Phantom ads on YouTube?
I posted this question on r/uBlockOrigin an hour ago and my post was removed.
So.
I use the mobile Edge browser with UBO. It was fine on YouTube. A week ago or so, at the beginning of almost every video, it felt like commercials were running, I do not see commercials, but it takes some time to load the video.
I installed the Brave mobile browser.
Firefox browser.
Same.
It's getting really annoying.
Any recommendations?
Should I use another ad blocker or another mobile browser?

uBlock still works on Chrome?
I seem to be able to install it just fine now. I recall it wasn't working for a while but did Chrome reverse their decision recently?

uBlock and Adguard are both glitching and half-working, YT still loses
Current state of things for me: uBlock Origin Lite opens, but the slider glitches when I try to move it. AdGuard won't even open.
They're still sort of working, though, because the only youtube ads getting through are their own Pro ads.
That's annoying, but it hit me: that means they're paying to show me ads instead of the other way around.

adblock for ios mobile device.
i used to use an adblock called adblock focus on my old phone that seemed to block literally every ad but it was taken down from the store because it was stealing data and information or something. i got a new phone and really miss that feature now because i hate ads on my phone (especially on apps like youtube), im wondering if theres an alternative that works like adblock focus that is free.

I guess Google is going scorched earth now? So I guess you can't watch YouTube on hotel room/Airbnb TV's now without logging into an account? My browser is Firefox with uBlock Origin and for me for at least a month now AdBlock stopped working with video playback, but I worked around it by just watching them in a container tab/incognito window, (or even just downloading them) but YouTube has now blocked videos from playing without being logged into an account. And if you are logged in it's still blocked against any detected AdBlockers. Is anyone else suffering from this? Are there a know workarounds? Am I the only one? Incognito. I paid for YT premium for a while but they kept showing ads even though they said they wouldn't, so F that! I have been using Adshield, and today after a chrome update I see this - right now, it's playing fine w/o clicking the "update now" and frankly I don't trust Google not to try to catch me by clicking the update now. Braindom
I used to do these puzzle games from Braindom around the time of COVID and I used blokada and it works perfectly. The game has so many ads now that is probably not even worth playing. I don't know if I'm just using the blocking app incorrectly or if these apps are so smart now that it's impossible to block the ads. any help would be appreciated thank you

SurfsharkVPN Adblocker thoughts?
I've been using the built-in ad blocker on Surfshark (CleanWeb) for a while now. I only use CleanWeb on my phone, as I have a separate ad blocker on my PC (uBlock Origin). I really appreciate it because it blocks ads in those annoying mobile games, but sadly it doesn't block YouTube ads, because its a DNS AdBlocker. What are your thoughts?

Best VPN with ad blocker for android?
Looking for a VPN that can also block ads systemwide on my android. Tired of ads popping up in random apps and browsers. Would rather have one app handle both instead of running separate things.
Already checked out Proton VPN with NetShield that blocks trackers, and NordVPN with Threat Protection. Also saw Blokada mentioned but seems more like an ad blocker that happens to have a VPN, not the other way around.
For people using these combo apps, how well do they actually work? Does the ad blocking slow down your connection or kill battery? Do they catch most ads or does stuff still slip through?
What's everyone using on android that actually gets the job done?

YouTube on Android Browser
I took a quick look at the "The Ultimate Adblocking & Privacy Guide" and saw the list, but still thought I would ask here, with a follow-up question:
I use a Samsung Galaxy 8A phone, and almost always go onto YouTube using the phone's browser, rather than the app itself.
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what I may do to stop YouTube ads when I am on the website (or app, if that's the way I have to go).

Free Adblocker Browser not blocking YouTube ads anymore?
Hi, I've been using the Free Adblocker Browser on my Android phone for a good while now, a few years or so, and it's been really great. Up until very recently that is.
For some reason the app has stopped blocking ads in YT videos. I used to never get ads when using the app, but now every single YT video I open throws an ad or two at my face.
I thought it might have something to do with how my phone recently asked me choose default apps for internet searches and so on (more like forced me to choose, wouldn't let me do anything else on my phone until I picked the apps for searching the internet and stuff), and I tried looking at the default apps settings, but I can't even see the Adblocker browser in the selection of apps for one reason or another.
Furthermore, while I was looking at the app settings for the browser, I looked at the app's about info, and to my surprise it says "Copyright 2026 Google LLC. All rights reserved". What is this? Was the browser acquired by Google recently or something?

uBlock Origin: YouTube "X watching now" not updating automatically
During a livestream, the "X watching now" counter doesn’t update unless I manually refresh the page. When I disable Quick Fixes, it updates normally, but then ad blocking stops working.
Is there any custom filters or something to fix this?

YouTube doesn't want us to bypass the 5 second delay anymore
As of last night, YouTube decided to break the script I've been using for months to bypass the 5-24 second delay before loading videos.

Okay so it appears it's trying to play the ads, which is what the 0:00/0:00 is for. The script now seems to be delayed based on how long the ad is. Could be anywhere from 10 seconds to minutes.

Best adblock for youtube to use on microsoft edge
Looking for an adblock extension that I can use on microsoft edge. I really do not want to use another browser as I prefer microsoft edge. I have used uBlock Origin recently which a lot of people recommend but it doesn't work for me for some reason. I used to use pie adblock which used to work great but as of recently stopped working. Would appreciate any extensions that I can use to block ads on youtube. Thank you!

