no advertisements are played. Xbox Apps are UWP Apps, meaning they can run natively on Windows (and more). You can easily install the Xbox UWP App on Windows, it will work fine. Problem is, that SoundCloud's Xbox App is not available officially in the Microsoft Store. That's why I archived the AppxBundle File (installation file) on GitHub. Just install and you will have an official SoundCloud App without ads on your PC.
Dont worry, the files are not edited and officially signed by Microsoft. You will run an official executable that was published on the Xbox Store.

Ads on s24
Hello everyone
I'm facing a very weird situation. I've been using a galaxy s9 for the last 7 years, and it was set to use a private dns directly on android network settings. It always worked like a charm. Never saw any ad. Now I'll focus on one app to describe this issue: IMDB. I never saw any ad on IMDB thanks to this private dns setting.
But now I'm using a s24+ and I set all the settings identical to my old s9, the same private dns. It happens that IMDB Started showing ads on the top bar and on the movies pages, huge ads.
The app is on the same version, the android settings also. I can't understand how on one smartphone I can block ads and on the other one I can't.
Does someone have a hint of what it may be causing it?

ISP blocked Adguard DNS
![]() |
Hello everyone. Almost every ISP in my country has blocked DNS servers that block ads. I used to use Adguard DNS for ad blocking but now it doesn't work. Even most VPN apps don't work. I don't know if it will work if I buy a raspberry pi and install AdGuard Home. Can you help me with this? [link] [comments] |

Good AdBlockers?
Hello all!
The fact that I'm here can probably say a lot about why I want an ad block. As I'm sure many are aware, The Pie adblocker extension (Made by the same creators of honey, yes the scam extension.) is being crammed down our throats. All I ever see now are those government-sponsored ads and Pie, which I don't want to see. Anyways, If anyone has some good, functional ad blocks for chrome, that would help a lot.
Thanks a lot!!

Anyone know of a working twitch adblocker?
ive been using stream cleaner https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/stream-cleaner/lehcglgkjkamolcflammloedahjocbbg?hl=en-US for a while now and its been great apart from the stream quality being subpar when blocking ads but its stopped working recently.

AD Block is LIT!
Wasn’t sure if adblock would do what it says, but man, after using it, no way I’m going back. Blocks everything! No dumb pop-ups, no YouTube ads, none of that weird autoplay garbage. Pages load way smoother too, feels like the internet actually works how it’s supposed to. Customization’s solid, lets you whitelist sites if you need to. If you’re online a lot, honestly kinda a no-brainer.

Is Pie Adblock Just Another Privacy Risk Like Honey?
So I've done a little bit of research, I've been seeing ads for Pie Adblock recently, and after going down a stupidly large wormhole, I’m starting to get some red flags about its privacy practices. Here’s what I think might pique yalls interest about this:
- They both have the same Co-Founder, which was also a developer of Honey, which we know had some serious privacy issues in the past, including, the main one, selling user data to third parties. Given that Pie Adblock has the same co-founder, I’m worried that it might be using similar methods to fund the service or monetize its users.
- The company has a very vague privacy policy. The privacy policy for Pie Adblock doesn’t give clear details on what happens to user data. It mentions using data to improve services, but doesn’t specify if they share or sell it with other parties.
- Cookies and Tracking uses aren't elaborated on. Like most other free services, Pie Adblock seems to collect cookies and user data, but the policy lacks transparency about how it’s used or shared.
Has anyone here used Pie Adblock? I’m curious what your experience has been, especially regarding privacy concerns. Should we be cautious about it, or am I overthinking it?

How do I ask AdBlock to block the ads on a Fandom-based Wiki, specifically? I've found instructions but I'm confused.
I'm not sure if this:
https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/AdBlock
Is answering my question, and if it is I'm asking for step-by-step instructions.
I'm trying to block all the ads on my most-used wiki:
https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/
And if you all could help with step-by-step instructions, I'd be grateful.

YouTube(TV) is basically unusable
I was watching a Jacob Geller video on Bloodborne's chalice dungeons. Upon selecting the video I am forced to deal with the first barrage of unskippable ads. About 2min in I am attacked with another barrage. This time is a 60 sec of unskippable ads and no "Next" button. Another 2 min in and I am, AGAIN, forced to watch 60 sec of unskippable ads.
To put this in perspective, within 4 min and 15 sec of a 11 min and 19 sec YouTube video, I was made to watch 8~10 ads.
THIS IS ABSURD for a number of reasons, but mainly because I am fairly sure that Jacob Geller channel did not set up the ads for his videos to be this aggressively obnoxious, which leads me to believe that YouTube is using these videos as a way to farm more ad revenue without the knowledge and conset from the creators, and they may very well be raking the money that was generated because of said creators and pocketing it.
YouTube is a terrible platform and the only thing that makes it remotely tolerable are adblockers or third-party video downloaders. If they block/ban your account, take it as a sign that you should just leave their platform altogether. Leave and never look back

Any YouTube alternatives for iPhone?
Are there any apps like there are for android for iPhone that have built in ad block? I just switched from an LG v60 to an iPhone 12 Pro Max. The biggest thing I miss is being able to watch and listen to YouTube ad free.

