Chrome changed their flags again? (uBlock)

Woke up to uBlock being disabled yet again, but I went to reenable the flags and ‘Allow legacy extension manifest versions’ has been removed, or possibly renamed - the other two M140 and M141 flags are still visible, though, but alas, uBlock Origin is kill again. This is more a heads-up and less of a "help me", but if anyone knows how to again reenable I definitely won't say no.

Need help with an Adblock for IPhone.

Ok so basically for reference I’ve been using AdGuard- Adblock and privacy which was a glorified vpn but it was working great with the paid version but now all of a sudden I’m getting pop ups on certain websites. It was great because it blocks ads in games as well but I care more about the websites. I’ve since have tried Total Adblock which is superior on the website but doesn’t work in apps at all because there isn’t a vpn. Does anybody have an app that does both. I don’t mind paying (preferably yearly) if it actually works for both.

Premium vs. adblock

I just wondered: do premium members watching videos even count for monetization or are they maybe not even accounted for since the ads are surpressed. Is there any indication in the yourtube statistics on that. Because if premium members do not count, its like paying youtube to have a personal adblocker. So everybody looses...

Get uBlock Origin Working Again in Chrome after Version 142 Update (macOS)

I imagine there are numerous ways around this, but I found this to be the easiest way to get uBlock Origin working again after Google removed the flags from the experiments page in the latest update to Chrome. Once again, who knows how long this will last, but for the moment, this worked for me.

Create a macOS app wrapper (Automator) so it looks like a normal app

  1. Open Automator → choose Application.
  2. Add action Run Shell Script and paste:

/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --disable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Unsupported,ExtensionManifestV2Disabled
  1. Save as Chrome (MV2).app or whatever you want to name it and put it in Applications or Dock. Double-click the Automator app to run Chrome with the flags.

The only ad-blocking guide that should exist

Many users on this subreddit are confused as to which adblockers are the most effective, which results in some misinformation being spread around. Adblocking is quite a black and white topic, there is a such thing as using the "correct" adblock. Everything that is not on this list shouldn't be used, simply put, everything on this list is tried and true, the most effective at blocking ads, known in the community, and is not malicious.

https://honest-software.com/adblock/

You'll notice that this link is now in the sidebar of the subreddit. The mods and I both agree that there is too much misinformation and scammy adblocking solutions being recommended, and this guide will hopefully remedy this type of behavior. Anything not on this list is considered untrusted by the community, and should be avoided.

Thank you to the mods and u/CharacterDuck9020 for your help and contributions!

Note that this site is a work in progress. This is my personal blog/resource that is aimed at helping folks with r/privacy and security, however it is currently hosting the guide and I will continue to host and maintain this guide with the help of community members.

The mods and I decided that it would be best to host the guide on an external site. Unfortunately, the original creator of this list (now known as u/CharacterDuck9020) recently was banned from Reddit entirely, and we have reason to believe that Reddit is trying to sensor us from recommending adblocking solutions that block their ads and trackers.

Managed to Block Disney+ ads (at least for now)

So I was looking for a way to block Samsung ads in my TV (the ones that appear in the middle of the menu). For that I've enabled parental control on my router, added the TV and one single rule to block ads.samsung.com and it worked like a charm. While doing that I figured why not try to block other services and added disneyadvertising.com and it ALSO worked. Haven't seen disney+ ads (in the middle of tv episodes) evers since.

I got this address from another post where someone tried to block but wasn't successful. Not sure exactly why it worked for me, but it did.

User Demand for Browser Ad Protection: The Impact of Ads on Browsing Experience

With ads being everywhere on the internet, more and more users are starting to care about ad protection, especially in browsers. Ads not only slow down page load times but also seriously affect our privacy and user experience. How important is ad protection for browsers today

Many users have expressed that they need a browser that effectively blocks annoying ads, especially autoplay ads and pop-up ads. These ads not only disrupt their browsing experience but also consume a lot of data. On mobile devices, ad loading times are even more noticeable, significantly affecting the user experience.

Current Impact of Ads on Browsing

  1. Slower Loading Speeds: Ads often delay the loading of a page, especially large or multimedia-heavy ones. Users generally want browsers to intelligently identify and block unnecessary ads, improving browsing speed.
  2. Privacy Concerns: Ad companies track user data through various technologies, exposing personal privacy. Many people want to use browsers that protect privacy effectively and prevent data leaks.
  3. Decreased User Experience: Ads often appear at inconvenient times and places, interrupting normal user actions. This is particularly noticeable on mobile devices with limited screen space.

Support youtubers while using adblock?

Hi, Does anyone have a convenient way to support websites/youtube content creators while still running adblock. Something like having the site auto load in a background windows without adblock and then closing it once the ads have loaded. Or for youtube the same thing, just have the video play on mute in a different window.

