A partial solution to YouTube's new ad-block blocking.

As far as I've tried most ad-blocking extensions on Chrome will eventually be detected by YouTube anti-ad-blocking updates.

However, I have found a partial solution. Using the "video speed controller"(link) extension you can instead speed up ads so they last only a few seconds.

Hope this helps anyone who is as frustrated as I am with this new update.

bypass Youtube anti adblocker policy

I just want to let you know that if like many others you have recently being blocked by Youtube due to its hateful anti adblocker policy, i came up with a solution that should not be fixed.

Use Private Mode. Thats it.

Don't forget to allow adBlock to access Private Mode. Using Firefox, it perfectly works.

YouTube AdBlock method

Today my AdBlock broke once again but I found a simple way to bypass it.

I use Opera GX so I am unsure if this will work on other browsers. Please let me know in the comments and I will add it to the post later on.

  1. Install Tampermonkey. (tutorials can be found on the website)
  2. Disable your Adblocker for YouTube. (this will cause issues later on if not done)
  3. Install the user script linked here to Tampermonkey. (disclaimer I do not own this script all credit for it goes to Joelmatic on GitHub).
  4. Enjoy Ad free YouTube once more.

Youtube ruined my account.

So I used adblock, then adblock plus, fadblock, ublock, all in firefox, and I think because I didn't stop their message against blockers once after some weird count of 3, they were able to block me from using youtube altogether. So I deleted the whole thing and got that lame "normal" back full of ads and where now I can only open a video by clicking directly and not opening a new tab. The new tab always leading to a white screen with grey boxes.

So I thought to myself, "okay, now i'm gonna try what some people recommended about just using the ublock", since I had deleted everything anyway. But the moment I installed again, and went there, youtube immediately recognized and nothing worked, and I had to delete once more to access youtube back to the worst it's ever been.

So, in resume, youtube won.

Grey tint on YouTube video

Don't think this has already been posted about, but today YouTube put a grey tint over the whole page which paused the video and wouldn't let me click on anything. AdBlockPlus has a "Block Element" feature that got rid of this issue.

Potential tip for Black screen on Youtube

I run a couple different adblockers at the same time, and youtube is doing their damdist to prevent them but i've found that when it comes up with the black screen instead of playin the vid because the adblokers are preventing the popup. diabling one or 2 of my adblockers and then reloading the page tricks youtube into thinking i've disabled them all. No idea if this will help others but its been repeatable for me and is working most of the time.

Another YT, Ad Block Question and Observation

I use YT mostly in the day to listen to music. I know there are other ways, but it is what it is.

After a lot of annoyance like most of you have had, I installed uBlock Origin in Chrome, cleared my cache and all was working fine.

Well, today I seem to be experiencing something new. Whenever I play any video, it stutters. I get about 2-5 seconds of solid play, then it hiccups for half a second to one full second. Watching the ad block counter on the uBlock icon, there seems to be a correlation to how many ads are pushed vs. the stutter occurence.

Anyone else seeing this? So far, YT hasn't made given me the dreaded "Disable your Adblocker" to continue warning. Instead, it's simply making the service unusable. I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this?

YouTube would not need ad block but they just keep making everything worse.

Has anyone else had THIS happen with the YouTube anti-adblock policy?

Hi! This is just something that's been happening to me these last three days, and which I find quite curious.

So just like everyone else, I got the anti-adblock warning message, and soon after that, the "three video countdown" and then got completely blocked from watching videos. And, just like everyone else who uses Chrome, I moved to Firefox and added the uBlock Origin extension to watch videos, though it ended up feeling more comfortable to just stay in Chrome and use the share>embed thingy to watch videos.

But the next day, when I opened YouTube in Chrome, I found that I was no longer blocked from watching videos, and could watch them just fine, without ads. I hadn't done anything to my adblock, and while I found this strange, I just shrugged and used YouTube for HOURS without any issue.

And a few hours later I was blocked again.

So this has been happening over and over: I get intermittently blocked and unblocked. Today I could watch videos on Chrome all day, no ads, no warning messages or anything.

I just think this is weird, has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone explain why this happens?

Youtube Filtering

You can paste this filter code block into the "MY FILTER LIST", which is located in the 'Advanced' tab on the left menu bar inside the Adblock settings. "MY FILTER LIST" is a single input field at the bottom.

This eliminates the POST request call back that targets your authenticated google profile. That's why none of this is applied to adblockers when not logged in to google. Here's the code that you simply* copy and paste.

youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)

youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, [])

Is there any add suppression tech that plays the add in the background but mutes and hides it from me?

So, instead of outright blocking adds, it should let youtube/twitch/etc think the add is playing, but on the client side have that shit muted and blacked out. Content creators can get paid, advertisers can get fucked. (Will be glad to pay subscriptions for content, once I stop having to pay for ads whenever I buy products that have been advertised.)