How to stop a pop-up that pauses a video from playing?
I'm watching a telenovela from a free website. And lately they added a popup that stops the video, and I can continue watching but only if I reload the page, then it stops again after 5 minutes. How can I block that popup? I think I could use uBlock but it doesn't work. Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker.

Anyone else having YouTube popups?
Heya, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue
Youtube in the last couple days has been detecting adblockers on my system (Firefox + Ublock Origin + Malwarebytes BrowserGuard) but the popup has disappeared after less than a second, seeming that one of the blockers is removing the popup
Anyone else had this?

Switching to iPhone and need some advice for Instagram
Hi everyone,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S24U at the moment and have been living with very few ads for years.
I really want a change of scenery for once though (been in the Galaxy S line since the S3) and am planning to switch to iPhone.
I am planning to use Firefox with uBlock Origin and adguard DNS for some apps.
For Instagram I don't know what to do though. On my current phone I use the MyInsta client which blocks ads very effectively, but there is no iOS version available.
I am in the EU so I can sideload apps on an iPhone. Does anyone have any experience with reliable ad-free Instagram clients?
Thanks!

Crashing after a few seconds?
![]() |
So the adblock browser app on android has been crashing today for the last few hours. Worked perfectly up until it happened. Every time I go on it, after a few seconds it freezes, can't click on anything and I get the 'adblock browser isn't responding' popup on my phone every time I try to use it. Is anyone else getting this?? I've even cleared cache twice, tried rebooting my phone twice and it still does it. All my other apps are fine and up to date. 😞 [link] [comments] |

How to install UBlock Origin since its no longer on the Chrome Web Store!
-
Go to the chromuim Github page

Challenges with uBlock Origin's Disablement in Chrome
uBlock Origin users need to adapt as Google disables the extension. Google is moving forward with its Manifest V3 rollout, affecting user access to uBlock Origin.
For many who depend on ad-blocking features, this change presents significant hurdles. As some users are left without a reliable means of blocking ads, discussions about alternatives have surged. The community must explore new options while remaining critical of the limitations imposed by Manifest V3. Developers are urged to work on compliant solutions that still uphold user preferences despite the shifting landscape.
- Many users see uBlock Origin automatically disabled in Chrome.
- The shift causes concerns among those who prioritize ad blocking.
- Users dash to find compliant alternatives for their needs.
- Developers face pressure to create viable replacement tools.
- Ongoing community feedback is essential for shaping future solutions.
- Exploring new avenues for ad blocking is vital in this context.
- Protecting user needs must guide future extensions.

How to Block Ads Effectively
To put it simply, Here is the Best way to block Ads Effectively on Different Platforms:
Browser: Firefox + Ublock Origin Or Brave Browser Inbuilt Adblocker
Mobile: Adguard App + Adguard DNS - Brave Browser For anything Complex (Youtube, Twitch, Etc)
TV: Adguard TV App - SmartTubeNext Sideload for YouTube
These are the Strongest Adblockers Around and Will block Ads on All sites and Apps
Important Points:
- Adguard Has Paid Versions, You Don't Really Need them
- Adguard DNS (Standard filters) are 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15 or Private DNS is Dns.Adguard-dns.com
- Adguard DNS Block System wide and Works on both Android and IOS, It blocks All Mobile game Ads
- Brave Is forked off of UBO and they are the Strongest Adblockers Around.
- DO NOT Use adblockers Like AdBlock Plus, or Generic adblockers from the chrome web store.
- DNS stands for Domain name System. Domain based blockers like Adguard DNS can only block URLs of known Ad servers. They will NOT block Any ads on sites Like YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Etc.
I Will Answer any comments asking for site specific Adblocking or Anything general :P

U Block Origin Lite is struggling Youtube. Blocks some ads, not others.
EVeryone told me to just get U Block Origin LIte are a U Block replacement.
Well I have it and my Youtube homepage is full of ads. A good number of recommended videos are actually just ads. I got bra ads. I am a man.
It does seem to be blocking some ads on videos though. Everytime I click a video I get one skippable ad and then I can watch the whole video. So it is doing something. But its not as good as Daddy U Block was thats for sure.

