A DNS based solution to ad blocking is not highly effective at adblocking!
This is because content on a page on a website such as YouTube, everything (Including the Ads) are all delivered to you through the same domain as the website (domains which deliver critical content). This means anything it tries to individually block will often break / block the website.
This leads to obvious problems, which is not ideal. They are however very effective as a privacy tool, filtering mobile based ads, hard to reach / IoT devices and certain types of TV OS ads.

Smart TVs
Most smart TVs are proprietary systems, and are hard to develop and block ads on due to the nature of their operating systems. This means most TVs cannot have most ads blocked, including Live TV.
This means these options require side loading.