It would be nice to support the creators that I watch (without doing patreon etc.) while still having a good internet experience.

I havent been able to find anything in my googling so im keen to hear other peoples ideas.

Best Adblock for Chrome options in 2025?

Running Chrome across a few devices and still looking for the best adblock for Chrome that actually works with the latest Manifest V3 changes. I’ve mainly used uBlock Origin Lite and AdGuard AdBlocker, but I’ve also tested Privacy Badger to see if it catches anything extra. Noticing some ads slipping through on a couple sites, especially YouTube. Is anyone getting better results with a specific setup or filter lists? Is there a clear winner between uBlock Origin Lite and AdGuard now?

I Finally Found a Reliable IPTV Provider After Years of Searching, No more freezing — just smooth, premium-quality IPTV streaming all day

If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried more than your fair share of IPTV providers over the years. Some looked promising at first — thousands of channels, huge VOD libraries, and tempting prices. But within a few weeks, the problems started. Constant freezing during live sports, missing channels, buffering at the worst times, or even complete shutdowns.

For a long time, I thought all IPTV services were the same — unstable, inconsistent, and poorly supported. That was until I came across TVWorldwide IPTV, a provider that completely changed my streaming experience. After months of testing and comparing, I can finally say I found a service that works exactly as advertised.

Why Most IPTV Services Fail

The IPTV market is full of promises, but few platforms deliver consistent quality. Many IPTV providers operate with unstable servers, leading to lag during peak hours. Others don’t update their playlists regularly, so channels or movies disappear without notice. Some even sell fake “lifetime” subscriptions that stop working after a month.

What I’ve learned is that a great IPTV subscription requires three things:

  1. Stable servers with strong uptime and fast response times.
  2. Regular content updates to keep channels and movies fresh.
  3. Professional customer support that actually helps when needed.

When I tested TVWorldwide, it met all these points — and more.

Smooth and Reliable Streaming

From day one, the difference was obvious. Channels loaded instantly, even during big sports events like the Premier League or UFC fights. No buffering, no lag, no pixelation. I tested it on Firestick, Android TV, and my Smart TV — the performance was perfect on all devices.

TVWorldwide uses optimized streaming servers designed for 4K and UHD playback, which means you get crystal-clear picture quality. Whether it’s live channels, movies, or series, the viewing experience stays smooth 24/7.

Huge Channel Selection & VOD Library

Another reason this provider stands out is its massive content selection. With over 25,000 live TV channels and 100,000+ VOD titles, you’ll never run out of options. You can watch sports, movies, news, documentaries, and international content from the USA, UK, Canada, and more — all in one place.

Their VOD section is updated weekly, including the latest Hollywood releases and trending TV series. The interface is clean and easy to use, with EPG (TV guide) integration that makes browsing simple.

Compatible With All Devices

A good IPTV service should work on all major platforms, and TVWorldwide does exactly that. It supports:

  • Firestick / Fire TV
  • Android TV and TV Boxes
  • Smart TVs (Samsung, LG, etc.)
  • iPhone / iPad
  • MAG and Enigma2 devices
  • Windows and Mac

You can even use popular apps like IBO Player Pro, TiviMate, or Shamel TV to stream with your own playlist.

Affordable and Secure IPTV Subscription

Compared to other IPTV providers, TVWorldwide offers excellent value. Subscriptions are available for 1 month, 6 months, or 1 year, with multi-connection options for families. The payment process is safe, and setup instructions are sent instantly by email or WhatsApp.

For around the price of one month of cable TV, you get a full year of premium content — including 4K channels, live sports, and movies on demand.

24/7 Customer Support

One thing that really impressed me is their customer service. Any question I had — setup, renewals, or app recommendations — was answered quickly and clearly. They even provide step-by-step guides for installation on any device.

That kind of reliability and communication is rare in the IPTV world, and it’s one of the main reasons I trust them.

Final Verdict

After years of testing unreliable IPTV subscriptions, I finally found a provider that’s worth recommending. TVWorldwide IPTV delivers on every promise — stable servers, high-quality streams, and top-notch support.

If you’ve been disappointed by IPTV in the past, this service will completely change your experience. No freezing, no downtime, just smooth, premium-quality IPTV streaming all day long.

My Honest Review After Trying 4KIV IPTV - Finally a Service That Actually Works

So, I’ve been jumping from one IPTV provider to another for years — always the same story: channels freeze, servers go down, or customer support just disappears after payment.

Then I gave 4kiv.com a try, and honestly, it’s been the best experience I’ve had so far.

The setup was super simple, and what surprised me most was how stable the streams are. I’ve been watching live sports, movies, and even international channels with zero buffering. The picture quality is crystal clear — way better than what I expected.

Another big plus is that it works on literally everything — Firestick, Smart TV, laptop, phone… even my tablet. And if you ever get stuck, they answer fast on WhatsApp (which is rare for IPTV services 😅).