Alternative to Ublock Origin?
It says it's been removed from Chrome Store. I'm using Lite but it doesn't work as well.
When I Google, the recommendations are Total Ablock? I don't mind changing browsers, but I have a LOT of extensions in Chrome.
Ublock worked so well. :(

I’m having problems with AdGuard on my iPhone. Anyone else have these issues?
Long story short, I’m fed up with ads. I’ve been able to block them very easily on my windows PC with uBlock Origin, absolutely amazing extension. However, I’ve never really taken the time to try to do the same to my phone. For example, the YouTube app is just flooded with ads, and it’s super annoying. And I’m not going to pay $13+ for premium. If I can block ads for free, I’m doing just that.
It started with me blocking ads on mobile games (I’m sure we all know that apps by VooDoo are the worst). After doing some research, I downloaded an AdGuard DNS profile to my iPhone, and that worked very well. No more ads in games.
Now my next goal is the YouTube app and Safari. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the DNS by AdGuard is meant to block either of those. So, I decided to try the app. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be working right for me. I’m using the free version, as I still don’t want to pay to block ads (even if the paid version allegedly blocks ads in the YouTube app). I have gone to the settings and enabled everything as instructed, and in Safari, I allow it to access all websites. However, I still get cookie popups, which I also want to block. And when I go to YouTube on Safari, the video just doesn’t play at all. I have to refresh the page for it to work. It does block the ads, but something is preventing the video from playing when I first open it.
I tried AdGuard once before this, and deleted it because it just simply wasn’t working. I decided to give it a second chance to see if it was something I was doing wrong.
Now to my questions. Whenever I visit any website, I don’t want to block all cookies; I want to keep necessary and block the rest. Does the AdGuard app do this? If so, how do I get it to work? And a separate question regarding blocking those cookie consent popups. What happens when you visit a website you’ve never been on before, and it blocks the cookie popup? Since you didn’t select the cookie preferences you want, does it automatically accept all of them? Just the necessary ones? Because I don’t want to block them if it will then just allow all of them.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Alternative DNS than AdGuard for Android
Been using AdGuard for ages now and works across apps that I use. But I am getting errors that says "Private DNS can be accessed" and it asks to "Turn off Passive DNS". If I disconnects/connection to wifi again it works and if keep using internet frequently it also works.
It usually happens when phone stays idle for long duration like during the night. When I wake up and pick the phone and resolve above error I get flood of pending notifications. I think this is an ISP problem which I have recently switched.
So I looking for similar alternative which is reputed and works on most common apps.

Adguard and NextDNS on iPhone?
Hi I am so sick of adverts recently and decided to do something about it. I have the following idea and was wondering if someone could critique it?
Laptop: (I am somewhat content with this)
I am using Fedora on my Laptop. The browsers I am using are Brave and Firefox
- Browser Ads: Brave Shields for Brave / uBlock Origin for Firefox
- DNS Ads: NextDNS for further ad blocking
- VPN: ProtonVPN
iPhone: (I am having issues with this):
I am using Safari for my browsing.
- Browser Ads: Adguard
- In App Ads: Adguard
- DNS Ads: NextDNS
- VPN: ProtonVPN
For the iPhone setup I have heard that Adguard uses its own DNS and a proxy for blocking in app adverts. Will using Adguard interfere with using ProtonVPN or NextDNS?
This leads me to think, is NextDNS even needed for the iPhone setup? If it isnt, what can I use instead for my Laptop setup for DNS?
Note that I am getting protonVPN included with my proton plan. I am also thinking of purchasing the Adguard lifetime plan (I am not sure entirely what this includes). I also do not mind paying, but would like to keep the cost as down as possible for the best possible performance.

Youtube adds itself to Adblock whitelist
Today it happens two times so far, I am using Adblock on Firefox 135.0, when playing some video and after some self reloads, I notice that ads are starting to appear so I went to to the whitelist of Adblock and magically there is 'youtube.com', for sure I didn't whitelist the domain.
So I am guessing that youtube found out the way to add it self to the whitelist.
It is the second time it happens today, does anyone knows how to block / prevent this behavior?

Youtube "hiccups" with uBlock and YouTube NonStop
Starting today, I've experienced youtube videos reloading every 30 seconds or so. The video stops, the page reloads, and about one second later the video resumes where it left off, a kind of hiccup. I'm using uBlock and YouTube NonStop in Firefox.
The problem was persistent this morning before appearing to stop for several hours. Recently the hiccups have resumed.
I thought maybe this has something to do with the ongoing arms race between google and adblockers. Is anyone else experiencing this, or can anyone shed light on what's going on?

