Hey y'all, I've never really posted here before, but I felt this needed to be said.
There is a growing movement of creators and users planning to stop all YouTube consumption through the month of November. This is a direct response to YouTube's recent changes including new AI features, changing the way views are counted, etc. in order to appease shareholders instead of it's community.
A passive boycott where people just watch a little less doesn't work. To show YouTube and Google that we are the ones upholding the platform, we need to (hopefully) actually hit their revenue and data tracking. This strike involves three core steps:
Cancel YouTube Premium: Cut off their direct subscription revenue.
Uninstall the app: Remove it from your devices so their passive tracking and data collection stops completely.
Block the ads: If you absolutely have to watch something, use a strict adblocker (like uBlock Origin) or an open-source frontend like FreeTube on desktop or NewPipe on mobile.
This is understandably a massive undertaking as YouTube and it's users are very widespread, but hopefully we can band together and share this strike with all corners of the internet.
YouTube is an amazing platform and a catalog of the best minds of our time sharing their knowledge, let's make sure a money hungry corporation cannot take that away from us.
We need to save YouTube!

Peer Tube