Organizing a protest in meatspace, picketing Google offices in Ontario.

Greetings youtube users. I, like many of you, are plumb tired of youtube's crap, and this whole anti-ad-blocking business is the final straw. As a Canadian, i have been particularly angered by Google's abuses of power, especially when they used banners on their site to artificially cultivate opposition to the implementation of basic regulations which are already in force on telecom companies of a similar market share. I've seen many people expressing desperation at the new restrictions, seeing no possible way of resisting youtube's crackdown, as these new measures seem to have put the adblockers on the backfoot. Many parallels were drawn between the reddit API situation and the youtube adblocker situation, which is an apt, if grim, comparison to draw. I was one of these people, until the solution dawned on me. We need to express our disapproval both on the internet, under google's thumb, and in the main domain which is out of their control: meatspace.

I'm talking about picketing their offices, protesting outside their facilities, and, possibly, even encouraging walkouts among their staff. History has shown that a combination of these two tactics, both cyberspace and meatspace protests, generate enough uproar to deliver results. Anonymous' campaign against scientology and the actions against SOPA and PIPA are a testament to this. While this may seem extreme, fighting for open access to information is something i've believed in for a long time, ever since Aaron Swartz took on JSTOR. Youtube isn't just a broadcasting system; it is an archive, an informational resource and a citizen's band communication medium all in one. Their current actions are analogous to a corporation buying up all of the CB radio frequencies and requiring a licensing fee to broadcast. For the sake of Poe's law, i want to further implore that i am completely serious about this, and will be proceeding with this if there are others who are also willing to show up. Anyways, if anyone is willing to participate in this, I will move forward with the requisite steps to picket Google offices in Ontario, Canada, including applying for permits and organizing web groups.

If you also want to picket your local office if you are in Canada or the US, please direct message me and i can try and help you organize. I will not be posting the addresses of any google offices on here, as i am fairly certain that this is against Reddit's TOS. Please feel free to share, crosspost and repost this call to action. Let's stand up for our right to be ad-free!

Cross-Platform Video Streaming App

Hey, just watched a video from Louis Rossman wherein his software development company released an android app called grayjay which allows you to follow creators across platforms, and stream their videos and/or livestreams ad free directly on your device. The app is not free but completely lacks DRM, so if you decide you don't want to pay for it, you can use it anyway (kind of like WinRAR). It's also open source.

While I have only just started using the app today, I have previously used FUTO Voice Input by the same company, and it does exactly what I wanted as advertised.

For more info and a link to the website, google his YouTube channel or other stuff, if you have figured out how to get past that adblock window. It won't work for your PC but it essentially allows you to do what Newpipe does, but cross platform, and with the integrated ability to download videos and audio.

The age of ad block blockers bypass.

So we are all seeing the Youtube anti-adblock bs. Some of us have found work-around, others haven't. But I want to say something about the social utility of ad-blocks (I know I am kind preaching to the choir here).

When an advertiser places an ad on a website they typically pay per thousand impressions. In some cases they pay per sale but that is less common. However the rate per thousand impressions is somewhat dependent on the expected RIO of that ad campaign. These are all stats that advertisers and platforms care about deeply. One of those stats would be click through and conversion rate. Pretty simple one is how many people click onto the website and the second is how many people actual purchase the product.

Now It's obvious that some large percentage of consumers do respond positively to some advertising. However there is also a strong chance that some percentage of consumers will either ignore advertising or respond negatively. In Either case showing adverts to these consumers will dilute both ctr and conversion rate.

Like me personally If I see an ad for something often enough I am less likely to purchase that product. I just don't care. I'm also not a very good consumer because I don't even have disposable income.

Why do companies assume that people using adblockers are potential costumers if they are forced to see ads? We're just simply not. I'd honestly say that adblock users are the worst possible consumer of advertisements, because people that would go out of their way to avoid ads.. aren't likely to click on them.

So here's what I think: I do think a least some people in these companies understand this. However, they believe that increasing the total number of impressions is more important then anything. Platform impressions seems to be prioritized over anything else (incl. consumer experience). Maybe some companies are hoping to sell x number of impressions to investors and big advertisers. It does seem a bit short-sighted to me. Then again the media landscape has been saturated for decades with over-advertisement to the point that most consumers find them annoying. I just think this is a better strategy honesty.

I'm not doing the latter and I don't want to have to go out of my way to turn off AdBlock when I go to certain websites then remember to turn it back on when I go to others.

[Fix] YouTube not allowing Ad Blocker - Delete site storage

[Fix] YouTube not allowing Ad Blocker - Delete site storage

Hello, YouTube is not allowing me to watch videos because I have Ad Blocker.