Random pausing of videos: is Youtube futher Detecting and Dogging users with ab blockers again?
Hello.
In the last few days, Youtube videos have been pausing unprompted. I am able to "unpause"/get the video moving again, only for it to pause again shortly after. This issue may have been triggered by a browser update (Firefox).
For those who are familiar, of course, could this Google/Youtube/Alphabet dogging and creeping on people's devices again, seeking out adblockers (uBlockOrigin in this case), or is there something else afoot?
Cheers

best adblock for ios?
for reference i have an iphone 8 so the max ios update i can get/have is ios 16.7, don’t really know if that matters much but anyways. i go on piracy sites a lot like hurawatch mostly and sometimes free manga sites too. the ads aren’t too bad on hurawatch but some sites it’s absolutely horrendous, like pop ups or finding my freaking calendar app filled w porn advertisement messages. no matter what adblock i try it never helps at all. what’s something free you guys recommend or maybe something i should be doing differently besides just downloading an adblock app? (don’t say not pirating that won’t happen)

Supporting creators with an adblocker : Is It Possible?
Plop !
I've been wondering about this for a while. I want to support the creators I watch on YouTube and Twitch, but I don’t want to be flooded with ads. I use blockers like uBlock Origin on YouTube and TTV LOL PRO on Twitch, and I’m wondering:
Do creators still get paid when we watch their videos/streams with an ad blocker enabled?
- If yes, great.
- If not, is there a way to make sure they still get compensated, even if the ad doesn’t display on my end?
I know there are other ways to support creators, and I already use them: Patreon, subscriptions, merch, etc.
Ideally, I’d like to be counted as someone who has "seen" the ad, even if I technically haven’t. Is this possible from a technical standpoint? Actually, this solution would have a double advantage:
- Taking money from big platforms and redirecting it to creators
- Avoiding the brainwashing effect of excessive advertising
I hope I made myself clear, it's really about having thebest of both world.
Looking forward to your thoughts.

Ads for other shows on HBO Max still getting through using uBlock
So I use the Firefox/uBlock setup to watch streaming ad free. I am using both ad free HBO Max & watching through uBlock but still occasionally when I start a new show or new season of a show I get an ad for another show that may be similar to what I'm watching for example I'll get ads for Animes while watching Samurai Jack. Has anyone found a workaround for this or do we just have to wait & hope uBlock updates for it? They should be considered ads as well & definitely should be blockable since they are almost as much of a nuisance as regular ads. They also seem to function in a similar way to ads with a skip button so they should be detectable by whatever algorithm uBlock uses to block between video ads.

Because I'm tired of getting updates, changing adblocks, installing addons, new manifests etc. Adblock in a browser works great with youtube but I have always some problems with twitch. Even if there are no ads the stream is black on start for 30secs before it appears or other issues like that.
I would like have something like PurpleTV but on desktop so I don't have to think about ads anymore.

Block YouTube ads on Smart TV and Xbox
I don't know if anyone has figured this out but I found a way to watch Youtube without ads on TVs that can't install external applications and on restricting consoles like the Xbox one.
For this to work you don't use the YouTube app but use the web version in the browser of your TV or Microsoft Edge on Xbox, if your browser supports extensions then you would just install UBO but most TV Browsers and Edge on Xbox don't support this so I use this method instead: Go to youtube website, find the video you want to watch, click the kebab button next to the video, select share, select embed and you'll be able to watch the video and no ads will load at all!
Thought this was cool so I shared it, may not be "blocking ads" but you don't see them and they don't disturb you watching a video.

Script / Extension question - Relevant in 2025?
Hi, I'm looking for some advice to see if these scripts/extensions are still relevant/required in 2025 or if its something that is probably already covered by uBlock Origin filters. Thank you.

Will I get banned on YouTube for using Pie ad blocker?
I've looked up this question and I've gotten mixed results. Some say its safe, and others say YouTube will ban you. Does anyone know?

No adblocks/adskips/adblockdns works on my phone
Its been a while since I started searching for methods and apps that will block ads for free without needing a browser or a vpn and nothing worked. All the methods I tried just don't block ads on my phone. Can someone please tell me an adblocker that will help or is there something wrong with my phone? Do I do something wrong? Someone please explain.

While on, AdNauseam blocks pretty much all of youtube? Or is it just me?
I'm guessing that youtube found yet another way to disable adblocking, since looking at my ad vault I could see all of the youtube elements.
Some friends have said they have had no problem with Ublock Origin so I'm unsure where the problem may lie.
Oh how I yearn for the old internet :C
Edit: for what it's worth, toggling off "Quick fixes" on uBlock filters did not do the trick

I wish uBlock Origin had an option to block American politics on reddit.
Like the title says. I'm just so damn tired of Americans ranting and memeing about their politics. uBlock Origin does a smashing job at blocking ads I just wish it could do the same for cringe.