Youtube at it again

Hey gang, so uh youtube just 20 minutes ago started hiding all videos. Tabs I had already open play without ads and I can see comments, but otherwise it's all just gone. Tried all the usual stuff: cleared my cache, reset Ublock, disabled my VPN so it was just Ublock, nothing's worked. I figure it's a new thing they've implemented, but is this a known issue with a known fix? My filters are in the last slide, and I'm in Australia if that's relevant. UPDATE: Videos on the main youtube page randomly came back, but still hidden on videos. It's also happening even when everything is turned off, so this is probably just an unrelated youtube meltdown. For Twitch ads on iOS
Title. Anyone know how to block them and have it work consistently?
Using Brave w/ the filter on doesn't work. Using VPN to Poland used to work but has stopped working. I'm thinking maybe there's some way to get a custom proxy working but unfamiliar with this on iPhone.

Has Anyone figured out a way to stop Peacock forced ads?
Seriously, just trying to enjoy watching the goddamn olympics, and Peacock is committing straight warcrimes.
Want to watch something? 15 second ad.
Watch for 5 minutes? ad.
Want to watch a replay? That will be 15 second ad to start and an ad break every 5 minutes for 2 minutes.
Accidentally back out of what you were watching? Gonna need to sit through that intro ad again regardless of what plays you're missing.

Ad Blocker for Youtube Ads?
Hello :) Title is pretty self explanatory. I have the free adblocker Stands from the Chrome Web Store which has worked to block YT ads in the past. However, I recently got a Mac (had an Acer before) and it has stopped being able to do this. It still functions to block pop-ups and any other types of unwanted ads. I have also made sure to check that it is turned on for YT. If anyone knows the reason/another good free adblocker to try, I'm more than willing to listen. I do not use Ublock Origin anymore since it stopped being able to block YT ads.

I opened youtube today to see this message "this content is unavailable. Try again later" it appears on every single video I use Ublock origin, when i turn it off youtube plays the video. but there is no way im watching this crazy amount of ads just for a little entertainment. youtube fix for brave/chrome
I did a little research and cobbled together a greasemonkey script that fixes youtube while we wait for ublock/adblock to come up with another workaround. All this does is replace the youtube player with an iframe pointing to yout-ube, which skips ads. Noted it will also break the mini player. Here's the scirpt.
Still requires ublock or adblock in order to skip the actual ads. If it's not immediately working, try pressing ctrl+f5.
I posted this a few minutes ago but it was faulty, so I deleted that post. Pretty sure it works now - for me it does, at least.

Does YouTube remember you use ad lock and make the experience worse on purpose?
I noticed that the video to the side of an already playing video aren't small anymore(maybe that's just their new ui) but on the home page I always use you had the tabs like music games asmr and more tabs but sometimes they don't appear sometimes. also they used to have all kinds but suddenly if they appear like 4 or 5 instead of 20.
also I just can't scroll further than like 20 videos where I used to be able to scroll way further. (this is all on the home tab)
now I thought I might disable my ad blocks to see if its that.
i disabled all of them: ublock origin, adguard, adblock plus, adblocker ultimate.
Yet no difference.
so I thought maybe I use private tab, but its the same!
still don't see ads though even with them turned off? maybe if I remove the cashe?
I tried logging in with a YouTube account I had I hadn't really used for a long time and no problems there!

this is all on Firefox, I also opened on opera(it also had adblock on) but same thing.
I wonder if people have also had this problem?

You can block most ads on android with private DNS

This setup filters ad-serving domains at the network level, stopping "generic" apps from loading banners and pop-up overlays. Quick Setup Settings > Network & Internet (or Connections). Tap Private DNS. Select Private DNS provider hostname. Enter one of the hostnames below and Save. Recommended Hostnames dns.adguard.com dns.nextdns.io adblock.dns.mullvad.net p2.freedns.controld.com Important Notes What it hits: Banners and pop-ups in free utility apps and mobile games. What it misses: Ads in YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook (these serve ads through their own domains). Youtube adblocker that fixes video buffering - IframeTube
Hello everyone,
I have recently made an adblocker called IframeTube, which fixes all of Youtube video buffering, removes all ads, and returns the old player UI. It should be used in a combination with a second adblock (e.g. uBlock Origin) to work properly. It does this by using the embedded Youtube player, which is lightweight, has no ads, and includes the old UI. You can learn more about this in the README file of the repository. The project is completely free and open source.
Features:
- no ads, no video buffering
- old Youtube player ui
- lightweight
All your favorite features in the embedded player were remade:
- theater mode, Picture In Picture, autoplay & autoplay button
- previous and next buttons with previews for the videos & next video preview is also available for non playlists videos, replay feature for the previous button
- double speed logic activated when you hold space or left click on the video for 0.5s
- playlist functionality
- language based (the players tooltips, settings options are in your current language)
- all shortcuts are supported
- works perfectly with Youtube’s single page application

I want an ad block chip in my brain.
Plz make brain implant that replaces all advertisements with funny memes. TV, radio, Bilboards, the backs of receipts, political yard signs... All replaced with whatever the user prefers. When approached by door to door salesmen, the chip's host's eyes shine blinding white and the host emits a high pitch screech to ward off any would be brand ambassadors.
When sleeping the chip rewires the hosts brain to become brand agnostic. Any clever product placement, branded apparel, car manufacturer logos, etc are erased from memory.

AdBlock Plus keeps re-adding YouTube to "Allowlisted websites"
I was wondering why youtube ads weren't being blocked. I have disabled all other extensions, restarted my pc, and keep having to delete youtube from the list of allowed websites within AdBlock Plus' settings. Is this a known bug? Anyone know why YouTube keeps getting added back to this list?
On another note, anyone know a better adblocker? uBlock origin Lite doesn't seem to work anymore.