I'm not sure if this solution has already been discussed, but this is one way to fix it: delete site storage/cache (please see screenshot).

  1. Open Dev Tools in your browser (press F12)
  2. Go to "Application" tab or "Storage" tab depending on your browser
  3. Clear storage, starting with Cookies (right click, delete). Refresh to test if video loads. If not, delete Session storage and refresh. If still blocked, delete Local storage and so on.

After doing this, I was able to resume watching videos as normal, at least for now. The downside is that it may log you out (I was not able to pinpoint which storage causes videos to be disabled, but please let me know). Hope this post helps someone, somewhere :)

youtube block

i don't think the sites are detecting these extensions and blocking them. i searched and saw the YouTube announcement to ban ad-blocker was from 4months ago, today's the first time I've seen it on youtube . I was listening to YouTube for hours, no problem. 2 mins after my Windows update, I came back and saw it. For years, these adblockers have found workarounds to patch over any attempts of blocking them. I think Microsoft, apple and Google might have added something in the operating system updates to detect if you're using these extensions so they're more easily blocked. idk hoping this may help find workaround

I posted in uBlock Origin asking if they had an actual update and got banned.

uBlock Origin has been suggested excessively, but they don't seem to have any updates.

They do have a bunch of instructions on clearing data and re-installing repeatability which can provide a temporary reprieve.

I'm just really not sure why they're being promoted so hard core. uBlock Origin is pretty standard as far as ad blockers go, and they haven't come up with anything as of yet that actually addresses the issue that all ad blockers are having.

By far the most consistent and easiest solution is to just log out of your youtube account and continue to use what ever adblocker you have. Eventually, they'll have real solutions.

uBlock is providing things you can do, but they're really just wasting your time because they want more users.

Convince me I'm wrong, tell me some actual reason why uBlock could in some way be this golden goose?

if i disable adblocker for YouTube then other sites show ad

just as the title I am saying that if I disable all adblocker for YouTube (because I can't watch a video if an ad blocker is enabled) then if I go to a website for movies, anime&manga .. then pop-ups and many more ads show what to do?

YouTube's anti-adblock popup SOLUTION!! Turns out this Adblock built into Enhancer for YouTube is interfering or inferior to uBlock, Adblock etc. & disabling it has removed the popup for me, hope this helps.👍

I need help about YouTube.

Hello, everyone. I'm sure you've heard about the situation involving YouTube and AdBlock.

To cut to the chase, I wish that (as far as possible) there was an ad blocker option that wasn't detected by YouTube and that was available for Microsoft Edge. I can't really switch browsers and allowing ads (in my case) isn't an option.

How do I proceed? Any ideas?

Any good adblockers for iPhone

I used to use Blockada and it worked perfectly. Blocked all ads across safari and chrome and it even blocked ads on apps like StrymTV. It even let me add any websites that snuck through to a banned site list. But it doesn’t work anymore for some reason and I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any others like that? I’ve tried Adblock Pro and BlockBear but both of them only work for Safari and even with that they don’t block pop up ads.

Chrome Webstore AdBlockers

As we all know, YouTube is now destroying AdBlockers, and that is bad news because I get the worst ads in the world including:

Purdues Grayscale Graduate Comebacks

Yelp Thinks You're So Tast-ery

YouTube Premium's Trumpsty The Egghead

Verizon (I have PTSD from FiOS spamming every TV Spot for David Seville and The Chipmunks: The Final Chapter)

I need a strong and powerful AdBlock on the web store. One that even bypasses the brief

Can someone help me (safari YouTube)

I have some of the most popular blockers for safari installed correctly on my iPhone, yet when I use YouTube, it only half works. It used to work normally, but a few months ago when I would click on a video, instead of blocking the ad, I have to click play, and while the video doesn’t play, it’s as if I’ve suppressed it and it runs in the background until it ends and the video starts. Say I were to click on a video, if it were to have a 15 second ad, I would manually click the play button, wait 15 seconds with just the thumbnail on the player, then the video starts. (I use the desktop version of YouTube in safari if that helps) How can I fix this to fully work? Thanks

Ad block score without a browser extension and with any OpenWRT ablocker service you use...

Hello Friends,

I use uBlock Origin on my browser and either AdBlock or AdGuard Home on my OpenWRT Router (a NanoPi R6S).

When I visit - https://adblock-tester.com - my score is nearly 100 when both blockers are enabled.

Surprisingly, however, that score plummets to around just ~50 when I disable uBlock Origin (browser) - and use only the OpenWRT blocker. This remains true after trying many filter lists.

What score do you achieve when visiting the above website with Router-only blocking enabled (i.e., browser blocking disabled)?

Thank you!