Old Reddit/RES experiencing bugs with uBlock Origin
This started a couple of weeks ago. Occasionally, I'll try to hit the expand/collapse +/- buttons next to comments, or the reply button, or other site controls, and it won't do anything. The RES buttons to show text, video, and pictures sometimes fail to load too. When I check the browser console (Firefox), it shows several javascript errors.
Earlier, when attempting to make this thread, attempting to submit redirected me to a 404 page for some reason, but turning off uBlock Origin causes it to work fine. I tried turning off UBO's Quick Fixes filter but that did nothing to fix the issue, as I encountered the issues again when I submitted another thread elsewhere a few minutes ago.
Is this a known issue with a workaround, or is it something new that needs to be ironed out?

Twitch Ad Free Heaven
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vver9CI9zYI
It's not my channel nor do I even know the dude, but this is the most concise and functional instruction to get rid of Twitch Ads. I could just steal his instructions and paste them here but that didn't sit right.
The .js is updated dynamically.
Requirements: uBlock Origin and ability to read words.

Why does Stands Adblocker stopped working suddenly?
I was studying from my laptop and watching some youtube lecture and from yesterday ad blocker isn't blocking ads anymore. And I can't stand those ads anymore. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled the extension thrice. I deleted chrome from my laptop too and switched my microsoft edge. But nothing works, even tried another extension Adblock and that too isn't working. Can anyone help me out with this?

Block sponsored results in the Google app
Just like the title says I want to block sponsored results in the Google app on Android (not not the Google website in a web browser. My browser on Android is Firefox with ublock origin installed and it does block sponsored results but I like using the Google app. Don't ask me why I just do).
I'm currently using adgard private DNS on my phone and it kind of works by stopping the image for some sponsored results in my news feed from loading. What I mainly looking for is to block sponsored results in the search results of the Google app and possibly block all the shopping results. I want to go back to the good old days of doing a Google search and just seeing search results, not a whole bunch of extra shit.
I don't have access to a computer and I don't have The capability of setting up pi-hole at the moment and probably won't for a while longer.

Ad block for YouTube?
I know this question has already been answered but I thought youtube might have already restricted the ones I was reading about cause they were year old posts. (That and I'm too lazy to search) I'm probably one of the few who didn't mind the ads on youtube for awhile. But it has gotten so bad now that I just have to get an ad block. You spend more time watching the ads then the video I swear. I don't have any knowledge on what ad block works. And I've heard that youtube has been cracking down on adblocks and making it so that your experience gets worse if you use one. So I'm just wondering if there is one that still works that can bypass youtube restrictions and won't have youtube destroy itself out of pettiness.

Youtube on iphone
Hello everyone, i’ve got this issue with subtitles and it’s driving me crazy.
Many internet browsers can reproduce youtube subtitles, but when i put the video on fullscreen it changes the player, it uses the native ios player, which (i think) can’t reproduce the subtitles or create automatic ones. So i can’t watch youtube from the browser, i have to use the app to be able to see subtitles on fullscreen, since the youtube app doesn’t change the player in fullscreen.
The thing is, the app doesn’t have an add blocker and i can’t watch all those adds.
Is there any addblocker for ios that blocks adds on the youtube app? Is there any chance that a free one exists?

Looking for a good adblocker
Hi.
I'm looking for an ad and tracker blocker for the Chrome browser. Can you recommend one that works really well?
I like to read the web without so much visual load but it's full of ads and trackers (which we don't see).
I'm not interested in blocking YouTube ads because I have a Premium subscription.
Thanks!

Searching good alternative for Samsung Internet or good adblock for it
Hi together. Since I got my S23 in 2023 I am using the Samsung internet browser with "adp for Samsung internet".
Today I checked my apps in the playstore and saw that adp last update was in summer 2024. The ratings also are not really good.
I researched a bit and downloaded firefox because it has ublock as an extension.
But firefox feels really barebones because I cant change or set a download location or disable automatic downloads. Also there is no custom start site.
Samsung internet has all these options. Disable auto. downloads is really important for me as an security option because you never know. It also good options like enable/disable apps that can open links in the browser or disable tracking etc.
How can firefox be so good as a pc browser but barebones on mobile?
Is there an other safe and trustful browser with all the security and privacy options from Samsung internet? Or is there any good adblocker for it?
Thx