It’s not some sketchy service that disappears after a month. I’ve been using it for a while now, and everything’s been smooth. Definitely one of the most reliable and affordable IPTV providers I’ve tried in 2025.

The Best IPTV Service I’ve Tried in 2025 – 4kiv is 🔥

I’ve tested quite a few IPTV providers over the past year, and most of them either buffer a lot, don’t have local channels, or just disappear after a few months.

The one that has actually worked well for me is 4kiv.

  • 22k+ live channels (US + international)
  • Huge movie & series library
  • Sports & PPV events included
  • Works on Firestick, Smart TVs, PC, mobile, etc.
  • No issues with buffering, even during live games

They even give a 24-hour free trial so you can test everything first (no payment required).

👉 You can check it out here: www.4Kiv.com

Refresh YouTube video after opening it script for adblock users

I don't know what's happening with UBlock Origin or ANY adblocker that causes YT to meltdown right now. I have to refresh the videos every time to play them. Adblock Recommendation ???

Recently i have had enough with ads as they have gotten way to excessive. The main platforms i use are youtube, twitch and any anime streaming websites also its nice not to get bombarded with adswhen reading any article or news page. I used to use ublock and i think it still works on other browsers but i was looking to switch to either Vivaldi or Brave.

I know brave has a built in adblocker but dont know how reliable it is and Vivaldi uses MV3 and ublock doesn't work on that. So do i go the classic route and use firefox or do you guys recommend any other ad blockers that can block all ads.

Edit: forgot to mention that i was looking for one that works both on android and windows 11

Zen v0.13.0 is out

free and open source system-wide ad-blocker:

https://www.reddit.com/r/zenprivacy/comments/1o6ftxj/zen_v0130_is_out/

works perfectly with chrome (it doesn't depend on mav2 or mv3, because it's a native application).

YouTube & Twitch ad-blocker

Hey everyone! I have an app launching in about a week that blocks ads on Twitch and YouTube while giving you the native app experience—like you're using the actual official apps. For now, it's only available on iOS/iPhone, if this post gets enough engagement, I'll have the Android version ready soon. What do y'all use—iOS or Android?

Here's a video of me using it

What is the best AdBlocker for Chrome? (browser opinions aside)

Running Chrome on Windows and looking to tighten up ad blocking without switching browsers. Used AdBlock Plus and Ghostery before but both started missing more ads or slowing down pages lately. I know uBlock Origin is usually the go-to but I’ve also seen AdGuard and uBlock Origin Lite mentioned, especially with the Manifest V3 changes. What is the best AdBlocker for Chrome right now considering performance and filter options? Has anyone compared AdGuard to uBlock Origin Lite on Chrome?

Investigating how a to build a LoFi plater that consistently delivers ad-free YouTube live streams.

I'm trying to build an embedded, ad-free player for specific YouTube live streams (like 24/7 radio). Standard solutions (youtube-nocookie.com embed, YouTube IFrame API, and even uBlock Origin) are becoming unreliable as YouTube steps up its anti-adblock efforts.

A great example of a robust solution is lofimusic.app. This player loads and plays the stream in a custom UI (not the standard YouTube iframe) and is completely ad-free.

My core technical question is about the client-side mechanism they must be using:

  1. Manifest Retrieval: What is the current, most reliable client-side method (e.g., using specific AJAX calls or parameters) to programmatically fetch the raw HLS (.m3u8) or DASH (.mpd) manifest URL from a given YouTube video ID?
  2. Ad Filtering: Is the current "gold standard" to achieve 100% ad-free playback via client-side manifest manipulation? Meaning, intercepting the raw manifest, stripping out the markers for Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI), and feeding the cleaned-up manifest to a custom player like hls.js?
  3. Alternative APIs: Are there any non-official but relatively stable YouTube API endpoints that provide direct media stream URLs without ad insertion markers?

I am NOT looking for a generic ad-block extension filter, but insight into the advanced, reverse-engineered player architecture that a client-side web application can implement to load the raw media stream.

Any pointers to relevant open-source libraries, specific reverse-engineering subreddits/forums, or even high-level architectural explanations would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone else use Tube PiP on iPhone?

I've heard about this app being a good alternative to Youtube with adblock, I'm trying it out right now and it seems to work pretty well. Looks like it's made by some Chinese company. Curious if anyone else has tried this and your experience with it

Did YouTube stop trying to run down batteries, or did blocked get better?

That's my question. I noticed my ad blocked Firefox experience on YouTube has been free of performance issues. I'm wondering if YouTube stopped being antagonistic or if ublock got smarter.

coin master wont leave me alone

Ok so in short, i had downloaded coin masters (gambling game) for mistplay and i eventually deleted it off of my phone, but now in both monster legends and my singing monsters the only ad i ever get is a coin masters ad. i dont mind ads, im not trying to get rid of ads completely, tolerate them, but the fact that i keep getting the exact same coin masters ad even after i deleted the app off of my android phone is driving me insane. all i want to know how to do is block SPECIFICALLY coin masters ads. im so done with seeing the exact same ad over and over again. I can avoid it for the most part in monster legends, but its horrible playing msm because they force you to watch ads every now and then when switching between islands and every time i get the stupid coin masters ad. i hate coin masters, i hate coin masters ads, i just want to be left alone.

They are at it again with U-Block Origin

So, the latest method is no longer working:

Enter chrome://flags in chrome’s URL input
Search for ‘Allow legacy extension manifest versions’
Enable it and relaunch browser
Download the latest zip file of uBlock version from github: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases
Under Assets, download the chromium zip and extract it
Open the extension page in chrome, click the Load Unpacked button on top left side load (enable Developer Mode in the top right if it doesn't appear), then select the extracted folder.

"allow legacy extension manifest versions" is now gone.

This also goes nowhere:
to bypass the recent restriction : type chrome://flags/#allow-legacy-mv2-extensions in search bar and select "enabled" next to the highlighted option.

This also is dead:
Alternative solution, close Chrome, go to the properties of your Google Chrome shortcut, copy and paste the following prompt at the end of the target (AFTER the quote mark, with a space between them) : --disable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Unsupported,ExtensionManifestV2Disabled and relaunch Chrome.

So, is there another new option for getting it back? I'm not well versed in Github, so something could have been released and I would have no clue about it.

Any free Twitch mobile app adblockers?

I mostly watch twitch on the mobile app, if there’s something that blocks ads on that lmk. I would prefer something that’s free but I guess if something is cheaper than the $12 a month for Twitch Turbo, that could work

newbie questions

I'm new here, been considering using ads block for some time now but since you tube try to fuck around with it I've been hesitant since then, is there any option that allows YouTube. Also since I've spent more time on mobile than on pc is there anyway to install ads block on android?

YouTube Buffering

So, I use ublock on chrome and I am constantly getting the "experiencing interruptions?" thing and the loading circle. I've tried disabling all other extensions. I also don't want and can't switch to any browser except chrome. Any way to fix this?

Edit: Also, it won't stop buffering. It used to only buffer for a few seconds but now it buffers indefinitely.

So era in Star Trek would you like them to cover next?

For me, I would like to see the lost era from the Enterprise b all the way to just before the launch of the first Galaxy class.
I think it's a good era to look at.

While I would also like to see Star Trek Legacy, if it ever comes out, I think a series during that time would be good

YouTube Videos Start Playing Late?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before or already has a fix posted somewhere, but when using uBlock Origin Lite i notice when clicking a youtube video it will stay as a black screen with the spinning loading icon for a good 5-7 seconds before playing? It only happens with adblock enabled and was wondering if there was a fix or workaround?

What is the best AdBlocker for Chrome? (browser opinions aside)

Running Chrome on Windows and looking for the best adblocker setup. I’ve used AdBlock Plus for years but it’s missing way more ads lately, and uBlock Origin Lite seems to have taken over since the Manifest V3 changes. I’ve also tried AdGuard, but not sure how well it keeps up with YouTube and pop-ups compared to the others. For 2025, what is the best AdBlocker for Chrome? (browser opinions aside) Is uBlock Origin Lite still the best choice, or does AdGuard outperform it now?

Adblocker on YT isn't working properly

So I have Coffee Break installed on Brave Browser and I've been running into some difficulties. It works fine when I first install is, but then after a while, Youtube blocks the video I'm trying to watch from playing and says that adblockers violate its TOS and it's a huge hassle to get the video to play. Can anyone recommend a free adblocker that doesn't have this issue?

Total Adblock is a complete scam

Total Adblock is a complete scam

As you can see they have charged me multiple times on the same account while claiming they charge once a year. Not only that, AFTER CANCELING THEM, they continued to charge me. You can see the cancelation was done July 13th this year, and they charged me again October 2nd this year.

uBlock Origin Lite + Chrome + YouTube = Fail?

uBlock Origin Lite + Chrome + YouTube = Fail?

YouTube is back to winning its war of escalation against uBlock Origin Lite, at least for me. 😢

Details: I'm running uBlock Origin Lite version: 2025.928.1920, on Chrome 140, on Windows 11. uBO Lite was working for me and blocking YouTube ads until a couple days ago. Anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to switch browsers -- I would prefer to stick with Chrome if possible. Thanks in advance!

Issues with Ghostery

Recently Youtube videos stopped working on my computer. Until I turned of Ghostery, I'm wondering if others have the same issue, and whether its not a unique problem on my computer? Is it because Youtube is changing their code to block it?
